$380.00 to replace a 90.00 part. Total time was 20 minutes. If you can't rip off local people, who can you rip off!

They stock parts but the prices are pretty high. If you need the part ASAP, you will pay dearly. It doesn't seem fair to charge $14.00 for a $3.00 fuse or $30 for a $14 ignitor/ heating element.

If you don't have time to take off for work, do not get the service contract. They are not available anytime after five or on the weekends, except for a service call. When you call for service they try to troubleshoot so that they don't have to send anyone out. To receive preventative maintenance which is stated in your service contract you must call within a stated amount of time, if not you'll be put on a wait list and never called back. In short, service is not high on their list so they should remove the word service from their service contract and just call it a plain contract. I will not be renewing my service contract next year.

Universe replaced my existing Furnace/A Coil system. Professional, fast and timely. System appears to be running fine. Their pricing was in line with other quotes i received. I recommend them.

I am a long standing customer of Universe Appliance for at least 10 years. Saturday my refrigerator broke. I called Universe as I have a contract with them for heating and central air conditioning. Irena answered the phone and I told her my dilemma.
She was very aloof on the phone and told me the service availability was only Tuesday. ( 4 days without a refrigerator?)
I explained that I had a freezer filled with food as well as the refrigerator. I also asked if there were any available emergency hours for the customer who just experienced
an appliance breakdown. "" No"" Irena answered, ""shall I give you the appointment Tuesday?"" No thank you.

I am extremely disappointed in the customer service from this staff member and she needs to be reminded that if it wasn't for the consumer and broken appliances, heating, air conditioning SHE WOULD NOT HAVE A JOB.

I will not refer any friends nor neighbors to Universe. It would be too problematic with their response to the public.

Had a hot water pipe burst in this 10 degree weather. With no heat or hot water I called a dozen plumbers. 8 said sorry we are too busy, one said see you tomorrow and that will be $375 to just come, the other one was $325 and see you in 9 hours. Called Universe and they said see you within 3 hours and $125 fee!! They get my vote!!!

I never really use yelp. But this time I had to. I can't recommend universe enough. I have used them for years and tell friends. They never let anyone down. Prompt clean reliable and KNOWLEDGEABLE. I never worry about issues with my appliances I know they are honest I am thrilled they are doing plumbing and electric now. One stop shop for me!!!

Universe's thermostats replacement job was quick. They replace one for us. and charged us $390. After the installation, I checked the brand online, its ""White Rodgers"". People can buy it typically at Home Depot for $50 bucks. so their service charge is $340.

Save your time and money and call someone else! They install appliances, which then break repeatedly, and after your ""free service contract"" - of a whopping 12 months - expires, you're expected to pay $110+ tax just to have them diagnose the issue. I've had a water heater, boiler and ductless a/c installed by them, all of which I've had major, major issues with. They seem to make good money off customers whom they install appliances for- since they all seem to break down. Nice business model!
