Let me start out by saying that not all personnel in this company are disrespectful or unprofessional.

With this said-

They are an American Home Shield (AHS) contractor and I have had bad experiences with AHS and it's choice of service companies.

AHS Assigned Contractor - United Air Temp
When United Air Temp showed-up at my house, their senior level technician and manager took all but 5 minutes to miss the mark. He assessed the water in the pan of my water heater as water coming from the condensation of my HVAC air exchanger. Yes, both are on the same drain system, but both the HVAC drain and the water heater pan drain all flow to one, down hill, drain spot (from opposite positions and pipes) AND given the drain design there is no way for the water to backup into my water heater pan. The HVAC draining liquid would have to jump over a non-clogged 90 degree 3/4 hole drop off into the sewer. My contractor was there, explained this to United and the guy from United was more interested in leaving quickly,

Fast forward- We had to call the United tech back out a couple hours later and proved our point. It was his responsibility to diagnose correctly to begin with. Said United technician called AHS and Rheem, the water tank manufacturer. He said the tank would have to be replaced and he couldn't do it for 2 weeks,,, said United couldn't meet the immediacy of this issue because they were ""short staff."" Said that a water leak from a water heater wasn't important, yes, said this. Told me to turn my hot water off for two weeks. Oh, and he slapped me with a $1k bill on top of the warranty- typical.

Fast forward- Later in the day I called United to see what could be done. The first operator said that she read my notes and that the only way to do this is if I went to Home Depot and loaded a water tank in a truck and brought it back. ""People do it all do the time"" she said. So I am AHS insured, United is a preferred AHS provider (under contract) and I would have to pay $1k extra for the work,,, makes sense I would have to go get my own truck and Lloyd a water heater at Home Depot...! Amateur hour and quite honestly disrespectful. My situation isn't a joke.

Later in the day, after much argument and issues I was finally able to get a hold of a manger above the technician from United. He was a nice guy, tried to be helpful. We went round and round (professionally) a bit, but couldn't guarantee any results. He did finally call me back later in the day and try to see what could be done. I feel like this gentleman's hands were tied with the mistakes of his subordinates and the Rheem tank return- ie would have to sit in a Home Depot and personally pickup my tank. In the end I lost my trust in this company because it was so much trial and error and honestly I wasn't treated at all professionally until the end. A company that touts so many awards and one in ""business ethics"" lost my trust and even with the professional senior manager involved, trust couldn't be regained.... I couldn't trust that they would come through even with the best of final promises. Too much back and forth, hemming and hawing.

United has lost its way. They knew that I'm overseas on orders with my family and they basically left us to the wolves. They knew I had a military family moving into my house on Monday and they flat out didn't care (5 hours of back and forth).

As a veteran, a public servant for almost 20years and someone who will be hosting a military family in my house, I am ashamed for United and their treatment. I don't expect special treatment, I expect to be treated professionally and not like a $ number.

Stay away from them.

Thought it was smart to take advantage of their summer pre-check. Spent over 100 for two units. The AGent said everything is working fine. Two days later, one unit is not working. Strange? Would not use them again.

I got the AC service for my Condo at Carlton House and paid for the service and have been struggling for last two weeks to get the receipt of the work. Will never use them again. They will take your call but will never follow up, worst customer service. AVOID them.

They're the WORST !!! SIX days and MULTIPLE calls ago, they were supposed to come out and replace a faulty thermostat. The BEST we have gotten out of these louses is a bunch of EMPTY promises.
We've been here sweating all this time, and the lack of air conditioning has aggravated my wife's asthma to the point she's had to use her nebulizer often during this waiting period.
If United Air Temp can't be bothered to respond to service calls, they should at least have the common decency to SAY it, so another company can be called. The COMPLETE PITS!
STINK!!! STINK!!! STINK !!! BOO!! HISS!!! BOO!!!

These ppl came out bc my NEW ac condenser would not turn on ( the red & white wires leading to the furnace were crossed and the valve was never opened to release the refridgerant) The tech was clearly competent fixed the wiring and I saw the condenser start. He even adjusted something on the thermostat.

Then came the hussle! He said I needed a $1000 TXV added to my coil because it was using R22 and not R410. Of course, this isn't coveted by American Home Shield.

He wasn't called about a coil. He returned everything to its inoperable state and send me an invoice from his truck saying I needed to upgrade my furnace $645 and coil $395. This was after I informed him that a coil only cost $295.

I actually have one. Now, my only option is to crawl to the other side of my furnace and install the coil I have as I cant afford to pay anyone to open the valve. I will buy a service wrench from amazon and do it myself.

Got assigned to them by American Home Shield (which, since American Home Shield normally sucks, I was worried), but they got the call late Saturday night. Terrible time for my heat to go out, and last night was COLD. Monday during the day they were here, friendly as can be, got it fixed in like 15 minutes.

Dealing with them on the phone was pleasant, dealing with them in person was pleasant. Dealing with the person in the office was pleasant. Dealing with the tech was pleasant.

If I ever have a heat issue again, I'll make sure that I request them specifically.

I have been having them do my yearly maintenance on my water heater and furnace. Today, I had a really nice gentleman came out for service from Germantown, MD area (I think his name was M. Haider). He was very professional and kept his distance and mask on while he performed the service.

I been blessed with an EXTRAORDINARY HVAC tech, Greg Christian, for almost four years now. He is *consistently* very professional, knowledgeable of his job, trustworthy, he listens, Greg is patient, focused and efficient, very kind, friendly and although I am definitely not the only customer at UAT, Greg and the team treat me as if I am. There is no other service professional I trust more in my home than Greg, I am so thankful for his professionalism and skillful care.
This review is for yet another call he came to the rescue...my heat pump was making a noise as loud as construction, no joke. I have the HVAC plan (highly recommend btw) and he happened to be the tech for the same day call! He was here as promised, in the cold, rainy, dark evening and got to work right away on the heat pump outside. Completed straight away! He explained the issue, work performed, what to do if happens again (it was ice- Greg was confident moving forward, it was me asking what if...) and was cheerfully here to help. My HVAC is critical for my health issues and this is in no way the first time after he has left, I have cried with gratitude.
I also want to include a shout out for Holly in the office who scheduled the call for me and was more efficient than I could have hoped for!! Again!
And...Brenden the (helpful with a capital H) HVAC manager for replying immediately when I initially couldn't get through on the phones to schedule. I can only imagine what a very busy day it was for UAT with the weather like this and yet they showed up. Figuratively and literally. Thank you!!
If you are looking for a trusted, skilled company, 100% UAT!

What's the point of having a 24hr after hours service if no one answers or returns your call after you left several messages. I reluctantly accepted a water heater service from them and now I have no hot water and no one is responding to my calls. I decided to read the label on my hot water heater which says no service required and DO NOT disassemble which their tech must not have read because my system was certainly disassembled when I checked in on him because of all the clanking noises I heard coming from the room. Very disappointed and plan on discontinuing my service with them.. if I can ever get an answer or someone to call me back! -Upper Marlboro, MD

I have to seriously question the validity of the 5-star reviews listed as I have dealt with this company for over a decade after they installed 2 HVAC units and I have NEVER received 5-star service. From sending techs that could not diagnose problems with the unit leading to delays until more trained/experienced techs arrived, faulty installation of parts, jury-rigging wiring, to missing a significant issue with unit wiring that led to an electrical fire that could have burned down a house with a family including 2 toddlers in it (for which the regional manager didn't even apologize) I have had nothing but frustration. Though I am still under warranty for 1 of the units I am no longer going to apply it as they fail to uphold it. This summer when the AC went out it took a week for them to show, 3 visits to diagnose and 2 weeks later still no repair! And lets not forget all the pressure sales of add-on services. They even told my tenant that there was black mold on the air handler but for $200, on sale that very day, they could remediate it! My tenant was beside himself until I arranged for the health department and a mold remediation company to come in and verify that there was NO black mold. It was simply dirty.
