7/19/17: Phil/Stevie to the rescue today! Quick assessment and plan of action for a stopped up toilet. (handy tip: be careful of 3 ply t.p. & low flow toilets). They cleared it quickly & I felt I was in very good hands from beginning to end. Real nice guys & Marty Jr. is nice to speak to as well. Thank you guys. I will use you again.

I found this company on yelp because I live out of the area. I have used them for about three years for random jobs. they always come on time and get the work done correctly. I would highly recommend working with them. They have good communication also.

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile!

This company was great! My water heater broke the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend and I thought we were going to have to have to go awhile without hot water. Brrrr

Phil and Patrick came over to install the new heater in no time. They were efficient and professional. In and out!

No issues, excellent price, great customer service. The type of business and employees that deserve the 5 stars!

I've used Water Quality Plumbing a number of times....when I first bought my house they installed my new water softener and ran gas pipes for my new gas appliances. Almost 5 years later I went out to bid on a whole house re-pipe, with re-circulating pump, and Water Quality's bid was competitive and since I knew their work, I chose to go with them. It was easy to make adjustments to the bid, via email, and I was able to sign and email the estimate and schedule the work, via email and phone. Their front office staff was very friendly and helpful, and gave me all the info I needed to prep for their crew to be in my house for almost five days. And their plumbers were great! First, so friendly, careful and thoughtful...treated my home with care and the fact that I work from home, they were sensitive to me being on the phone, etc. Their work was stellar! They were on time every day and left my house as clean as they found it. Their sheetrocker was also amazing and fixed up all my walls - in the house and the garage. I would recommend Water Quality to anyone. And by the way, my instant hot water and re-pipe are fabulous!

We had a plumbing crisis 2 on December 23 with all our family visiting. Phil and Isaac came out that day and fixed it, and saved our Christmas. The office staff was also very helpful in discussing the problem with us.

This is a big fat giant THUMBS UP for the superheros at Water Quality Plumbing! Our water heater died abruptly yesterday. We live in the Santa Cruz Mountains, it was pouring rain, getting dark, and there was not a drop of hot water to be had. Panic! I started calling around for emergency water heater replacement and the response was extremely discouraging. Our location in the hills makes it more difficult to get service, and I get that, so I wasn't expecting someone that night. But everyone I managed to get through to seemed vague about when they could get to our house with a propane water heater, EXCEPT WATER QUALITY PLUMBING! ""Sure! We can get there first thing tomorrow"" said a very friendly and efficient woman who answered on the first ring. She put me on hold for less than 30 seconds to check if they had what we needed in stock. They did. Next morning, Alex pulled up EARLY with our new heater ready to go. His smiling partner Phil arrived to assist, and they went to work. Soon, we were back in business with hot water flowing. They cleaned up thoroughly when they were done, I paid them the price they quoted me over the phone and off they went to
save the day for another distressed customer. Thanks again to the entire crew, the gals on the phone, Alex, Phil and VERN who hooked me up initially. Water Quality Plumbing rocks!

Came out today to repair a prior poor repair. They were quick to estimate, quick to send their team out, Phil and Taylor. Both were very nice friendly and can tell they like working for their company which tells a lot. Within one hour my incoming main was repaired and we have water!!! Repair was quick, easy, cheap and done well. I would recommend!!

tl;dr; This review is mostly about the logistics of how this business runs, and not on the quality of their work, which I don't have experience with. Estimates for simple jobs are free but the estimator cannot do any work (dispatch a technician for that at minimum $135, so if you know you want to give them business, just make a tech appointment outright knowing you'll pay $135 at a minimum), and the free estimate doesn't include estimates for bigger jobs (like repiping, requires a tech to go under the house for that estimate, so $135 for the trouble, I guess).

I had a galvanized irrigation pipe crack open last night. I managed to patch it myself (temp fix) so I could turn the water back on, but messing with the main water shut off valve made it start leaking. It was 10pm on a Sunday at that point so we routed the slow leak to the lawn with a tarp overnight, and I messaged a few plumbers including Water Quality Plumbing, to get an estimate of cost and time to come out.

I talked to Marty on the phone this morning about the problem. They dispatch an estimator separately from actual technicians (different appointment types, I think) -- estimate is free, but technician visits are $120 minimum + $15 trip fee ($135 + parts). An estimate would require dispatching a technician separately after the fact, but the leak sounded like maybe he could just tighten something on the spot with the free estimate. He was able to fix the leak -- woohoo! -- and gave me a scope of work he recommended for the unused but still active galvanized irrigation line that we had patched, $135 + parts. I had a second plumber lined up for an estimate as well. They offered $195 and I haggled them down to $175 with the counter-estimate, but they added their work comes with 1 year warranty on parts+labor. I called up Water Quality Plumbing's office to quickly get their warranty -- only 30 days. Combine that with the fact that the 2nd plumber was ready right then and there to fix it, I went with them.

I may hire Water Quality in the future to do some copper repiping. I would have liked to have Marty inspect my pipes under the house for recommendations + estimate, but estimator appointments don't do that? He said I'd have to have a technician out to go under the house for that ($135). The other plumber who came and estimate + fix right on the spot popped under my house for me to give me a quick assessment and recommendation -- Local Rooter & Plumbing. I have an estimate from them (for free, though they got my business already), so it's too bad I'd have to pay $135 to get an estimate from Water Quality Plumbing (which could be the same, and then I paid an extra $135 for the trouble!)

Anyway, Marty was very courteous and knowledgable (and he tightened the main line shut off valve for me no-charge, my main rave about him), but the logistics of their company are not ideal if you need same-day estimate + work (without paying the $135 just to be told a job costs X more than you thought).

Today is Monday, the one day a week I have ""free"". I asked Water Quality Plumbing to schedule a gas water heater replacement for a Monday. It was functioning fine and not leaking, but 14 years old and full of calcium and sediment to the point it wouldn't drain... any Monday would be fine.
They asked how about 1pm today?
Wow.... great!
They showed up, did a clean job to code, and Woohoo! I don't have to spend another Monday on this issue.
I'll definitely call them again.

VERY DISAPPOINTING!
I had a sewer backup into my downstairs bathroom and into the kitchen on August 1. The plumber came out and snaked my line. At the time I questioned that the snake was only going about half way to the street line and he said that should be okay as that was where the root incursion was. My past plumbers always went all the way out but I figured he knew what he was talking about.
Well, here we are less than six weeks later and the sewer has backed up again. I called the office to see if they had any guarantee or could offer a discount on re-service and was told they would not do anything for me.
I guess that is what I get for using a new company on a recommendation from a neighbor. I will not use this company again.
