The technician was great, no issues there. But the price gauging is insane. Reporting it and so glad I have not only a receipt but that my property has a video camera to account for the time the technician spent. Pretty much the cost of the part that was replaced (the capacitor) is $30 (yes, I know how to get to where the capacitor is and read the part number). Most places will charge $120-150 to replace the part plus the $80-100 cost for the visit. But to charge $500 is insane.

We had a complex pipe re-routing issue and were very nervous about choosing the right company to diagnose and fix the issue. The first plumber we called never showed up. The second plumber we called came up with a solution to jack hammer a 15 foot long hole across my kitchen floor.

We then called Varsity. Now, we knew it would cost more than the mom and pop plumbers out there, but we gave it shot.

I called and in 45 minutes the tech was at my home. He showed no fear in the job and explained exactly how it would be done. We agreed and the next day the job was done. They cleaned everything up perfectly and even routed the pipes better than I could have imagined.

Had a part in my boiler start to leak and looked online and found varsity. Had a tech come for $90 to diagnose what was wrong. After spending 15 minutes and me showing him where it was coming from he told me it was an expensive part to fix. I called navien and the part happened to be covered under warranty. He told me it would take him 2 hours to change the part but had to call his supervisor to get a price on what it would cost. He came back at $1250!!! That was all for labor. I'm sorry but I'm not going to pay anyone over 600 an hour to change a part on a boiler that I can buy for $2200 new. Terrible terrible pricing and I feel bad for anyone that gets any work done. Who knows who they rob daily. Got a quote from another plumber for 350 to change the part. Thanks but no thanks varsity

UPDATE 11/04/19 - Since my first interaction with Varsity I have called them multiple times for routine heating and plumbing maintenance. Both Ed (plumbing) and Paul (heating) were phenomenal. The bottom line is that both of these guys feel like family - as if you have known them your whole life. They are both very honest and go the extra mile to help with your questions/situation. It's difficult to find a company with such professionalism and truly hope others experience this best of the best service. Additionally, I want to thank Jennifer as well. Yes, even their in-house call center is top-notch. Keep up the great work everyone.

About a month ago my oil burner shut of and had a red flashing light. There was a little water that had leaked under it. I am a new home owner so this had me panicked. I pressed the reset button and all was working fine but I wanted to have someone check it out anyway. Varsity came. The positive that I will say about them is that they were very nice. They also waived the fee for me.
The reason for my review being so lowly rated is because upon arrival the tech looked at the burner (it's fairly old), told me he couldn't look inside but what had happened means that I need a whole oil burner. While it was nice of them to waive the fee, they proceeded to write me up a quote for $8000 to replace the boiler. I have since had my oil company look at it as the problem has happened a few more times. All it needed was a tune up to find the oil line was slightly clogged. The problem was completely fixed. I was blown away that the varsity tech wouldn't even look inside (he even said he couldn't!). Without looking at ANYTHING he was able to tell me I needed to spend $8000 on a new boiler. I wouldn't waste my time with them again...it has been made clear to me that they just wanted my money.

Total HORRIBLE experience. There prices are way away from reasonable. The technician came to the house, I told him already that the motor blower was probably the problem since my friend looked at at it before and told me that it seemed this was the issue.
When the technician was done looking at it told me the motor blower was not working. OK? He also told me he had NEVER seen a system like this before. Upon asking what he meant? He said it was a Kenmore system? Hello, Kenmore is made by SEARS, I was surprised he didn't know that? So I asked him how much to fix it? He quoted $1695.00 including the part. Upon asking how much the part was, he said it ha to be ordered, it would take a while and it was $800. So the install would be Over a $1000.00? I told him to leave after paying him $98.00 for the service visit.
Later I called the company back and spoke to the manager ""Mark"" regarding the price. First of all he was ARROGANT AND RUDE. Told me his company was expensive but the BEST!!! Really??? I just ended the call then.
Called another company who fixed my A/C for $500.00 TOTAL including part and labor. IT WORKS GREAT.
They are Price Guaging and are total Thieves. I will NEVER RECOMMEND this Company to ANYONE.

Made an appointment for Friday between 12-4. Wouldn't you know at 2:30 they call to cancel and ask if I'm available next week. Terrible customer service. I wouldn't call them again EVER. Friends also had the same issue. Totally untrustworthy. I think Zero stars would be better.

Having issue with boiler and immediately quotes $10k plus for repair. Superficially looked at the boiler and said ""yup, a new one will fix your heating problems and water temps"". Refused to tune it up and said it was a waste. Called up another HVAC crew, the tuned it and everything works as expected. Next time don't go for the home run - start with the basics!!
