If you are looking for help around the house Dehn is your man! I found Dehn on yelp and hired him to hang a very heavy mantel above our fireplace. He did a wonderful job! He arrived on time and was in and out quickly all while providing detailed work at a fair price. I will certainly keep him in mind if I have other projects to be done. Thanks Dehn!

When I contacted Dehn, I sent him photos of the three things I needed addressed so he could give me an honest assessment as to whether he could repair them and, to get a quote.

After seeing the projects in person, Dehn confirmed that would fix the issues. He did a good job replacing a wood strip separating the carpet from the wood kitchen floor. And, he repaired a small 6"" board on the deck which just need to be bolstered but not replaced.

The third problem was the door to the outside deck. It had a space under the door and by the door's hinge down by the bottom where air was coming in. Despite weather-stripping, I still had to insert a towel under there to keep cold air and dust from coming into the house.

Dehn put a sweep at the bottom of the door and installed new weather stripping (which I paid for) on both sides of the frame. That stopped the air from coming in at the bottom of the door. But when he showed me what he had done and then shut the door as if the project was complete, I opened it back up because I noticed that there was approx. a 5"" slit of light coming through at the top of the door. And, that there was a 2"" gap at the very top where there was no weather-stripping. (Something Dehn did not even bother to acknowledge until I asked him about it. I could only assume that he cut the weather-stripping too short.) I pushed on the door and the light disappeared. In other words, because of Dehn's efforts, the door no longer closed properly. Dehn assured me that what I am seeing is just a minor slit; that no air would leak into the house.

Well, the first windy day, just a few days later, wind whistled through that ""minor slit"" like a high-pitched girl in distress. I held up a sheet of paper by the area and it fluttered. When I contacted Dehn about it, he said that I could either buy a storm door and he would install it for $160 or, for an additional $145, that he would ""retrofit"" the weather-stripping. I would have like to think that he would have ""retrofit"" the weather-stripping when he was here so that the job would have been done properly... the first time.

There are 68 condos in my HOA; 2 condos to a building. Most everyone used the same contractor for years until he moved out of state. He made a great living just servicing these 68 condos. He was thorough and honest. When he left, he said that in good conscience, there was no one he knew that he could recommend. Since then, several of us in the HOA have used contractors through Angie's List and Home Advisor, with poor results. And now, from this latest experience of mine, the same result via Yelp.

- I stuck a 2"" piece of weather-stripping on the door where there was none and caulked around it. I then shaved a small slice off the weather-stripping on the lower hinge side of the door. The door shuts tight and there are no more leaks. It took me 5 minutes.

We will definitely use Dehn again. He came and helped me cross a couple projects off my list quickly and reasonably. He hung a ceiling fan for us and installed house numbers on our brick home. He was friendly and did great work!

Having called Dehn for a Panasonic Whispergreen continuous ventilation bathroom fan installation, he responded that his calendar was overfull at the moment but provided referral to Jeremiah Forster. Bought fan unit from amazon; there was a lot of gray area with the product installation including removing existing 3"" ductwork, replacing with 6"" duct, opening/enlarging drywall and holes in brick exterior wall. Jeremiah was consultative, professional and went far beyond what I could even consider doing myself. Most pleased. Can understand why both are so busy yet would certainly call again for variety of projects.

Dehn is simply excellent. He showed up on time (a couple minutes early actually) and did exactly what I needed. This followed a couple email and text exchanges setting out what the job was. He professionally installed my new locks and peephole, quickly, cleaned the area like new, and was done. I'll definitely call him again when needed!

Dehn, a.k.a Urban Handyman is the ninja of handymen... from beginning to end, he is clear and concise. Starting with a detailed quote, up to the minute response time with any questions before the job, and an easy on-line approval once the job is decided upon. I have been using contractors, and a variety of independent builders over the past 10 years for my 'ol 1947 house, (much of the work done while i was not on site) and BY FAR, Dehn has been the most professional.
Once the job has started Dehn shows up on time, meticulously finishes his work and strives to deliver the best quality in workmanship. Even down to the clean up and disposal of old materials, Dehn takes care of it all with ease, professionalism and efficiency-- and as many have stated, his prices are very reasonable!
Dehn replaced 4 windows, installed a new fiberglass door on the side of my garage, tore out an old single garage door and installed a sliding glass door, built an exterior awning over a basement door, installed a new toilet, tore out my old bathtub, and re-built a new base for the new tub surround, replaced my bathroom faucet, installed a small glass shelf, and replaced some light fixtures-- all workmanship was top notch; from the tight fitting windows to the perfectly aligned door-- I will be using Dehn for a large portion of the future work to be done on my house. Trustworthy, skilled craftsmanship, efficient, professional and reasonable. What more can you ask for!!!

Dehn is a true professional! I knew he was going to be good based on all the outstanding reviews on Yelp but he exceeded my expectations! He is a professional, prompt, trustworthy, and his craftsmanship is outstanding. No task is too big or too small. His estimate/ invoicing system and being able to pay him via Paypal is just top notch. Can't wait to use him again on other home improvement items.

Dehn was great! He arrived on time, was very professional, and cleaned up before he left. As many others have commented, his pricing is very fair (and he gives you an accurate estimate before he comes out to do the work so there aren't surprises). I will definitely use Urban Handyman next time I need things done (or if something comes up) around my condo!

Dehn (pronounced Dane) is nothing less than AMAZING. After dealing with several flaky, unprofessional independent contractors, I was feeling nervous that it was just going to remain our unfortunate lot. Then comes Dehn... TaDa! From start to finish, he was prompt, 100% professional, cool as a cucumber and was a complete joy to work with. We had 2 separate closet doors replaced and new french doors installed with a transom window above. They are absolutely stunning! His work has absolutely exceeded our expectations.
