I was referred to Troutwine Plumbing from another plumber who I really respect. I texted Mr. Troutwine and was scheduled to have my tankless water heater serviced. The guys who came out were super nice and seemed to know what they were doing. Unfortunately they did not know what they were doing and after over an hour assured me it was working properly. I asked about the igniter and they assured me that was not the problem. Within 24 hours the tankless water heater was exhibiting the same problem. I contacted a recommended plumber from the tankless hot water heater manufacturer and within 5 minutes they diagnosed a bad igniter and replaced it. Now the unit works great.
I contacted Mr. Troutwine and he apologized for the situation said he would talk to his guys and get back to me with a refund amount (his guys did a few other plumbing things in my house). I reached out after a week beyond when Mr. Troutwine said he would call me back ( no response) and then a another week later (again no response). While I do appreciate the attitude of Mr. Troutwine's team and professionalism if you say you are going to review the situation and offer a potential refund and do not return the texts or calls that is bad business and I would not recommend Troutwine Plumbing.

These guys are an awesome team!! I've been a loyal customer for over 25 years. Started out when one of the troutwine boys lost his day planner in W.H. and i returned it to him a few days later, he gave a $100 tip for my efforts and in return i've given him 25+ years of business with my home and rental properties in return! I've used them for pretty much everything, main line sewer, garbage disposals, sink trims, faucet installs, snakeing pipes, u name it!! They know what they're doing and i never have had them come back for a redo on any job. You have a plumbing issue at home, these are the guys to use, pure and simple.

I highly recommend Troutwine Plumbing. I have them out to my house a total of three times now for various repairs. I have always found them to be dependable, courteous and fair priced.

We recently moved into a new home that had a sewage line burst (!) and we called Troutwine based on a recommendation from a friend. They came out and did an emergency snake and then replaced the burst pipe in our front yard a week or so later.
They correctly diagnosed the issue, worked with the various departments (Electrical, Gas, etc.) that needed to sign off on the dig/work and then completed it in very timely and professional manner.
We also had them clear out our drain pipes just to be safe before the rainy season as well. That went very smoothly too.
They really delivered when we needed them, and their team came across as seasoned, knowledgeable guys. They were friendly and very easy to work with throughout the process too. I would definitely recommend them for whatever your plumbing needs.

Our go to plumbing service for all of our jobs. Show up on time, get the job done right the first time. Been using them for 17 years, Norman and his crew are excellent. Highly recommended.

Excellent service! I had a slab leak and did a reroute and you cannot tell anything had ever happened. They also were always punctual and got my repairs done quickly. I strongly recommend this company.

I am giving a huge Bark-out to the best Plummer around. I was so afraid after my Plummer of 30 years retired , but so many people in Malibu told me about Troutwine pluming. My grooming shop is crazy busy with so much hair flying around and going down the drains. This fast ,professional, and kind and funny great group of people are just a pleasure. The office is also like speaking to a neighbor. I just couldn't be any happier or relieved to have them for my shop . I wish my clients were as well behaved thank you again for your awesome service. PS please don't retire !

I had them out for a main sewer line replacement. While they had the front yard torn apart they noticed that the water main from the meter to house was PVC and poorly laid. So I had them replace it. While doing the work they would install a pressure regulator and a shut off for the sprinklers. Both were done, although they forgot to put the regulator in and came back the following day to do that. Now it comes time to turn on my sprinklers and there is a major leak, which they do come out and fix right away. The sprinkler shut off which they install is about 5 inches under the grass. Doesn't make sense that I have to tear up my grass to shut off the sprinklers. Another thing I noticed is when I try to turn off the sprinklers the valve will not turn because it hits the plastic surround they installed. All in all the owner seems very knowledgeable. His workers however need to go back to plumbing school. Seems to me very basic mistakes. I was always taught if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing right. Very disappointed with the workmanship.

I wanted to give them a great review after all the work they've done for us but the lack of communication is ridiculous. Following a huge job we paid a lot for, we've had multiple issues resulting in huge water bills; seams busting, pin hole leaks, etc, and yet they don't seem concerned enough to fix the problem. I've lost many plants/trees over it and they are still not finished nor care to even call. It's really sad :(

On Monday I called Troutwine Plumbing to report a shower leak. When Norm arrived he couldn't find a leak and said he would send a team the following day to break open the back wall of the shower to look for a leak. He followed this statement by saying But I don't think I'll find anything. I was very surprised by his doubt. I asked Norm why he was suggesting that strategy if he didn't think it would work. He shrugged. He then said he could call a leak detection service but he doubted they would find anything either. I was very confused by this point because I had water on my shower floor from an undetected source but the plumber seemed resigned that he would not find a leak. I asked again why he thought breaking open the wall would be a good idea. He said another option would be to remove the exterior shower fixtures to look into the shower pipes from the inside of the shower. That seemed much more reasonable to me but I still could not understand why he didn't suggest that option in the first place. Anyway, he said the team would arrive first thing on Tuesday morning.
Tuesday morning arrives. Troutwine calls and says they can't come that day but will arrive on Wednesday.
Tuesday night I dry the shower floor and place a few towels around the shower floor to try to locate the leak based on whether the towels were wet. Wednesday morning, I diagnosed the leak was coming from the on/off control valve.
Wednesday morning Troutwine called and says they can't come again.
Thursday, Troutwine arrives at 5:00. John and Tommy attempt to remove the exterior trim pieces to access the shower valve. They can not remove it. The reason they can't remove it is that it's stuck. I'm a bit shocked that they don't have a solution to how to remove the trim piece. They say they can't fix the leak unless they go through the back wall but they say they can't do that because it requires removing cabinetry and backsplash. Instead of working at removing the trim piece in a creative way, they decide that destroying a cabinet, backsplash and wall is the only solution to getting to the leak.
And that's it. They clean up and prepare to leave, but not before handing me a bill for $135.
I questioned what exactly I was paying for as my plumbing situation wass not fixed, nor did they even properly diagnose the issue and/or bid the repair. Mike said Norm required that he bills me for ""labor"". I paid the bill, but I wonder if Troutwine really feels that $135 was worth all my future business?
Final straw...as Mike is leaving he looks at me and says, ""Now you don't want to put that repair off too long otherwise you'll have a major problem."" What? I tried all week to have that repair done, with no help from Troutwine.
