Our founder, Larry Mapes, has 35+ years of expertise in renewable energy. During this time, many regions experienced a solar DE-Renaissance, while this region remained at the leading edge of innovative solar technologies, as it continues to be.

Taos, New Mexico is a special area for solar energy due to its abundant sunlight and diverse architecture. This context has provided Mr. Mapes with a rich knowledge of what works and what does not over a long test period in harsh environments. These years of observation have proven crucial in developing and implementing reliable solar energy systems and the best methods for integrating solar energy into various uses.

Our founder, Larry Mapes, has over 35 years of experience in solar energy and currently holds electrical engineering, mechanical, and general contracting licenses in New Mexico, as well as various journeyman certifications for home and commercial applications. He is a NABCEP credentialed solar thermal installer.

He is also a charter member in the NABCEP Solar Thermal Committee, and a member of the technical committee for the Solar Energy Code (an IAPMO standard by IAPMO), his skills continues to influence national standards for the solar industry. His legislative work within the New Mexico state government has also given him a unique viewpoint on overall energy policy.
