Outstanding and trustworthy! Killian has been servicing and repairing the AC/heating in our home for years. I can't express the amount of trust I have in them and their employees whenever they come over. They make an effort to know me and the funky little quirks in my home - we all have them! Always beyond grateful to have Jose or Tom show up or call with my yearly reminder for service.
Called on Saturday without heat came on Sunday and could not fix it needed a part, just got the heat up temporarily. The next two days waited for the part with no heat. I was told that if the part didn't come in someone would stop by on Monday to get heat running temporarily again, nobody showed up until Tuesday afternoon when it was finally repaired. The total time of repair service 30 min 1 $45.00 part total bill $559.00.
I understand the Sunday fee of $250.00 plus parts that was quoted to me for the service. Do the math, 250.00 + part $90.00 w/markup which means they charged $440.00 per hr. I think that is excessive. Reasonably call it $100.00 per hr. $250 + $90.00 + $100 for 30 min work = $440.00 not $559.00. They would not even consider discounting not even $50.00. I will no longer Use Killian. I would recommend that you also not use them.
Very unprofessional company. Came out to spec 3 toilets. They gave an estimate on a toilet that would not work with my current plumbing. Called Chris Sweeney for an entire week to get additional information on how to proceed. I was anxious to install the job as the Village of Glenview alerted me I had a water issue. Beth who answers the phone was rude and acted like I had inconvenienced her for following up. I never heard back from the company at all. I called another plumbing company only after not hearing back from Chris. Killian provided zero follow up or answers to my concerns. I paid their bill (they threatened to send it to collections!) but would avoid this company at all costs.
Ryan C.Not inconsistent with other reviews, these folks came out to look at our heating system only to tell me that I needed another heating inspection company to be paid to come out and do a real inspection/repair. Stay away from this business!
The rate they charge for the 'expertise' and the process of collection was equally poor.
My elderly mother had a plumbling emergancy, she called Killian because they had done good work for her 8 years ago. I was worried about time because I drive my mother to her medical treaments everyday, Killian hadn't called in 4 hours so I called them for a status update. The guy who answered the phone was incrededbly rude to me. They did show up whinin an accectable time frame and proceeded to work. The plumbers who came were nice enough and did the job well as far as I could tell. The bill was a whopper, no one from killian had told us what they charged per hour or consulted us about the cost before they began to work. This is totally unprofessional, they should at least tell us what they charge per hour.. Like I said it was an emergcy, so what can you do? You pay them. I feel as though they took advantage of my mother, I would not reccommend these guys at all, stay away.
I recently had a problem with the smell of natural gas throughout my house. I called Nicor, they checked the furnace and different rooms, and said from what they could tell, there was a gas leak somewhere behind my walls. I went to the village to get blueprints, and there was no indication of where the plumbing and gas lines were. Also, no obvious shutoff valve. I had another plumber come out, no luck. I called several contractors ( thinking i was just going to have to start taking down walls), and nobody wanted to touch the job. finally called Killian, and they sent a tech named Jose. He walked the house and looked where the oven, furnace and fireplace was. then he put a handheld meter in each of the lighting cans near where the smell was strongest. He then suggested a small cut ( about 1 sq ft) in the ceiling in my basement. right in the middle of the cut was a valve that was loose and the cause of my gas leak. I couldn't believe it. I had nightmares of every inch of my walls coming down trying to find something. It was like finding a needle in a haystack. But he did it. Very thoughtful and diligent. Great Job!!
I initially called on V.J. Killian to fix a (Grohe) faucet leak in our shower that damaged my kitchen ceiling. In connection with that repair, my wife and I bought a new Grohe Slide Bar shower unit for the same shower and asked Killian to install it. The quality of work was excellent. The faucet leak is gone and the new Grohe Slide Bar looks like, and works like, original equipment that was perfectly installed. I had one question about the billing on the job and it was promptly addressed by the owner, Bob Baker. I would use V.J. Killian again and recommend them to anyone who needs quality plumbing services at a reasonable price. Thank you! TomGed@msn.com
We have used Killian Plumbing several years ago and the plumber was very professional and as a matter of fact was a school mate of my kids.
We have a leak and a draining problem with a bathroom vessel recently so without much thought I picked up the phone and called Killian also because they are local.
The plumber they sent was a slob and walked into the house with his dirty boots on my off white new carpeting leaving stains marks. I had to tell him to put on his booty before he did it. My wife had to clean up after him on the stains.
Anyway, the plumber did a sloppy job with caulking on the counter etc. I called them the next day and they were going to send the same guy back but I refused. I want them to send a different plumber. They were going to have the supervisor call me but never heard from them again. Told them I will put a hold on the check and that I did.
Now they said they are going to sue me in small claims court. Go figure!!!
I do not recommend using them at all. I don't know what happened. They were supposed to be a family owned business and past experience was goo. Not anymore!!
STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!!!
Lisa M.I have a story so long that I just can't even get started. Suffice it to say, a pipe burst that was in back of a basement toilet and it contained raw sewage. This was a year ago. Less than a year after they ""fixed"" it, it burst again in the exact same way. Suspecting the work was shoddy, I called another plumber to come take a look at the ""fix"" Killians had done for me and they told me that it had been ""fixed"" inappropriately and not to code. Yeeeesh. I cannot tell you how mad I was to have had to clean that up twice. Life changing! I believe that Killians is also way out of line with their pricing.
Art V.The workman did a fine job on my plumbing. The problem was the billing.
He worked for less than 2 hours. I don't usually time workmen, but I do make estimates in my head for when I'm billed. In this case, I had phone records from my cell phone because I was on the phone with the company both before and after the service call. Being generous with the time it took to drive to and from my house, I should have been billed for 2.25 hours at the very most.
Instead, I was billed for 3 hours. At the rates Killian charges, that is over $100 more than I should have been billed.
I called the company to explain. The next day, they agreed to lower the bill a little, but not to where it should have been. There was no attempt to explain why I was charged for 3 hours or apology for over-charging me. Instead, they treated it as if they were doing me a favor by lowering the bill.
I paid the bill but said I won't be calling them again.
