When I needed a new hot water heater, Wallace Plumbing was recommended to me by my heating and air company. Wallace installed the AO Smith hot water, it's five months old, leaks on the floor, and the water that comes out of it is scalding hot. Wallace came in, replaced a valve, declared the temperature was set properly, and tinkered with two toilets in my house. They charged $120. None of my three problems was solved. I discussed my problems with the hot water heater with the AO Smith company and they directed me to turn the heat down on it. I did that. After five days, the water still is scalding, the same temperature as before I turned it down and it still leaks onto the floor. Today, Wallace installed a thermopressure tank ($300, that may or may not solve the problem of water on my floor) and the AO Smith company is having their own tech install a replacement thermostat valve (they will pay no more than $100 for the repair). Wallace charged more than they quoted me to install the thermopressure tank. Wallace is VERY difficult to get a hold of and they do not turn up on time for appointments--hours late for one appointment. I have poured money into this hot water heater because I had no other alternative. Wallace is only guessing what the problem is and they are unwilling to contact AO Smith. i did not select this AO Smith closed system hot water heater; Wallace brought it into my house. Neither Wallace nor AO Smith have been helpful. I cannot trust that the Wallace plumbers really know (or care) what the problem is. They are happy to make a house call and charge me for the visit, however, whether anything gets fixed or not.

We used Wallace Plumbing for years, on all kinds of projects. But we've stopped using them.

They do good, reliable work.

But they are not cheap, and they charge 100% for their services UP FRONT (usually by taking a credit or debit card before the job even starts), a practice that is NOT industry standard (most plumbers and related contractors charge no more than 50% up front, if at all). Lien laws are in place to protect contractors from deadbeats. They shouldn't have to charge for the job until it's completed, and to the customer's satisfaction.

As it is, this charging up front puts Wallace in the driver's seat when it comes to problems after the job is finished, estimates that don't jibe with the final bill, etc. It also shows in their front-desk customer service attitude, which has become more guarded (like they've been stiffed a lot) and arrogant in recent years.

If a contractor is getting stiffed so often that they have to charge up front, that's not a good sign.

Wouldn't recommend. We used them before and had a great experience. But this time, not so much. Had new granite installed so Wallace had to come & disconnect all sinks prior to. A leak was caused. Which in all fairness they offered to ""patch"" my downstairs ceiling. But they told me it definitely wouldn't match my existing. So I said ""no thank you."" I can paint it and cover up the stain. But the clincher...part of my remodel included a new granite composite sink. When he came back to hook the plumbing up to my kitchen sink, my husband discovered a small chip. Wallace claimed that this had to have been a defect in the sink. I had taken pictures throughout my project and when I zoomed in on those pics, there was no defect. He kept pointing at my picture and said there it is. I looked right at my phone and said I don't know what you're pointing at. I called my sink provider (same provider that installed the granite) and they took a long look at the pictures too. They agreed with me that the plumber must have dropped a tool or something in my new sink. Dale with Wallace Plumbing completely denied any responsibility. I will never call Wallace Plumbing again and I will advise anyone that asks to not call them also!!
