This company was 5 hours late to a project to replace a leaking water tank that was causing damage to my apartment, and when someone finally arrived they tried to increase the price of the job (without even looking at the water tank) by 150%. Classic bait and switch. This shop is entirely untrustworthy.

I called Wagner & Sons for an estimate to replace a leaking hot water tank. They had done good work for me in the past. Their estimate over the phone was several hundred dollars less than another estimate I received from a very good plumber that I have also previously used. I made an appointment for the work.

The plumber was five hours late. I called after waiting two hours and was told that the original plumber they were sending was delayed and was ""just about to call"" me. They found another independent contractor that works for the company to come and he arrived as quickly as he was able to, five hours after my scheduled appointment.

When the plumber finally arrived, he said that he would not be able to do the work for less than 150% of the orignal estimate. He said that they do not replace tanks for less than that amount.

I called Wagner & Sons and spoke with Mike about this bait and switch. He told me first that they never do tank replacements for the price originally quoted. When pushed, he then said that the company never gives out estimates over the phone. Then he told me I must have spoken to a different company. That doesn't explain why they had my project on their calendar for the day. I asked to speak with the owner who was on vacation. I asked that the owner return my call when he returned so we could try to figure out what happened before I posted this review. The owner never returned my call.

If there was a way to give this company no stars, I would.

I see one person gave them five stars. I'll bet it's the owner because their service, particularly the follow-up service is so poor that I can't and don't believe any reviews other than the negative ones. These guys will say they're going to come to fix any remaining issues, but they do not. They will not call or come. I can understand having an emergency, but then to not call and say they aren't coming is inexcusable. And they've done this to us a number of times. I beg whoever reads this review NOT to choose this company to do your work. They clearly do not care about their customers. Otherwise, they wouldn't do some of the things they do.

I see more than one Wagner and Sons online. So I'm not falsely reviewing an innocent company this company's number is 773-471-1997. Stay away from them. Do NOT conduct business with them.

Also when reading this Yelp site, also look at the ""filtered"" comments. A couple of them are reaffirming what I've said about them. There's NO reason for this company to be in business. Period.

These guys are fantastic. When my toilet was leaking, they arrived promptly. They discovered that it had a crack and had to be replaced. They went to home depot for me, purchased a new one (which is great since I don't have a car and couldn't carry it anyway), and provided a receipt so I knew the real price. They also have a one-year guarantee. 10 months later I had another leaking problem (due to clogged pipes, not the toilet) and Roy spent 30 minutes investigating, fixed it and didn't charge me a cent. What I like is that, even though they knew it would have to be done for free, they still came out right away. Ask for Roy. He is super nice and if you're a single female, will not creep you out.

Very Reliable for the South Side of Chicago. Don't call others like DiFoggio unless you like dealing with the mob.
