Dane W.I still hope to get a refund for the ""missed mark"" as the business owner stated in his response. I didn't ask for an apology, while you keep $285 for a botched service.
Called to have a bathroom sink faucet installed and the old one removed. My son had it 80 percent out but was unable to remove a bolt. Man came in looked for 2 minutes and said 630.00. I had no choice. It took I'm less than a half hour and $639 later it was replaced with the faucet I bought and have him to put in. Not professional and very very overpriced!! Will never use again
I just had my 20 + year heating system and AC unit replaced by Varsity Home Service. I live in a condo community and have seen their truck here many times.
The salesman John was pleasant and the install crew were prompt, clean and efficient. The total install was completed the same day. The system is running well. I was also given a 3 year service contract. We had a little bit of a rough start with communication as to what was included, but worked it all out. I am happy with my new heating system and AC will start up soon. When I call I always get a live person which is important to me.
The WORST. Where should I start? The owner, Mr. Bellini, who ""sets the prices"" is an absolute price gouger. Eric Lichtman, the manager is the NASTIEST man I have ever spoken to: RUDE, SARCASTIC, flat-out OBNOXIOUS; SHOUTED AT ME. Take our advice & DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY for assiatance. They charged OVER $1,000 just to replace a cartridge & look at a faucet. An hour & a half worth of work - with chatting in between the work - to do literally NOTHING. How is that JUSTIFIABLE? Over $500 to change a cartridge & over $500 to look at a faucet. The manager Eric has to be the most crass and harsh individual who I have ever spoken to. STAY AWAY FROM & AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS - (Literally, B/C IT will COST YOU)!!!!! They take advantage of elderly people - and take their money; if they know you are in a bind & really need help they capitalize on it. I'm going to the BBB and getting ""7 on my side"" &, if need be, an elder lawyer.
I was in a very vulnerable state and never would have agreed to 1300$ to change valves.25 years ago I could have done it myself. Despite what the company stated in their response it was all BS. The job at most should have been about $350. This was less than an hour and I was charged about 4x that. It appears that the company is not concerned about keeping clients. They look at each job as a one time job, and charge outrageous amounts.
My service call was for a slow draining kitchen sink. I was told the drain needed to be snaked which they did. No parts were needed. The drain was cleared without any further issue. However, the bill was for $600!! To say the least I was shocked. $600 for a basic snake job was much higher than I expected. Suggest second estimates would be in order always.
Varsity technicians--Anthony S. and Frankie C. provided services to our air conditioning system and heating system recently. Both technicians were very helpful and courteous. They are examples of how to provide excellent service, and are a credit to Varsity and their profession. Our home is comfortable and safe because of their expertise.
Horrible. avoid at all costs. I made a big mistake calling this company. They misdiagnosed my HVAC problem three times and they kept trying to charge me over and over again. When I confronted them, each technician blamed the other and the managers blamed the technicians. My AC system still does not work and they've charged me $800 for something that they made up and they are refusing to give me a refund. They are very dishonest.
Well, I WAS a client for years but no more!
I had a gas valve become defective and require replacement on my hot water heater which is still in excellent condition. I am on a fixed budget being retired and with one income with my wife having passed away last year. I know a lot of companies will NOT charge simply to come to the house and spend all of 5 minutes to diagnose the problem and provide a FREE estimate, but not this one... they charge $100 just to spend 5 minutes and provide an estimate that any experienced plumber can do. They wanted over $1,300 dollars just to replace a $200 part (and yes that's how much the part cost me). It's about a 45 minute job to swap out the valve, it's not rocket science. So you wanted to charge an elderly man $1,100 dollars for about an hours work?
Not happening... I found a very good local plumbing service company to do it within 24 hours, providing me a FREE estimate and completing the job wonderfully for $650 and warranty of 1 year.
Bad news travels 10 times faster than good reviews and trust me, I will let everyone know to avoid this company and advise those people to do the same.
Shame on you for trying to take advantage of your clients and for charging more than double the charge of anyone else! Shame on you! You reap what you sow.
One has to ask themselves, is making that $100 worth the tens of thousands of dollars lost in potential sales?
I think not.
As far as your reply...Plenty of companies that rip people off have continued to remain in business for decades, because there are a lot of gullible clients out there. Longevity doesn't always reflect reputability.
My husband and I moved into our home in 2020. In 2022, we noticed our heating system was not working and Varsity came to say there was a problem with our three way valve and filtration system. We had them fix it, signed up for an account with yearly maintenance, and everything was fine until last spring (May 2023) when it stopped working again. This time the technician told us that we had black piping which could corrode our system, but said the system still looked fine, but recommend we switch to copper piping which we again agreed to. Everything was fine again until we turned our heat back on again for the first time this fall and noticed our system leaking. The technician came and tried to say lack of maintenance may be the problem, which I quickly reminded him that it was worked on 5 months ago and the year before. He then said the heating system was installed wrong. He admitted to me that they should have never recommended doing the piping last year and instead should have told us we needed an entire new system. He then goes and checks the system to see if the parts are under warranty and told me they were not as the system was from 2016 (only 7 years old). I said that doesn't seem like a very long time and I thought that heating systems were supposed to last longer than that. He said they are when they are installed correctly. He recommended that we buy an entire new heating system through them for $15,000 with a discount for the piping work he should have never done which still came to $12,000 and change. We decided to get a second opinion from another company who came today and told us that our system is in good shape and the only reason it was leaking was because there was som sort of cap that was broken and he ordered a part to fix it. It cost us $165 total as opposed to the $12,000 varsity was telling us we'd have to spend plus all the other work we have had them do. We will be cancelling our account with them as we feel we have been scammed. I'm almost curious as to what they would have told us was wrong next year when we had to call again after buying a brand new system from them.
