I entered the appliance field in 1992, starting as a technician. In 1996, I launched my first retail outlet, Best Maytag Home Appliance Center, in Los Angeles. The following year, I opened a second location in Sherman Oaks, and in 1999, I launched The Maytag Store in Northridge. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center was founded in 2000. From humble beginnings as a two-person store in Sherman Oaks, CA, Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center has evolved into two showrooms featuring tens of thousands of products in categories like appliances, plumbing fixtures, water filtration, and outdoor barbecues.

There is a copy of my receipt with my personal information redacted for privacy of myself and sale associate, additionally the scheduled installation did not occur on the date promised resulting in delay. The review was reflection of my overall experience.

Update: So the appliance was finally delivered at 3:00 pm. However, on top of poor management of the deliveries, and lack of consideration of my time, we experienced the old ""bait and switch"" tactic. We were told the installers would put the custom panel on the face of the unit. When the installers arrived, they refused. I'm sure of this fact because I had Dillon call the installers when I purchased the unit (about a month prior to delivery) to ensure the panel would be installed. Dillon called the installers, and Dillon confirmed it would be part of the installation. I expressed my relief to Dillon that I didn't have to find another company. To my disappointment, Jesse, would not cover the $150.00 extra charge I incurred, or any part thereof. Again, shame on you Jesse. If your salesman makes a promise you, as a Manager, should stand by it. (You didn't even check the notes on the day of the sale.). Maybe your sales people don't keep notes. If so, another example of poor management. I was offered no compensation for the very poor management, nor for the lack of consideration of my time, nor for the ""bait and switch"" I experienced.

Being in the service industry, you should understand the importance of communication and good faith. Additionally, you should know how much a simple phone call would have helped. It would have gone such a long way just to feel like someone cared. Also, you should have had a copy of the delivery schedule instead of knowing nothing, or attempted to contact the person who wrote the schedule in the Santa Clarita Warehouse, so you could have learned something, AND, you should have been able to contact the driver far more expeditiously. Again, it feels like you've never done this before. My experience was disappointing, frustrating, avoidable and unnecessary. SHAME.

This 5 star review is Ryan McElroy at the Calabasas location. I would give him a 10 star review if I could. We lost our home in the Palisades Fire. We were lucky to find a home to rent, but needed a refrigerator, washer/dryer and dishwasher ASAP. Ryan spent an ENTIRE day going through every box at the Santa Clarita outlet to find us brand new, unused appliances at an affordable price and arranged rush delivery so that when we moved into our rental location we could feel less untethered and lost. Ryan was compassionate, smart, beyond knowledgeable, and determined to help us. I purchased all my appliances from UAKC in Calabasas for my home that we lost to the fire, and I can say without a doubt I will be returning once my home is rebuilt and hope Ryan will be there to help me once again. Run do not walk and ask for Ryan!

Gotta give a big shout out to Ryan McElroy of Universal Appliance who went above and beyond to help us get a new fridge and make sure the installation went as smoothly as possible.

After spending hours on the phone (and FaceTime) to ensure our measurements were accurate and that a replacement fridge would fit our space, he even showed up to our installation when it became apparent that our interior doorframes were going to be an issue for the installers to navigate. His professionalism, problem solving and attention to detail is bar none.

Can't express enough how thrilled we were to work with Ryan and we look forward to working with him again when we need to replace our other kitchen appliances.

This five star review is for Ryan McElroy who spent a great deal of time with us to come up with a solution to a complex problem. We had a built-in fridge that died and needed a replacement that would fit like a glove.. no easy feat given how appliance specs change year-to-year, plus the model we had previously was on back-order and the quality had taken a down-turn as well.

Ryan went above and beyond in helping us find something that would work. He meticulously took every step to ensure that what he was selling us was not only going to fit our needs today, and that it was also high-quality fridge that would last 20+ years... but equally important, that it would fit in the space we have. (They are going to do a pre-inspection of the space before they deliver too!) Honorable mentions go to Darren Zellner and Jessie Dominguez who pitched in to get us over the finish line too.
