This company also goes by the name of Riteway Plumbing, owned by ""Stephen"". I had a 40 gallon Rheem gas hot water heater installed by them in 2014, and it recently stopped providing HOT water. I contacted the installer, and he advised he could come by today to have a look.He stated that based on the symptoms I described, the heater probably didn't need replacing, but rather an easy repair.. I told him I could be home at 4:30, and he asked if I could make it any earlier. I arranged to leave work 2 hours early, and advised I would be home at 3PM. At 4:30, no Stephen. I called, and he said he could be here in about 45 minutes. 6PM, no Stephen. I called, and Stephen had excuses, became belligerent, and would not allow me to get a word in edgewise. I tried to explain that I work for a living, and each hour away from work is lost money. Stephen said he works too. No kidding. THIS IS YOUR JOB! He insisted he wasn't planning to repair or replace the heater today in any event, and that he would do so the following day. I advised again that I could be home at 4:30, and he said that he's ""not the guy for the job"" in that case, and his people could be here ""in the morning"" without committing to a time. Stephen was condescending, rude and frankly, a smart-ass. I told him as much, and he then stated he won't do any work for me. I will be contacting Rheem for warranty work with another contractor, and will filing a claim with the BBB for poor business practices, as well as reporting his license # to the proper NJ agency. Rather than attempt to smooth over a situation, he advised me that he bought Riteway's phone number 5 years ago, doesn't use that company name any longer, and to ""give it my best shot"". Avoid a headache and this business. If you're concerned about getting proper service AFTER the sale, this isn't the place.

Mike, the technician did a great job in replacing our leaky water heater in a couple of hours. This was on a Sunday mind you. I did pay additional $100 for working on a Sunday but he came within 2 hours of the request and was very professional and courteous. Would recommend when replacing water heaters. The owner, Steve, was also very helpful and courteous. It's nice to know that I now have a reliable source for things like this.

Absolutely terrible service from this provider! We had a leak on a water heater that was under warranty from manufacturer, as well as an extended warranty from Home Depot. This provider was the outsourced vendor for that contract. Initial conversation with the owner Steve were very polite and professional.

The team that he sent to replace the unit caused damage to my bathroom, flooded two different sections of my basement, and was generally dismissive of my objections and complaints. They were initially unwillingly to clean up the flooding or any damage they caused. When they did clean up, instead of using rags they grabbed good towels off the rack. Additionally, attempts to point out these unsatisfactory behaviors were met with derision and extremely rude responses. After pointing out tile damage caused by them, I was told not to make a big deal because it was ""a $3 piece of tile"". I do not expect workmen to come into my house, do a mediocre job, and then DISRESPECT me when I raise objections! I contacted the owner who was further rude and unwillingly to even let me recount my experience to him.

At the end of the service, I was presented with an ultimatum: either accept their ""generous discount of $27 or they would take out the newly installed water heater and leave my 60+ year old parents with no hot water in December.

I will be pursuing further complaints to Home Depot and the Better Business Bureau. Avoid this provider if you desire quality customer service!

Absolutely had no issues with this company with installation. I bought through PSE&G because I had worry free contracts.

I have never dealt with someone who is blatantly dishonest like this.

When I talked to the owner of this company Steven on the phone for quote, he said the pricing is $800, when I asked him about what fees, taxes, upgrades etc to garner the worst case scenario just so we can be on a same page in terms of pricing he kept strongly insisting its $800.

Because it sounded off, I told him I would be emailing him the picture of my existing unit and its connection for him to confirm everything. After he received my images, he replied to my email ""Thanks, we will be there Saturday AM"".

Their service did not come over until 4:30pm on Saturday. I did not make a big deal out of it since my expectations were not very high to start with.

During their service, I asked them what I should make the check out to and they handed me a bill with $175 upgrade charge. I asked the technician this was not communicated to be prior and the tech told me to contact his boss as he doesn't know the billing aspect of the business.

When I called Steven, he was aggressively dismissive and kept insisting he communicated this to me and I should have read the fine lines on his website. I told him I do not need him to yell at me about this and I would have preferred him telling me the upgrades from the beginning and ended the call with ""thanks"" while he yelled ""ENJOY MY WATER HEATER"".

After the call, I heard his employees talking to each other saying he would not talk to her like this if she was a MAN, which itself was degrading. In addition, Steven sent me bunch of screenshots of his websites showing RANDOM prices and wrote that he is ""transparent blah blah blah"" after our call.

Since it was a done business, I left an honest review of the service on Google Review, which the owner called me 10 minutes afterwards to leave a THREATENING voicemail.

It seems that this man is used to lying to people then pushing them around when they question his lies. I left a comment on the company's FB page and the owner REFERENCED the snapshot of the text message he sent me AFTER OUR CALL, insisting he sent it prior to the SERVICE (THIS IS ALL WHILE INCLUDING MY PHONE NUMBER FOR EVERYONE TO SEE). I replied with the snapshot which shows the timestamp of the messages (omitted his phone number).

I just cannot fathom how someone can lie so blatantly, distorting the truth in such a crude manner.

In addition, the technicians did not have ladder and used the cooler that was in my laundry without even asking for permission and left it dirty for me to clean. Steven's exact reply to this was

""Also, I spoke to my employee about using your cooler to stand on as that would be something I look down upon. However, he said that you offered it to use so that he wouldn't have to go to his truck for his ladder""

WHY ON EARTH WOULD I OFFER FOR SOMEONE TO USE A COOLER AS A LADDER? THIS DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE.

Overall, if he just could have acknowledged his discrepancy from the beginning without ALL THE LIES AND BULLYING, this situation could have been done and done. But I guess that's why he has all these bad reviews, this man just can't seem to tell the truth.

Another local plumber quoted $1700 and said it was a four hour job. When Looking at the water heater I was confident that I could install it myself within two hours even with never doing it before.
I immediately went online and found this company which advertised $800 installed for a 40 gallon water heater. I was quoted $900 for a 50 gallon by the owner Steve. My wife had plans and wanted to know how long before the job would be done. I was told by Steve I would be charged only $900 and that the installers would arrive by 2:30.

Sam and Mike had the water heater installed by 3:15 pm. Because of high pressure, a 'y' valve to the washing machine bursted due to corrosion. I asked Mike how much the valve would cost. Mike told me $12, but that they weren't charging me.

As other reviewers noted, the install was clean and professional. A problem (unrelated to this company) and they took care of it at no cost.

I think that some customers must get a combination of sticker shock and unrealistic expectations. Unexpected things happen with old houses when installing equipment sometimes. I feel confident that unless it was a lot of money they wouldn't of charge me.

I was charged a fair price for excellent convenient service. I don't understand some of these negative reviews. People should be more realistic. It's too easy for anyone to get on yelp and negatively review any business. Sometimes complains have merit. Other times people have too much freedom to write whatever they want.

Normally I don't use any business with less than four stars. This business has only three stars. I took a chance on them. And I'm glad that I did.

This is just an example of how screwed up yelp ratings can be sometimes.

If anyone wants to speak with me about my experience you're welcome to contact me. I am in no way related to or friends with the business owner. The first time I spoke with him was today when I needed this work done.

It's your water heater is broken or needs service do not hesitate to contact them. Even though their price was low in comparison to a very overpriced plumber I feel that it was a fair price. It was as much as I was willing to pay. If the price was more I would've installed it myself.

If you get an estimate for another plumber in East Hanover that seems ridiculously high then you should call these people. They offered the same quality water heater the same warranty etc. The only thing different is that they will send me an application for a permit. And then I will call the inspector and have them inspect the water heater by myself.

The other extremely high-priced plumber would have scheduled the permit and got the permit for me. In no way is that worth it and $800 price difference.

DO NOT CONTACT THEM! They installed a water heater for $1500 for me, but it never worked. We called the water heater company who said it was not properly installed. Steven of WaterHeaters NJ found a million reasons for their bad work. And he even hung up on me a few times!!! Now I have to find another company to fix it. Don't contact WaterHeaterNJ! Your life will feel miserable if you use them!!!!

Amazing doesn't quite sound grand enough, but this company truly is.
I called this morning around 10:00am and spoke to Steve, he gave me all the details on pricing and what was required for the water heater be installed to code. He did say he charges 4% if you pay by credit card, but he also welcomes checks and cash.
I explained the situation, he said he would do his best to get out to the condo today. Not only were his guys courteous they were in and out by 2:30pm! We are blown away with how professional, attentive and how he delivered on all his promises. I will highly recommend WaterHeatersNJ in the future.

don't understand why anyone would leave negative comments for this company. My water heater started to leak, I got a bunch of quotes, this company was by far the cheapest. I called spoke to Steven ( the owner) and he explained the process and answered all my questions. Told me to look at my unit to make sure it was up to code ( which it was). He even followed up later that day to fit into my schedule. Arrived on time. The installation was a breeze. Two well knowledgeable & personable younger guys came, They realized they had brought a tall unit and I needed the shorter one. One guy stayed and started disconnecting the old unit. The other guy went and picked up the right unit. with in an hour they were done.. Thanks Steven

I'm happy with the overall results. One thing that would have made doing this job so much easier would have been for them to ask me ahead of time what the opening width of my water heater closet was. The WH that was brought in did not fit through the opening. After much arguing between the owner and installers, with the suggestion that we would have to remove all the door moldings (I was not willing to do that. Too much damage that I would have had to repair myself), the installers suggested they come back with a different heater that would fit. The new heater fit through the door perfectly, was installed quickly, and works wonderfully. The clean-up was left for me to do. Hence, one star removed for the hassle of no hot water for a couple days, and the other removed for the time and effort it took me to clean up the mess afterwards.
