When I called to get a quote and set up appointment it was scheduled in 48 hours and then we got on a schedule to start the project was 2 weeks and the workers were here on time and were very good. The process was easy and I now have my dream kitchen. Thank you
Juli H.First, the positives: Mark seems like a great person, responds promptly, and worked with me to refine the task list to fit the project within my budget. The first project I'd hoped to do was a logistical mess - and, to be fair, a bit out of his box - so we rerouted to a second project. Maybe I just got the ""C"" crew? My 4ish day basement floor project turned into closer to 8, mostly due to poor communication with the crew, mistakes that needed to be fixed, or workers showing up late or not at all.
A note: our family has, historically, done home/building and remodeling projects ourselves, and I don't expect anything from a crew I don't expect from myself.
The issues:
Supervision: Mark popped in most days, but briefly, and the crew didn't tell me (or, seemingly, him!) when there were problems or mistakes along the way. The result was that I felt I had to look closely, which set up a lose-lose situation. One day, only one worker showed up - but he wasn't comfortable calling Mark on a Saturday. Language barriers between Mark and the crew were evident, and there was confusion at many points. The crew did not seem bought-in to any sort of company standards, and Mark didn't seem bought-in to training them.
Clean-up: Tack strips/ other trash were left behind on the driveway and in the yard for us to find, dropcloths shaken out (with trash) into the backyard and not cleaned up for days, a last pile of quarter-round left behind. Despite beautiful weather outside, the saw was used inside so the walls are coated in dust.
Communication: There was no final check-in, even by text - just an invoice email. I wrote a note, attached to the final invoice/check, asking for the last debris to be picked up. The check has been cashed, but the debris is still here and there's been no communication about it.
While the finished project looks good, I wish I'd just stuck to a random crew assigned by Lowe's Hardware. I'm so sorry, because Veteran Built seems like such a good idea to this military family!
