On October 11, 1889, 40 delegates from 23 Local Unions gathered in Washington, D.C. to establish the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters.
Plumbing and pipefitting groups from cities nationwide sought charters in this new union.
It took three years after the International Union's start for UA Local 100 to get its charter.
