BEWARE OF V & L PLUMBING'S HIDDEN EXTRA CHARGE

My husband and I were having a new countertop and sink installed so we needed a plumber to turn off the water to the old kitchen sink and turn on the water to our new kitchen sink. We chose V & L Plumbing to do the job because we wanted to establish a relationship with a local plumbing service and supporting a St. John business is important to us.

On 5.23.24 a plumber came out to our home to give us an estimate for the job. He said that V & L charges $130 an hour. They charged us $95 for this estimate and did not charge us an additional travel rate.

When the plumber returned to disconnect the water on 6.5.24 he charged us an additional $65 for travel. This additional charge was not disclosed to us when he was at our home giving us the estimate. But, we paid the extra $65 anyway.

The following morning I sent an email to V & L to share that my husband and I think that it is only fair that this additional, inflated travel charge be disclosed at the time of the estimate since it is apparently part of the price for the job. I also requested a phone call from the owner of V & L. We did receive an email from the service department, which wasn't helpful as her reply completely missed the mark as she never addressed the lack of transparency with the travel charge. Days have passed now and the owner still has not called as the service department stated he would.

The plumber was scheduled to return to reconnect our water to the kitchen sink on 6.7.24. He did not show up. V & L did not call to cancel so yes, they stood us up.

Needless to say we feel deceived and fooled. We will be sharing this review on social media sites and we have not decided whether we will file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Be cautious and consider this review prior to choosing a plumber. You might also want to consider asking if there are any undisclosed charges. Please know that this review is based on facts, our opinions and our feelings.

Scheduling to having work completed was done very efficiently. It was easy to get a quote and schedule service. Alex arrived on time and explained what needed to be done and gave me tips on how to keep this from happening again.

We posted on Yelp the project needed, replacing an outside spigot, and after several responses, we went with V & L because they understood the simple task without needing to come see the project or a phone consultation.

They scheduled an appointment about a week out. The morning of, we got texts from them confirming the appointment and name of technician. He arrived in the time window, saw what the issue was, confirmed what he planned to do, and the price given by V & L. He worked about an hour, even adding a shut-off valve for no additional cost. Once job was approved, we paid on the spot with a credit card, technician giving a hand written invoice and an email receipt from the company. They promptly followed up to see how the job went. It went perfectly. If we need plumbing again, we will surely call them. I just wish they'd left business cards behind in case someone we know needs a recommendation for a plumber.

Great service. Replaced sillcock ; ruptured after winter storm. Called in morning and repaired in afternoon. Prices reasonable. Call directly avoid Angi or other services cut. Great people to do business with. Have added them as my permanent plumber.

Alex did some shower fixture updatIng the other day, he was very professional and very personable. I really felt comfortable and reassured knowing that he was extremely knowledgeable about his trade. I would highly recommend V & L Plumbing. The price was very reasonable, and they are very efficient and prompt. Keep up the good work.

I finally received my Invoice and Warranty from V & L Plumbing. I spoke with Luis who explained to me that the reason why it took so long for me to receive my invoice and warranty is because of their new software transition. I totally understand this even thought this was not communicated to me in the beginning. I do appreciate Luis call and humility for reaching out to me to assure that I felt like a valued customer. Will I give them a try again in the future? I'm leaning towards yes/maybe. I'm still grateful for the excellent service and customer service that I received from the plumber Sean!!


This is my Updated Review:
V & L Plumbing was suppose to email me my warranty and invoice after Sean did an Excellent Job installing my new toilet and never did. Every time I ask Luis the Office Manager can he please email me my 1 Year warranty and Invoice he says that he is going to email me the warranty/invoice and then he doesn't do it. I have text Luis at least four times asking for him to email me my warranty and invoice. On the third time that I asked for my warranty I was told that the internet in their office was down. This is Ridiculous!!

I was having serious water issues for several years. My lower level flooded including my bedroom and closet areas. I'd had enough of the flooding. So, in May of last year, I hired V & L Plumbing to solve my water problems. And they did. They diagnosed a break in old groundwater drainage tile under the concrete floor in the lower level. They broke out the old concrete, replaced the drainage tile, put in a sump container, poured new concrete and diverted the water through a 7 foot deep source from the sump container out through newly installed drainage tile far away from my house. They also restored function of two other large floor drains which where then also drained out through the drainage tile. I was not sure how well all of this would work so I wanted some time before I wrote a review. It's miraculous. I have had no water, not even a hint of it, in my house since the work was done. We are able to check the end of the drain (which was nicely covered with a caged outlet) and the groundwater flows out like a river. We have had some epic storms since last May. We just had one several days ago. So I told myself that I just had to do this review because I am so thankful to have my water problems solved. Thank you so much Luis and the rest of the crew at V & L.
