I started my career in the appliance industry in 1992 as a service technician. In 1996, I opened my first retail showroom, Best Maytag Home Appliance Center, in Los Angeles. In 1997, I opened a second store in Sherman Oaks, followed by The Maytag Store in Northridge in 1999. In 2000, I founded Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. From humble beginnings as a two-person store in Sherman Oaks, CA, Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center has evolved into two showrooms featuring tens of thousands of products in categories like appliances, plumbing fixtures, water filtration, and outdoor barbecues.

If you think you are buying from a high end store with great customer service think twice. Bought 25k worth of appliances and got ignored when we needed help. Coffee machine doesn't work and to this date we are being ignored. Ice maker produces no ice...and they keep saying we will send someone to look at it....no one even calls back. Shame on you Darren. You suck!!!

We needed an entire kitchen of appliances, Sub-Zero fridge, Wolfe oven, Bosch dishwasher, Miele speed-oven, and a small drink fridge. Universal had it all and Tim Mumford of the Agoura branch found, guided, and advised us throughout the selection process. He got us a great deal on all the products, and the installation services were top notch. A great place to shop with knowledgeable employees.

This is a difficult review because it is a two parter. I needed a new dishwasher. I called Universal and the saleslady was exceptionally professional. I purchased the dishwasher.
Then disaster struck. The dishwasher was delivered by the in house delivery company. The charge was $129.00. The delivery men had to turn off my water to complete the installation. In doing so they had to have passed the hot water heater a dozen times. That notwithstanding they did not unplug the recirculating pump thus causing it to breakdown. The pump needed to be replaced.
The cost of the pump replacement was MORE then the cost of the dishwasher. I called Universal and spoke to a manager and explained what had happened. He was cognizant of the problem and agreed that the installation men should be cautioned about recirculating pumps.
Even though I mentioned the cost to replace the pump and he agreed that the installation men should have known about the need to unplug the pump he made no offer to refund the installation fee.
Look, I'm a good enough lawyer to realize this is a he said/he said problem, but come-on already, if you admit it may be your fault at least make an offer.
So, be cautious when paying Universal for installation. Heck, maybe you should just accept delivery and have your own plumber do the installation.

Took about a hour looking for a filter lg as401wwa1 found one here had a price 69.99 then went to check out shipping cost more than the item it self omg 90 bucks on shipping yea right see ya I'm no fool

I was at the start of a kitchen remodel when I visited Universal Appliance. I needed everything (refrigerator, dishwasher, range top, downdraft and microwave).

It was my intention to look at what they had to offer and shop a couple of other places prior to making a decision.

When I walked in Md approached me immediately asking if he could help. I informed him of what I was shopping for and told him I was only interested in Subzero/Wolf.

He was extremely helpful and was careful to describe and show me the displays and the pros and cons of each item. He then sat with me and gave me the price of everything including delivery and installation with any discounts the manufacturer was currently offering and told me he could have the specs to my remodelers by the following day.

Because Md was so professional and knew the appliances well enough to guide me to the appliances that would be most compatible for my kitchen, I signed a contract and put down a deposit on that day.

I wanted to work with Md because he made it easy for me to make choices by thoroughly explaining the benefits of certain appliances and asking good questions about how I used them.

It was weeks later before my kitchen was done, but Md kept in touch with me and my remodelers and made sure all of the specs were correct.

I couldn't have been more delighted when my appliances were delivered and installed. The installers were polite and professional. They cleaned up behind themselves and made sure each appliance worked correctly and gave me an overview of each one before they left.

Md got in touch with me while things were being installed to make sure everything was going well, even though it happened to be his day off.

I couldn't have asked for better or more professional service.

Beware! They will take your money, not show up three times and then bring you an appliance that doesn't fit. Reporting to better business bureau and filing a claim. Never in my life has my money and time been so disrespected. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. The owner has no care for her clients at all- it's a miracle they are in business. Only a matter of time till they are not and I will certainly be spreading the word.

I have to say I am very angry about what happened today.

After, waiting 7 MONTHS to get our dishwasher replaced, it arrives, delivered by you, a sales man, not an experienced installer with the right equipment, and somehow I have to do part of the work to help you figure it out. Then I see new scratches on our new wood floor, that weren't there prior to your arrival, and when I mentioned it to you, you chose not to take responsibility and instead blame it on the man doing work in my garage and his shoes. C'mon Darren. Shoes don't make scratches like that. Dishwashers and dolly's do.

I have to say THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE IVE HAD WITH AN APPLIANCE COMPANY and I'm more disappointed because I thought you were so much better than this. I chose to follow you from DWC because of the relationship we had, even though they were offering me the same exact deal you gave me.

I was unable to have this conversation with you in person due to my children being present and the anger I was holding, as well as my time commitment to be somewhere. I hope you choose to do the right thing and compensate us for the floor scratches. Even though we have waited 7 months because you originally sent us the wrong dishwasher, I would have rather waited for you to send a proper installer with proper gear to protect the floor.

I bought my Blue Star range from MD. In my previous review I said I would return to Universal Appliances if I needed another appliance. Well my 19 year old 48 inch KitchenAide refrigerator stopped working. I called MD and he gave me the best replacement price, the delivery and installation was great and he followed up on every detail. I hope I don't loose another appliance, but if I do I will return again to MD at Universal. He is the best!
