Stacie L.I had a plugged kitchen sink this past September. Keep that date in mind because it is important to the story. I called Wally's and his son came to fix my issue. I can't complain about the service because he did fix it. My problems came later...... So when he finished he gave me a bill and said it was Net 15 (payment due in 15 days). Fine no problem. I sent the
check the following Monday. Paid in full. Good to go. Until three months later. I get a phone call and was extremely rudely told by the son that he wanted to get paid. I paused for a moment and said I sent you a check in September. Now in December you are finally realizing you didn't receive it? So I very politely told him I was sorry he didn't get it and I'd check with my bank and he was going to check with his. A week later I get a nasty text message saying that his bank hadn't received it and he demanded payment that day or he was turning me over to collections. Hold on here. I said I was more than happy to work this out with you. Is it my fault that your office has less than stellar bookkeeping skills and it took three months to realize you hadn't gotten the check? And why be so rude! I never disputed the service. Had I known the office hadn't received the check, I would've taken care of it. But to treat a customer like that is completely ridiculous. I will tell everybody who listens how unprofessional Wally's Drain Cleaning is. We are a small town. Word travels fast.
Rian M.Called Wally's on Sunday along with other plumbers. They got back to us ASAP! Did a wonderful job! Cleaned up after also. ! Would certainly recommend them. R. Maki
Michael C.Public Service Announcement: Never use Wally's Drain Cleaning service. I, like many other Hibbing residents experienced flooding due to heavy rains a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, my regular plumber was injured and unable to attend to my issue in a timely manner.
I needed to get my issue resolved as soon as possible and Wally was the only plumber who wasn't booked (I found out why after the fact). Wally and his son came to my home and spent the next 3- hours fumbling around to determine which way the drain was pointing; breaking caps off of my water line; and tracking water throughout the main level of my home.
After 3- hours of taking breaks and cutting all of the pipes in my basement Wally apparently had an epiphany. Wally informed me that I had a collapsed drain or roots in my line and that it would cost between 7k-10k to fix and that I was f!@#$÷. But wait, it gets better. Wally never stuck a camera in the drain to validate his ""hunch"" and he told me to start jack hammering the floor in my basement.
Anyone who knows me is well aware that I am not handy and lack common sense. However, my spider senses kicked in and I luckily reached out to friends who were able to direct me to other plumbers. I placed several calls to other plumbers and explained my situation. Not surprisingly, every single plumber I spoke with indicated that they routinely follow Wally around town to fix sub-par work or to correct a complete misdiagnosis.
Now, I'm not sure if Wally is a conartist or completely incompetent - either way he does not deserve any business and should be embarrassed of his work/reputation around town. I confronted Wally on the phone and gave him multiple opportunities to do what was right and he chose not to. I had to pay double the cost to fix my problem.
Although I do not own a business, my assumption would be that the $250 he got today will pale in comparison to the amount of business he will lose from word of mouth. One of the downfalls/benefits of living in a small town is that word spreads like wildfire.
However, I do have an updated marketing slogan for Wally's Drain Cleaning:
""Want to throw your money down the drain? Call Wally's Drain Service""
I am all for supporting local businesses, however, the level of incompetence and refusal to do what is right should be shared.
