I gained experience as an apprentice with a couple of plumbing firms in Marin County, CA. Later, I relocated to Toronto, Canada, with my wife and enrolled in George Brown College for technical training. At the same time, I was employed by a plumbing and mechanical contractor in downtown Toronto, studying under the esteemed plumber, Bernie Parkinson, the master of Manchester.

Outstanding service at a great price! Our water heater broke this morning and Ray came right out, figured out the problem, and installed a new one. When a problem seemed to emerge, he spent lots of time trying to figure it out, gave us suggestions, and then called later to checkin. Now, that's stellar service. It turned out the installation worked perfectly and we're back in business with lots of hot water. We highly recommend Ray- a great plumber and a really nice person.

Ray is the best. He has done extensive work on my old house's plumbing, including upgrades and rerouting to address a slab leak. I always call him first when anything comes up and he gives me advice and refers me to other professionals if he's too busy to come do the work himself. Honest man and excellent plumber.

I had Mr. Triola come out for a problem that a prior plumber after three attempts could not fix.
He returned my call promptly, came exactly when he said he would (no large windows) diagnosed it correctly in 2 minutes and fixed it.

When I mentioned a leak in my shower, he for no charge caulked one point and showed me where the remainder of the problem was structural.

Nothing but good things to say - reasonable rates and communicative.

Ray did great work for my kitchen remodel. He's an old style tradesman who knows what he's doing. Highly recommend.

Ray Triola is a rare breed: a plumber that actually cares and is onetime !! His prices are very reasonable and he offers options for big jobs (he said: ""Do you really want to pay me to dig that ditch or should i come back when your hired help has completed it ?"") We saved several hundred $ on one job. Ray responds quickly to emergencies (he was here the next day in the AM !) to fix our 1040 gal per day leak. Simply the best Plumber I've encountered.

At first he seemed great. So I had him do a big job replacing old pipes under the house. He started and then was gone for months. When he finally showed up and finished it, he was angry that I didn't have all of the money available right away, and yelled at me. (I paid him over half and then paid the rest within two weeks. I had set aside money for this repair. But when he was gone so long, I used it for something else. I was appalled that he would yell at me.) He also didn't finish all the work we had originally agreed on.

At that point, I had decided never to use him again. But I wouldn't have written a bad review. Today I found out that the cupboard under my sink is wrecked because there was a slow leak after he worked on the faucets there. It is going to be a major repair. What a disaster!

I sell real estate and had a listing where we had a leak. Open house was soon so i needed help asap. Called many plumbers who were booked out over a week! I found triola plumbing, who came out immediately to assess. So impressed w ray at triola. Nice guy , knows his stuff and polite and professional. He offered different options for me and kept me informed thru out. He really saved the day! I told him i was in a bind, tons of agents/buyers were coming in the morning. Ray switched out toilet, brought in new one and worked late to make it happen. He left at 11pm! What a guy! He is going to be my go-to plumber now!!

An update: Ray just completed the job of replacing our old plumbing. The job was extremely efficiently done and the results are spectacular. He's one of those professionals that, very simply, is top notch. One gets the impression that he is a plumber who really cares about doing the job right even if ""nobody is watching,"" and he is more capable than most of the plumbers of doing it. Very simply, you can trust him with the job.

WHEN YOU PAY FOR A PLUMBER, YOU SHOULD GET A PLUMBER!

Ever since some bright boys plastered their trucks with graphics and paid to be 'Certified', the price of plumbing work in North Oakland has gone through the roof. These graphic truck guys are strong on promotion, high on price and weak on plumbing. If you hire Ray, you actually get a plumber to look at your job, not an estimator in a white shirt. Ray has one employee who is, in my estimation, is a fully qualified plumber. Ray usually specs out the job and works on getting it underway, and checks on progress.

On a recent job, I had a bid for $3500, another for $2200 (using plastic) and Ray ended up billing me a total of around $2000. He did a lot more work than the two other bids by running copper waste line past the clog points, His sweat joints are perfect. You can eat off them.

One thing that may confuse Yelpers is that his business is located in Marin, but Ray works mostly in the Oakland-Berkeley area.

It was the week before Christmas and... OUR WATER MAIN SPRANG A BIG LEAK!!! We searched YELP for ""Leak Detectors"" and contacted 3 businesses. RAY TRIOLA PLUMBING was by far the most responsive! One company charged several hundred$$ just to evaluate and quote. The second charged a more nominal amount, but the plumber never returned our call to answer questions. Then we called Ray Triola. He was also well recommended by Berkeley Parent Network and Moran Plumbing. Ray fit us in to his schedule the very next day (no charge for diagnostic and estimate.) He carefully explained both on the phone and again in person how he would test the line by using an electronic ""divining rod"" with earphones that emits a noise which increases as the water leak flow increases. He showed me how to listen at several points along the line, and described his plan for replacing the line from the street meter into the house in the most economical way. Apparently the water line was original galvanized, vintage 1917, when the house was built. They worked steadily for three days, completing the project as night fell on Christmas Eve. Once the concrete was removed, Ray's diagnosis was spot on. He showed us the leak site and the disgusting corroded pipes. Now we have beautiful copper pipes! We recommend Ray without hesitation or reservation. He is a very experienced plumber, easy to communicate with and knows his stuff. We echo the positive reviews about Ray Triola Plumbing from Moran and BPN, and highly recommend him for your plumbing project -- planned or emergency!
