I would gve them Zero Stars if I could. We had a plumbing issue and hired them. My mom doesn't speak understand English too well and was told they can fix it and didn't let us know they won't be returning out bathroom the way we gave it to them. So right now we have no paint on on the wall and have to hire someone else to make our bathroom a bathroom again. Half assed job and horrible service but charged us an insane amount. Could have hired someone cheaper and gotten everything done.
Joseph N.This is a very professional high quality business.
Even though I was a first time customer, (and they're extremely busy at this time of the year, )they were polite and friendly when I inquired about setting up the service call. They quoted a fair price , showed up as planned, and executed flawlessly.
Highly recommend.
Evita N.The absolute best out there. Very accommodating and bailed us out of multiple emergencies. Ceil is a lovely woman that goes above and beyond to help as much as she can. We are extremely appreciative of this business and highly recommend!!!
We have McCollum's service plan for 2 homes, they call to schedule the services, always do a great job and it's very reasonable. The service technicians are very knowledgeable and personable, and clean up after the job. They've replaced our HVAC units, the mini split wall Hvac units, and also, their plumbing division is very good, great service. They show up as scheduled, and give a heads up when they're on their way. The office employees are also very amicable and accommodating and are very knowledgeable. They like feedback after a job, it's always been a good experience and they do excellent work! We highly recommend Walt McCollum Plumbing & Heating.
Let me start with I rarely write reviews but I feel my experience with this company warrants one. I have a small plumbing job involving moving some pipes and relocating a valve under my house to a spot inside. Called them and left a message on voicemail service. Did not get a call back after a day or two so called again and left another message on voicemail. Finally the next day a woman called back and we made arrangements for their plumbing inspector to come and check out what work needed to be done so they could give me an estimate. The gentleman arrived on time on that day. He was polite and courteous. He looked at what had to be done and said no problem. They could do the job pretty easily. He stated that you will get a call in the next few days with price and to schedule the work. Great I thought. Well. it has been 7 days since that visit. No call. I called them and again left a message on the voicemail. Have not heard a word from them. Terrible way to do business. Maybe my job was to small for them.Whatever the reason you would think you would get some kind of response. I wanted to support a local business. I see their trucks in the area all the time. I realize they could be very busy but I would expect some kind of response. I guess my job was not a big bucks type of job.
We have used McCullom for years for all our plumbing needs, and have always found them to be very responsive and professional. But what they did this summer went above and beyond. First, when turning on our hot water heater for the summer, they discovered it was not venting properly- there was a blockage in our chimney. The first chimney sweep who came tried to overcharge us - it would have been cheaper to install a new power vent hot water heater and run a separate vent pipe than to pay to re-line our chimney. Despite it being Fourth of July weekend, Mark arranged to do this work at my request, since we did not want our elderly mother to be without hot water over the holiday. However, I then found a second chimney sweep who was much more reasonable, so I changed my plan, had the chimney re-lined, and told Mark last minute that instead of installing a new hot water heater and vent, I wanted him to hook up my old one to the now clear chimney, which he did quickly without any complaint about my last-minute change of plan. And when doing so, his technician Pat (who is terrific) noticed a couple of flaws in the chimney sweep's work, which he corrected. Bottom line, I cannot speak highly enough about Mark and his crew!
This is the 2nd time I have used McCollum Plumbing. First for a hot water heater in October last year, now for my central air conditioner. Fast courteous service. Professional employees both times. Problems diagnosed and fixed within the parameters allocated.
We like to buy goods and services on island or near island and support local families. A couple of years ago I replaced the AC system in my mother's house and chose Walter McCollum even though they were a bit higher in price. Today the second floor was not cooling and I called for service. They told me the earliest would be end of next week! More likely early July. Regular maintenance is booking late July. I expressed my disappointment, hung up and called Gold Medal, they will be there between 4 and 8pm and were sorry it could not be sooner!
Have used them twice. Once to install new shut offs under the house last Sept. and to install new shut offs and a faucet in the upstairs sink today. Receptionist was very friendly and informative regarding their availability. Both times they came when promised. Workmen that we're dispatched kept me informed as the job went on. Price for both was reasonable (for LBI work). Would be 5 stars, but the bleed valve for the under house shut offs were mistakenly omitted. Was a simple fix so I did it myself as opposed to calling them back. The omission did not keep me from calling them a second time.
I manage my family's property in LBI. I've used Walt McCollum twice and there will never be a third. Because they charge $90 per hour, they have never fixed anything under 4 hours. The last time I called them was because of an A/C problem. They made 4 trips to our home and every time, after spending 2 to 4 hours, they told me they needed to order another part. After 3 weeks and $1,994.63 the A/C was finally fixed.
Unlike other Technicians who give a flat estimate for the job, Walt charges by the hour. Save your money and find someone honest who will fix the problem fast and for a reasonable charge.
