I wish I had found this company sooner. I bought a townhouse last year and have had a list of to-do's a mile long since moving in. I had no idea where to start. Now, I'm getting ready to move again and will be putting the townhouse up for rent. With a week left before moving, I desperately started searching for someone to help complete my to-do's. To be honest, I didn't even know handyman companies existed, I thought people just knew a guy. I am so happy to have found Welter Home Services, they are now my ""guy"" and I will recommend them to anyone who will listen.
Kevin contacted me very soon after I submitted an inquiry on Yelp. My desperation must have come across in our conversation because he was able to get me in his crowded schedule right away! His rates are extremely reasonable and the quality of service is worth every penny. Handyman Dan arrived at my house right when Kevin said he would. Dan is impressive. He's a very friendly guy with a huge amount of talent, I don't think there's any task he can't handle. And, best of all, he's a master at multitasking - the guy doesn't know the meaning of downtime, no dilly dallying with Dan!
Some of the tasks Dan completed for me include: mounting and testing a dishwasher, fixing the rolling mechanism and rescreening a sliding patio door, removing an old garbage disposal and installing a new one, correcting a drywall patch that someone else had done poorly, figuring out how my fireplace works and testing it out, stainblocking water stains in my ceiling, mounting a cabinet in my garage, and looking into a problem with my refrigerator. There may have been more to the list, but that's all I've got off the top of my head. I seriously thought this would easily be a 6-8 hour day, I was doubtful when Kevin quoted me 3-4 hours. However, Dan had it done in 4 hours! I'm still in disbelief.
So now my house is in the best shape it's ever been. Everything works, everything looks good. My only regret is not having found this company sooner so that I could enjoy my home in working order a little longer before I move.

If you've got anything lingering on your to-do list, call these guys. You will not be disappointed.

Kevin Welter of Welter Home Services is outstanding! We've had him to our house twice now to complete projects ranging from hanging a stained glass window pane to replacing light switches to fixing our storm door so that it latches properly. And so much more. He always comes up with great solutions to problems with our house we thought we'd never be able to solve! For instance, he noticed damage to our hardwood floor in the entryway and after asking a few questions about what we would like to see done, he laid out a common sense plan to repair it that would be simple and cost effective. Eureka, I say! That's just the type of person we need on-call to help us as we muddle through home ownership. We are relieved to have found such a competent, hardworking, and reasonably priced handyman whom we can TRUST in Mt. Prospect. We also have received some great referrals from him for our fireplace repairs/upkeep and our pending driveway and patio project. We are THRILLED to have found him! To say we highly recommend Welter Home Services is an understatement. He is essential around here!

I called for information on recaulking and was give an hourly rate. Kevin wasn't available for several days, but I said I would discuss the cost with my husband. Kevin called a couple of days later and I told him my husband wanted to give the project a try himself. Well that didn't work, so I called Kevin again to let him know we would like him to come out after all. I'm disappointed I didn't hear back from him. It would be nice to have a reliable handyman close by.

I emailed & spoke with Kevin regarding adding an electric car charger in the garage. He went above and beyond in explaining my options along with providing a bit of education on the topic along with discussing the pros and cons of various configuration options. The call lasted about 15 minutes and I was left well informed of my next steps. His quote was also in line with what others charge.

Kevin Welter installed a new door from my garage into my house where none existed previously. He came out and gave me an estimate and it was very reasonable compared to other estimates I had gotten. He was kind, courteous and did excellent work! He kept my house tidy, and cleaned up after each day's work. He explained all the steps of the process before hand and was always available via phone or email for any questions I had. Upon completion, he explained what he had done, and I was very happy with the entire process. I will definitely use him again for other jobs and highly recommend him to anyone.

Kevin was a pleasure to work with. We had some damage to our kitchen and bathroom from a leaky pipe and had Kevin out to do the repairs. I couldnt be happier with the work he did. He was knowlegable, friendly and got the job done. He worked with my schedule to get the drywall and bathroom tiles replaced quickly even with the Thanksgiving holiday mixed in there.
He was able to come out to our house and give us an estimate and tell us exactly what he was going to do, how long it would take, and how much it would cost. He finished the work within the time and budget quoted. Our kitchen and bathroom look like there was never any damage to begin with.
I would definately recommend Kevin and will use him in the future for all our home improvements and repairs.

I called after I had been burglarized and needed a new door. He was able to come out the next morning to give me an estimate. He looked at the door and said he'd get back to me. I asked for a ballpark figure and he said between $300 - $3000 (huh?). I gave him my name, address, cell, and email. He never got back to me. I gave the 2 stars because at least he came out quickly and was on time for that at least. Quite disappointed with the no response.
