Do NOT Use this company. If I could rate this company less than one star I would. They took advantage of my Mom to a criminal extent. Mom is 92. Mom's 15 year old water heater started to leak so we got involved with Unique through the Home Depot website. I thought that using a Home Depot suggested contractor service would be smart. I picked out the replacement water heater on the Home Depot website which was the exact direct replacement including the same manufacturer size and rating. This was going to be a an easy install and would provide removal and disposal of the old heater. I figured with the new heater labor and disposal $600-$800 tops. We set an appointment for a quote which there was to be no charge. Unique showed up and told her that the part, labor, disposal, and additional parts needed would be north of $1200. They also said that they could install it immediately. Mom was given no explanation of the charges or even any options. Mom was overwhelmed but agreed to the service. The tech showed up a short time later, spent 45 minutes to replace the water heater. He added a surge tank, overflow tray, new shut off valve and took away the old unit. Mom had been left no paperwork or explanation of the extras but she was handed the receipt for her C/C bill. Mom called me later and let me know that she felt that she was scammed. Mom took down all the details and tried to contact Unique for a itemized invoice. Unique was not responsive. After many visits back to Home Depot and phone attempts Mom finally got an unsigned quote dated two monthsvAFTER the work was completed. Unique installed OPTIONAL items that were not needed or ordered. Unique even charged for a city building permit for $150. There was no permit applied for nor was it required since this was a simple exchange. They charge over $200 for a $10 shut off valve. The added pan and surge tank was also not required. They lied and attempted to defraud a 92 year old woman. After threating to contact the local news, and take legal action by filing a small claims suite did Unique refund 1/2 the amount of the original invoice. The promised refund took over four weeks and Home Depot's managers had to get involved to make this happen. This whole disaster went on for four months. Unique Plumbing should be avoided unless you like to deal with heartless thieves.

we have used unique for many years but now that it is under new ownership lots has changed. a service contract is a BIG waste of money now. It wouldn't be if they actually did a THOROUGH job on the 2 visits in their yearly service plan, but that is not what is happening and the write up/report they give you is less than worthless. you might think they were doing a good job but if you don't know, how can you be sure? We didn't know what we didn't know. We have trusted them for years. this time we got a second opinion from another company before we agreed to have the repairs done. Why? they were out less than 3 weeks ago and did not detect a problem that should have been caught when they were out servicing the system. they did not change a filter that was clogged when it was pointed out to us and finally they did not check out our digital thermostat which had corroded batteries in it. the cost for replacing a thermostat is $300 +/-! This happened in another house we own and we never realized that these things have batteries in them. When these issues were pointed out to the technician after his repair call was completed as concerns he denied such a thing could ever happen and accused us of having a bad attitude! moving sales people into the field as technicians to sell contracts ought to be a known warning. lots of their good techs have moved to other more reputable firms in the area. they are now understaffed with less than qualified people.

Just remember whatever they quote you for an AC unit, and want to do it today oh, somebody can do it for half the price shop around! It's that simple

This company, is very unreliable. They don't keep their appointments. When I called to inquiry, I was put on hold to being hanged up on. SMH! unfortunately, since I moved here, in this part of the state, that is the kind of treatment i've been receiving form a lot of other companies.

Had these sixty nine dollars special for air conditioning check up. About all they do is put in an air filter and suck out your drain line and try to sell you expensive stuff. I put in a better filter than they do. Is practically worthless.

Zack came to my house to clean ducts and change a filter. Sold me some UV lights and a wifi thermostat. He installed everything perfectly. I really like Zake. Most companies could use a great guy like him. I recommend Unique Air if you are looking for great products and great service.

Good service for sure but you're certainly going to pay TOP dollar for it. Compared to other most area HVAC companies, they're 40% higher. Communication is key in any business, and theirs was fair at best. I couldn't get a call back on a warranty item and what was (or wasn't) covered. My almost 4 year old motor relay was apparently bad, so they decided to replace the entire motor. It's a modular system, so it was """"plug & play."""" My $700+ payment was quickly collected for a 20 minute service call. The technician compared his services to a DENTIST. Painful, but short. Well, show me your advanced degree and I haven't heard my dentist compare himself to an HVAC guy lately (or ever). They (Unique) took over for another regional HVAC company out of Ft Myers, FL that no longer services our area (that's another YELP story) for HOME DEPOT installations. The Rheem system was a HD TOP recommendation for reliability anyway. Go figure. When you're a small company, you're customer focused and seek to appease the client to grow your business. As they've grown to $30MM+ and have been acquired a couple of times, the new owners (understandably) seek an ROI. That said, they have become numbers focused and the techs are quota driven, while the customer satisfaction has sharply declined. This means, I'm a number to them and a means to reach THEIR goal, not mine. It's a shame. Yes, it's a business, but there's a tipping point on a customers ability to stomach being force fed huge and unreasonable service fees. I'd feel better about paying my dentist coming over to service the system anyway. He wasn't as pompass.

What a horrible experience. Thankfully I caught their gimmick before the technician got to my house and canceled the appointment. When I called to make an appointment they were very nice but repeatedly asked me if the people that make financial decisions in the house were going to be home at the time of the appointment, first sign of sales pressure, then the technician called and said that he was in Venice and that would be able to get to my house by 8:00 pm. Coincidentally the time that I told them that my husband would be home. Then he asked me again if the financial decisions makers would be available. The technician was rude and indicated that their prices are a lot higher that other companies due to their customer service. I felt that he was going to pressure us to buy their product no matter the price. Please don't fall for this company.

Had 4 different techs come to diagnose an issue with HVAC system. Since the property is a 2 story condo I was very clear with the dispatcher that an extra tall ladder would be necessary. (40' at least) Tech one came and diagnosed the problem as a bad blower motor however that tech didn't bother checking the breaker panel and didn't have a ladder for the roof. Tech two was a team of techs. The older tech was honest and told me """"I'm too old to be going up on tall ladders."""" The younger tech told me """"my ladder isn't tall enough."""" Remember... I've already detailed how big of a ladder they'd need... Tech 3 came after 6pm, checked all the internal systems and the breaker panel. Since the breaker was blowing he diagnosed the problem as being on the roof, possibly a capacitor or the contractor. Easy fixes once they get to the roof. He informed me that he didn't have a ladder but he'd be happy to quote me a new system for $15k. Tech 4 was a team that came the following day. They brought the tall ladder, set up the tall ladder, then told me that they didn't feel safe climbing a tall ladder so they called back to dispatch telling them that the property was """"unserviceable"""" then told me and quickly left. I phoned the dispatch and they offered no help but had a supervisor call me back to tell me the exact same information that tech 4 told me. The ladder was tall enough and when properly deployed would have been perfectly safe. Their techs are either ignorant of how tools work and job safety or they're too lazy to climb up a ladder. Either way Unique won't be getting $15k for a new system or whatever lesser charge for a repair system from me. Just be aware that the techs who come out can just bail on a whim and the company offers no recourse to the customer.

Bunch of cheats who prey on seniors. Told me that the A/C unit needed to be replaced (only 1 year old). I called two other competitors and both said it was just a small repair needed. These guys are very sweet talkers and charge $25/month to just come and change the a/c filter and nothing else. The 10% discount they give for repairs is a big scam. I'm sorry but I do not want anyone else to get ripped off by them. The same company previously overcharged me on a plumbing job. Avoid them if you can. See another negative review posted here, I totally agree!
