Up to Code Plumbing' is the most unprofessional home repair company I have ever encountered. The pipe connecting my home with the city sewer line was damaged and I had been having drainage issues as a result. This is a fairly large job and was surprised--and a little doubtful--when they told me (on Sunday evening) that they would have the job done by Tuesday at noon.
They quoted me a reasonable price overall but asked for $500 upfront to purchase materials, which I gave them. Work was supposed to begin Monday at 8:30 am. When they finally showed up at noon that day they worked for 4-5 more hours before quitting. At this point they informed me that they would need ANOTHER $500, but assured me they would be back the following morning to finish the job, as they had left an open 40 foot trench along the side my house with raw sewage draining into it.
The following day (Tuesday) I was notified via text message of 'an emergency' that had come up, and informed that they would not be able to come out to my house that day, but would now finish the job the following day (Wednesday). This was a lie, as Wednesday came and went with no sign on the plumber, and this time he didn't even bother to notify me, just didn't show up. At this point the job completion date was two days past what I had been quoted, I had paid them $1000 for aprox. 5 actual hours of work done thus far and there was raw sewerage ditch the length of my house that had been dug and then left there to fester for over 48 hours (a huge health hazard as I have two young children in the home).
The following day (Thursday) they did return (around noon) a did a few more hours of work. Upon completion of work that day--with the job still unfinished and the sewerage ditch still festering--they asked for more money, and threatened to refused to leave my property until I paid. I informed them that I would pay the rest of the agreed upon repair cost but that this payment would come at the completion of the job, I had already paid a significant portion up front and was very unhappy with how my property had been left & they were at that point more than 2 days behind and still not finished. At this point the wife of the plumber began incessantly calling me and harassing me, demanding that I pay him that day. I was appalled at how unprofessional this all was and maintained that I would pay them the balance of the contract upon completion. They never got that money however because that was the last I saw of them. They never returned to fix the 40 ft raw sewerage ditch they left in my yard and I was out $1000 with no actual repairs being done. Please take this story, and the included picture of my lovey sewerage moat into consideration when vetting plumbers, I highly recommend you DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.
