Before launching his business, Jim gained experience working with Steve Bursowski at Steve's Heating and Cooling. Steve guided Jim for several years, and in 2006, Jim founded Wagner's Service and Repair, focusing on home remodels and new builds. Jim transitioned his business to HVAC and plumbing in 2009, renaming it Wagner's Service and Installation. He is a Master Licensee and a licensed contractor.

A lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids/Marion, Jim grew up in Marion and graduated from LinMar High School in 1991. He has three children and is currently single. He enjoys quality time with his family. Living on the northwest side of Cedar Rapids, Jim likes to spend his spare time working in his garage. When he has the chance, you might see Jim restoring his 2006 Honda CBR 1000, which was damaged in 2015. Jim has a strong desire to get the bike back in working condition. Jim is passionate about helping others, regardless of the task's size. He has been known to help neighbors by removing trees and plowing driveways, often without being asked. If you encounter him, you’ll discover a friend for life.
