Went to check heating element for my dryer. He checked with meter the thermostat and that was all. He told me thermo fuse was on machine and I would need serial number of machine. I told him thermo fuse was on part I brought. Says he couldn't check because it needed power for meter to work. I had left. Went to Suffolk appliance in Bayshore. Right away checked voltage and found put coil was bad. Took 2 min. No idea why the man at universal had no idea what he was doing. Not helpful at all

Just wanted to say how happy I am with Universe Home Services in Seaford. I have used them for just about everything in my house at one point--my CAC, broken appliances and heating system. Today I had a leaky shower that would not shut off. Their employee explained the problem and fixed it quickly. It is always a pleasure to deal with them--nice employees and exceptional work. Recommend them highly!

Plumbing was fantastic as well as the HVAC. We used them a few times and when it came to the kitchen renovation, we decided to use them for electrical. After that, my opinion drastically changed. It's two different divisions so my review is on the electrical. The head electrician was Joe Diacomo and the initial clean up was great. After saying he was taking care of us so many times, when it came to the finishing as well as items that we thought were included it has been a nightmare. Under cabinet lights, he said he forgot to include that after we had signed the contract despite being discussed and confirming we would do that, and then he charged us another $1000 half way through the job. WE failed our electrical inspection two times for just sloppy work. For our stove, it was clicking and when we went to the Wolf Technical help site, they told us to check to see if the polarity was reversed, we called the head electrician, Joe Diacomo, and his answer regarding our brand new stove was, I think you need a new stove in a cocky way (Implying it's not his work). We had the Wolf technician come out and they checked and sure enough it was a reverse polarity. We then had to call Universe again to complain to have Joe come out to fix that. Then we failed at other parts of the kitchen. Again sloppy work. Failed for lack of GFI outlets in areas that were suppose to be placed, reverse polarity again. We called to complain to Joe and we were just referred to the main electrical department. They had to convert to ARC breakers because we failed the town electrical inspection again. If these are suppose to be professionals, we should have not had so many issues and they should be aware of what needs to be in place to be up to code. We had other issues with the under cabinet LED lights staying on due to incorrect switches that we had to call to complain about. Kathy, who handled appointments would get back to us, but it was after we had to call to complain and constantly follow up. Everything with the Electrical Department was a hassle. We had referred many people in the past to Universe, but after this experience, never again. Joe Diacomo started great, but it's what happens at the finish that was important and with all the failed inspections, it became such a hassle. Will NEVER recommend anyone to Universe. Stay away from the electrical side.

Be extremely careful with a company that appears more interested in a non refundable service call fee rather than providing a competent estimate to resolve, in my case, a lavatory sink faucet and shower head drip issue.

Following the few minutes spent fiddling with the sink faucet and squeezing in and out of the shower stall, the Universal rep walked into my kitchen and over the next 15 minutes(+-) carefully prepared a smorgasbord of fee estimates topped out at an astonishing $1,772.79!

If the ""rep"" spent a few minutes more in the bathroom doing plumbing rather than in my kitchen creatively writing, he would have discovered that my faucet needed replacement and that the shower head drip could easily be resolved with a simple $10.00 fix.

I went ahead with the replacement/repair via an alternate professional who did not charge for his initial estimate and ultimately did it all at at less than 1/3 Universal's fee ""estimate"" cost!

Looks like Universal would rather sit, write and collect on fee estimates than actually do a bit of work.

Unfortunately, I'm out the estimate ""fee"" which is the why of this piece of writing.

In my opinion, take an ""alternate"" route.

This company is awesome. They were quick to schedule me for next day for service, and fixed my problem in 10 minutes.

The day previous to Universal arrival, I threw another company out of my house for sensing hidden motives/ and a devious/manipulative $4,000 diagnosis.

Eric showed up from universal who was an honest and extremely competent technician. He showed me my capacitor wire was melted off and would be a simple fix with a replacement. For a very reasonable price, he made the repair and I was back to cranking 60 degrees from my vents in minutes.

Thank you for your honesty and efficiency Universal. My experience was exceptional.

I hate to write this, but we had a problem this year with our AC, and had them come out. The tech insisted we get an entire new Ac? He really couldn't explain why. So I called management and they told me the manager would return my call but never did after multiple attempts. Very strange. We called a friend of a friend and $900 later the system was changed out and functioning perfectly. He explained exactly what was wrong.
My experience with these companies is that it's fine to hire them to do the install, but find someone else to maintain them whose not looking to screw you out of your money.

Avoid this company for air conditioning repair. They did not have the skills or knowledge to work on my unit. Another company came and was able to identify the problem and fix it in 5 minutes.

My AC was not running cold so I called around to see if I can get it serviced. I ended up calling all weather and they said I needed a txv valve and a new coil. I was quoted for 3100 so I tried the manufacturer which was universe, the system was put in 2 years ago from them. Apparently the last owner didn't put the warranty in my name but universe said it was ok and not to worry about it and that they would come take a look at it after I explained to them what the other company said the issue was. I spoke to a guy named Tim and he said listen it definitely sounds like the txv valve is bad and we can replace it because it under warranty and the coil is under warranty as well but I would like to replace the txv and go from there because if I replace the txv valve and everything works then I don't have to take a hit on the coil.


I understood where he was coming from and he assured me that if the txv didn't fix it then he would then replace the coil and he said it would cost 1700. Ok it's a business I get it why replace both if just the one is the issue. Fine the ycome and everyone is professional and nice and everything seems to be working. 3 days later the air isn't cold anymore so I called and they said since they were just there I wouldn't get charged the 150 or whatever for coming out. The tech comes and again he's nice and professional and says their is a blockage on the coil why wasn't that replaced when we were here last time, I said Tim said we were gonna try the txv first and now they want to charge me another 1700. I have been calling for weeks Tim is so busy he's in and out of the office but they will discount it to 900. Hmmm no you guys said you would replace the part if it was bad why would not have you guys replace both in one shot.... because your tech Tim said not to that's not my fault you have to come out again and not your dodge my calls and I'm getting bounced around and no one is calling me back. I have been calling since around June 24th.

This is probably as much of a surprise to you as it is to me. But Universe Home Services is not as honest and as friendly as it may seem.

Yes, they have wonderful color coupons in all the town fliers. They come in a clean marked van with a clean marked uniform. They are professional on the phone as well as in person.

But then the problems begin when your paying for an air conditioning tune up and your getting soft sold on some items. Okay, no problem your trying to make some money it's a business.

But when you tell your customers that everything is good when it's not that's when you lose me. I was told the air was blowing well and cold. They said to start saving because the unit was old but for now it was still working perfectly fine.

Tell me how you didn't clean out my condenser unit, tell me about the rust problems, or find the leak? I called another company to come out to check it because it wasn't working after they serviced it.

I was told that it was rusted, leaking, and falling apart.
That it needed to be refueled with new fluids. How could you miss this and ruin my central air system?

Now I'll be getting a big bill to replace everything when your company said everything was fine. Your the worst never calling you again for anything.

To think I referred your company to other people and I am now embarrassed! Stay away from this company that just had good customer service skills but poor diagnostic skills.
