The good news is that unlike many folks in Ithaca, these guys actually pick up the phone. The bad news is that the service leaves a lot to be desired. I had a plumber look at a water pressure issue (apparently nothing to be done about that, so no worries) and a dripping tap. The plumber disassembled the tap, told me they needed to order a part - as usual, these always require some brand specific cartridge - and they'd get back to me once they sourced it. He did not put the tap back together properly, so I had to figure out how to reassemble it myself, and Warden never called me back about the replacement part. Weeks later I still have a dripping tap. Would not call these folks again, guess I'll teach myself how to replace the cartridge on my own so I can be assured of a decent job.

I'm shocked that I saw only three stars. Warden is great to work with. Knowledgable, helpful, on time, pleasant, nice people. I really appreciate their help! We've worked with two different plumbers and both have been excellent.

Rob & Dave are terrific. They designed and executed rough and finish plumbing for our new home in the Town of Ithaca, where energetic and meticulous code enforcement makes such projects a bit more detail oriented than in other municipalities. Throughout, they communicated clearly and respectfully, stayed on schedule, flexed when the schedule shifted on our end, passed every inspection on the first pass, and came in under budget. As a woman and first-time general contractor, I was particularly pleased at their unfailingly collegial demeanor -- never condescending or skeevy, which can't be said for everyone we hired. :-( And they came in under budget. I hope I never GC another build, but if I do, Warden Plumbing will be my first call. In the meantime, I've been happy to refer friends and family, who have been consistently satisfied with their savvy and affordable repairs to older, quirkier plumbing systems.

I had a similar experience to the other reviewers. A plumber and apprentice who was on her first job came for 3 hrs, including the time they had to leave to get parts. The young woman was exclaiming in exasperation that she couldn't remove the toilet bolts, and seemed to need more support than she was getting. I was then billed for 5.5 hrs and $50 parts. Then, I received a bill that there was a mistake and I actually owed an additional $50 parts. It took multiple messages for me to get a call back, and when I did the office worker was on a cell and couldn't hear our conversation. Still working on a resolution. I won't call them for service again!

Dave has done work for me for almost 20 years. He was always fairly reliable, and reasonable in price. If there was a problem in his work, he fixed it. However, he now runs a crew and has an office manager. Quality of work is down and prices are way, way up. He charged $300 for a simple pressure test that should have been less than an hour. I basically paid for 4 hours of employee and boss time for on-the-job training, with some rounding up on the time. He was a good solo plumber and hopefully he'll go back before losing all of his old customers.

We were very disappointed with Warden Plumbing. The plumber doing work on our sink took extra time because he had to keep making trips back and forth to acquire materials. With proper foresight and planning, all of these trips could have been done at once. In at least one case, he simply brought back the wrong materials. We thought we understood from our conversations with him that we would not be billed for unnecessary trips but then we were so billed nevertheless. We attempted without success to negotiate the large bill with the company, but they seemed to us more concerned with getting the full amount they billed than with customer satisfaction or with retaining us as customers. They even pointed out that they did not bill us for the additional time when he had to return because the installation he did leaked--time for which we obviously should not have been billed anyway. As a result, we will not use them again.

These folks are friendly, conscientious and very responsive to emergency needs. They diagnosed and repaired my various plumbing issues in a timely manner. I would recommend them to anyone in the area.
