I have used MB in the past and it was great, they have now merged with Urban Design and pricing has changed. Apparently you have to pay for when they aren't even at your house and go back to their site to pick up a part... A part that they probably should have had on hand. Ridiculous. My future business is lost

Urban Design Solar was great. Starting with Max, which by the way, is the reason we went with Urban Design. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a pretty easy choice. They were fast and clean, got us up and running with no problems. We have been thinking about solar for a number of years now, and I'm not sorry we used Urban Design.

They have great customer service until something goes wrong. (The ladies handling customer service were wonderful every time I spoke with them.)
I thought they were supposed to be monitoring my system according to what they told me in the sales call when I purchased the system. After having a month of not producing any energy, I had to catch it. And then it took two weeks for the right person to call me back. When I tried to clarify to see why they had not caught this issue. They told me ""well we have way too many customers to be monitoring your system. You wouldn't expect your car dealer to know when your car needs an oil change!!"" But I would expect them to know if a major malfunction like not producing energy were to occur. In fact, two weeks ago prior to me calling my wife noticed one of their employees on the side of our house, unannounced, doing something with our system. But not even the owner, Sean, knows what that person is doing there or why. Only that that person has ""move on"" and no longer works there.They acted like I was ridiculous for even considering that they might be monitoring the system that they told me that they were going to be monitoring. Then they confused me by sending a person out to randomly troubleshoot two weeks ago... How did they know something was wrong if they didn't have the ability to monitor it? Why don't they tell the customers when one of their employees are coming out to come on my property? Why don't they know what that person was doing?
I understand that stuff happens and nothing is perfect. But the attitude I got from the person who turned out to be the owner is unacceptable! Tens of thousands of dollars spent $$$ and this is how the owner treats their customers. Just beware. Lots of good companies out there but this one is not what it appears to be. Ironically, I chose this company because of the good customer service reviews!

We hired Urban Design Solar to put a large solar system on our building in Chico, California, Skyway Tool Center. We have good sun exposure and had been paying enormous electric bills for years - from $800 to $1600 per month - until we had the solar system installed in 2015. We took bids from quite a few solar installation companies in the Chico area, but after studying it we decided to go with Urban Design Solar.

They came out immediately and put up the system quickly and efficiently. They made no mistakes in the entire install and put up a system that we LOVE. Our PG&E bill went from $1600 a month in the summer to about $200 a month, and even less in the winter. We figure we earned back the money we spent on this solar system in the four years since we had it put in. The owner and employees at Urban Design Solar are friendly, professional, and hard working. I highly recommend.
