Our founder, Larry Mapes, has over 35 years of experience in the solar field. During this time, many regions experienced a solar DE-Renaissance, while Northern New Mexico remained at the leading edge of advanced solar technologies, as it remains today.

Taos, New Mexico is a unique area for solar applications due to its abundant sunlight and experimental architecture. This dynamic setting has provided Mr. Mapes with a wealth of information of what is successful and what fails over a long test period in challenging climates. These extensive observations have proven crucial in creating and setting up reliable solar energy systems and how best to integrate solar energy into each application.

Larry Mapes, has over 35 years of knowledge in the solar field and currently holds electrical contracting, mechanical engineering, and contracting licenses in New Mexico, as well as other journeyman's certifications for residential and industrial applications. He is a NABCEP certified solar thermal installer.

He is also a charter member in the NABCEP Solar Thermal Task Committee, and a member of the technical committee for the Solar Energy Code (an IAPMO standard by IAPMO), his expertise continues to influence national standards for the solar sector. His policy work within the New Mexico state government has also given him a unique viewpoint on overall energy policy.
