Eddie (and now Russell) have been our plumbers for 30+ years. They are always responsive, often squeezing us in. For example, I called Russell on a Wednesday with a leaking shower faucet and he took care of it first thing on Friday morning. Their work is always thorough. Good people!
I want to comment on the great work that Eddy and Russ from
Urbana Plumbing and Heating have done for me over the past 10 years.
They have installed and maintained sump pumps, reworked my dryer
vent, repaired my garage floor and fixed any plumbing related issues as well as completely remodelling my bathroom. They are dependable and have
always done an excellent job. I think they are the best plumbers in
the area.
We had some water leaking around our sink and toilet. It turns out the the sink leak was due to the faucet part breaking and we needed a new faucet and the toilet leak was because it needed a new wax seal. Neither of these 'fixes' are complicated repairs. They went to get a new faucet from their warehouse and installed it. When we got the bill it was $1,149.00!!!! The faucet was 300.00! and the labor was 849.00! There were two of them that one could have easily done. They never told us how much the faucet was until we saw the charge. There was no PRICE COMPARISON as they have in their ad! The father of the two couldn't stop laughing the whole time we were shocked at the bill. What a rip off. We've had a wax seal replaced before and it was 65.00. There is no way you can justify this expense and we should have taken them to court. They will screw you and laugh the entire time. The older man was bragging about how he put in a new plumbing system for a single woman's 1300 sq foot house that cost her over 100,000.00. Stay away from this company. I've talked to two other plumbing companies and they said that was highway robbery. I'm sick of people taking advantage of others. It was cheaper to get my dog spayed (less than half) but I guess installing a faucet is more difficult, no need for a college education here. and my husband never got a sr.citizen discount on your Tuesday visit. Another lie. FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING. BEWARE. Now you know a problem exists. And if you thought that having a plumbing repair was an ""anxious time"" you sure had a weird way of showing it. Who laughs when you hand someone a bill? Who laughs when the customer questions the bill and you continue to laugh? You think it's a badge of honor to get the problem fixed right the first time? Anyone who claims to be a plumber or electrician or contractor SHOULD get it right the FIRST time or get out of business. Should your doctor boast that he gets the surgery right the first time? You charge more than a doctor. All of this bragging you do to install a faucet and wax ring. It's not professional to lie and overcharge and exaggerate your time spent, at all. The plumbing business should be regulated and not just random pricing at the whim of a con man.
Rianne D.I am sure they do okay work. My review isn't about the work they do. It's about their ability to answer inquiries and exercise some tact. I sent a request via their website to have someone come to our home to diagnose a water temperature issue with our tankless water heater. I didn't hear a response from them so I called. I again inquired if they would be able to service this water heater. The man who answered the phone told me that tankless water heaters are garbage and why, he tells people not to buy them - and no, he won't work on them. Fine, but it felt like indirectly he was saying that I apparently wasn't in the know for water heater purchases, and I am the idiot who bought it so that isn't his problem.
If you don't do that type of service - that's fine. I will call someone else. I do have other plumbing needs from time to time as a home owner, and I will skip past this business when I do. Your exchange with potential customers matters.
*In response to the business reply:
I don't expect you to recommend things you don't think are ""quality"" - but the thing is, I didn't even purchase a tankless water heater. I bought a house and it was already there. When I called for service, I was looking for someone to diagnose the issue and replace the unit if needed. I didn't get that far because the person who took my call was crazy rude. Had he been more customer service oriented, or maybe... I don't know... less condescending- he may have convinced me to get rid of the tankless heater in favor of one of your more recommended units. The conversation never progressed to that point because your representative was busy letting me know that I had a piece of trash in my basement. I am sure many people feel some enthusiasm about their job, but if you want others to see you that way, educate with courtesy. Not everyone will be able to detect the subtle nuance between insult and helpfulness that I guess I totally missed in this exchange.
First of all when I called Urbana plumbing and heating I actually got to speak with Eddie not an answering service. Eddie was very busy as you can imagine two days after Christmas but he was able to come to my house within just a few hours Saint Joe and he fixed the problem with my garbage disposal in a short time. Eddie and his assistant were very courteous and they wore a mask which was important during the midst of Covid. Eddie thoroughly explained what he was going to do and gave me several options which I appreciated. Within 30-40 minutes, Eddie had replaced the garbage disposal at a reasonable price. Eddie and his assistant cleaned the area when he was done. I have nothing but good things to say about Eddie and Urbana plumbing and heating. I would use them again without hesitation and I recommend them to anyone in need of plumbing service.
Solomon B.They squeezed us in their schedule and were very knowledgeable friendly and efficient. Offered options had the replacement on the truck. Wore masks which pleased us. Got very high marks from our dog Nickel. Didn't even bark! Will definitely recommend and use them again. Thanks guys!
My garbage disposal died and I needed a new one. Wasn't sure I wanted the frustration of a DIY install so I asked a friend for a recommendation. He recommended this place. I called and they wanted to sell me a $400+ disposal PLUS installation. I checked and the MSRP was $399, so they're price gouging. I told them I would get my own and they could install it. They informed me that since they're not installing it, the installation wouldn't be guaranteed. So... if they did a crap job, I was on my own. I was also told one would be hard to find, due to supply chain issues. 3 days and $200 later I one was delivered to my door that was way higher rated by ""a leading consumer magazine"". I installed it myself. I had made an appointment for the next day for them to install it, in case I ran into problems. When I called to cancel the appointment for the next day the guy complained that I should have told him sooner. I just finished the self-install 5 minutes earlier.
Will never use this place!
With water spewing on my kitchen floor when I used my kitchen sink I was in a mess trying to get someone to look at what was happening. They answered their phone and were honest about the timeline. They managed to get out to my house a day earlier, which was wonderful. Ed and Russ fixed it right up, solved the problem for good and cleaned up a terrible mess. I'm so thankful for their help and then for taking the time to install a new garbage disposal for me. Thanks guys, you are so appreciated.
David A.I highly recommend Urbana Plumbing and Heating! We got very lucky with our timing and they were able to come out about 30 minutes after we called. They quickly diagnosed the leak under our kitchen sink and said they could fix it, but the faucet was very rusty underneath so they would recommend replacing the faucet. They had a replacement faucet on the truck and just installed it while they were there. Very knowledgeable, personable, and wore a mask the whole time he was there. They have become our go-to plumbers for any future plumbing needs.
I like his work but I don't understand why he charges the time of his trip (driving time from Urbana to my home). I mean his labor charge should be "" only working time in my house work"" not include his driving time to come to my house. And also, in order to replace my kitchen garbage replacing, I don't need to have two plumbers but he came with his company to replace it so I had to pay 2 plumbers labor charges. I wished I knew before they came. I would rather hire one plumber for $100 for an hour.
