Absolutely a fraud. They tell lies and steal your money. They don't even fix your problems correctly. They half a** their job and trick their customers to pay more money than necessary. Didn't even fix our AC unit correctly. They deserve 0 stars if that's even possible.

I have used VJ Killian for many years. Despite being high priced, one of the highest in the area, I knew of their reputation and felt strongly even as others plumbers were recommended to me. I have to say, the company has changed. Maybe the original founders have passed on and the next generation doesn't care, but it is obvious their customer service is lacking and communication is poor. Example: I had three faucets installed. Price was extreme but to top it off, the water flow was horrible, literally a slow stream. When I called to have them fix it, the woman on the phone said the owner would come out as it was a simple issue. Of course, weeks passed and I had to call again. Then again. Woman called me back and said they would be out and said""you're going to pay for the service, right?"" I guess I understand why she said that since there are probably many dissatisfied customers not wanting to pay. I received an invoice for payment of $184 on what took 3 minutes to complete, a job that was their mistake. Don't worry, Ill remit payment but I could never in good conscious recommend Killian to anyone again. Simply an awful way to conduct yourself on what used to be a good family business. One star is generous.

Had troubles with Killian before: rude behavior and failure to provide promised materials. Called them out of desperation to check out slow drain and small leak in basement. Four hundred and fifty dollars later, the workman had flooded our utility room and basement. Never again! They clearly disregard any attention to customer service and professional behavior. Avoid this company at all costs unless you want more water damage than you started with. Wish I could give them zero stars.

VJ Killian has provided excellent biannual maintenance for the furnace and air conditioners at my house for years and so when my water heater began leaking over the weekend, I immediately called them. I left a message with the emergency service to request a call on Monday morning. They called me promptly at 7AM and Tom, the plumber was at the house within 45 minutes. They installed a new water heater and I had hot water again by 10AM. Tom was very professional and courteous and he protected my wood floors in bringing the the new unit and taking out the old one. The price point was as expected. Based on many positive experiences, I would highly recommend VJ Killian.

Recently, I contacted Killian in order to facilitate installation of a new kitchen faucet. I wanted to pay for it and I wanted it done well. I live in New York. I called Killian and they did what I asked in record time. Their labor costs are high but I think it's a case of ""you get what you pay for."" I was grateful that they did such a prompt excellent job...

This company sucks. Never ever ever use them. Way too expensive. Horrible customer service. Made me wait 4 hours. No apology. Very rude. Use someone else!! No stars for them.

Do NOT USE. The VJ Killian Lake Forest office has serviced our home since it was built 20 + years ago.Recently it has provided incomplete service for which they were fully paid. Chris refuses to return calls to schedule the needed/ agreed followup service and the items they worked on were only partially repaired and in need of follow up work. In summary the work they did was poor, the post visit service is worse, and the lack of professionalism is stunning. If this is how they treat a 20 + year customer please be wary.

Just moved to Riverwoods and asked a friend from HIghland Park who she used for plumbing and heating/air-conditioning services and she told me she had been happy with Killian in the past. So I called and they said that a technician would be out to my residence in the morning. By noon, I CALLED to let them know that I've been waiting around all morning and nobody has shown up or bothered to contact me saying that they are running a little late. When I told the woman on the phone that like her, I have to go to work and cannot wait any longer, she stated that the technician just informed her that he ""might"" be able to make it to my home by 1230-1245pm. That's not morning! Seriously, Killian Lake Forest does not win an award for customer service! I am a business owner, and I'd be pissed as hell if I lost a customer over a time-management issue. Accordingly, I understand that a little flexibility could be approached. However, NOBODY from Killian contacted me during the morning hours telling me that they were running late, or would not be able to make it until the afternoon. There are plenty other companies that would be more than happy to take my money and arrive during the time frame they scheduled.

Brought my own furnance filters into the shop for replacement. I figured $100 at the MOST. Bill comes and it is $239! Charged $165 for materials (Filters!) and $74 for labor.
I voiced my displeasure and the wanted to discuss/negotiate. I paid the full bill, never to do business there again. Suggest you do likewise.
