Recommended Customer Reviews

I don't like writing reviews like this, but after repeated attempts to get Matt (owner) out to our place to inspect an install of a water heater his tech performed in December, 2023, I believe this review shows the lack of respect of his customer. I should have researched other plumbers in Fountain Hills, but read a few reviews and thought they would be a good fit. But I had a leaking non-functioning WH and needed plumber now. Pricing was outrageous as well - $2600 for WH and a thermal expansion tank? Crazy pricing, and I was stuck without hot water and no telling when I would get another plumber to show. For that amount of money, it should be made of gold. The following occurred during the install:
His tech installed the WH and was making rookie mistakes, but those early mistakes were caught by Matt when he showed up half way through the install. The tech was using my old existing quick connects that I installed which are not to code. I installed one for a shut off ball valve to the old water heater. I heard Matt tell him ""What are you doing? You can't do that!"" He removed them and installed fixed piping. Matt left and then it got weird. His tech was reinstalling my recirculation pump and his wrench flew out of his hand and hit him in the mouth. He said he thought it chipped his tooth, but I was not in the garage to witness it, just heard the load crash of the wrench on the floor of the garage next to my car. Long story short, he came back to my old quick connect ball valve that was removed and asked me if I wanted it reinstalled to the drain of the WH. I told him it already had one, it comes on the WH. He said he wasn't thinking straight because of the pain and said he would have Matt inspect the work the next day. This guy was not exuding confidence. Matt didn't show the next day, and after repeated calls and conversations with Matt, it became obvious he wasn't going to show. I guess he got his money, he's done.
Last - reading through the Ruud WH manual I find out the thermal expansion tank was supposed to be installed on the cold water side of the WH. Googled this issue and all references I found said install on the cold water side. So once again I called and left message for Matt to call me, I wanted to ask about that issue. No response to date. SO now I don't know if this was installed correctly or if I'll have problems in future as a result. They didn't follow manufactures recommended install for thermal expansion tanks. My bet he's going to respond eventually saying it doesn't matter what side it's on, but it took this review to make that happen. $2600, and this is what you get. AVOID!

I called for an emergency leak repair, they were fast and got there quick.
They found the leak and said it was rubbing on top plate, called me 10
mins later and said no it's mice chewing through the pipe. I agreed to a copper repair in place of the PEX pipe so that I wouldnt have mice chew through again.
While I was talking with the owner Matt about repairs his tech jumped the gun and just replaced with PEX. I also agreed to him repairing a gate valve that I found out later wasn't really necessary just an add on to get some more out of us. I agreed to it.
The owner then tells me I have to pay for the PEX bandaid and the gate valve and if I wanted copper it would be a new job and new cost.
I said I do not need to pay for your tech repairing something differently than you and I agreed to.
He did settle with me just sending an invoice for the gate valve, i was willing to be fair and reasonable the whole time. I was just not willing to pay for his techs mistake. That is not my responsibility. When he did finally send an estimate for the copper repair it was outrageous.
I paid him for the gate valve and said if you wanted to you're more then welcome to come rip out the PEX bandaid your company did.
I would suggest getting written estimates and bids well in advance before authorizing any work with them. Do your homework as far his cost.

AVOID. Outrageous price gouging by this company. If you have a pressing emergency they will take full advantage by overcharging you. I have personal experience. Needed 4 toilet fill valves replaced...they charged me over $750.
Parts were less than $150... labor was about 90 minutes. $600 for 90 minutes...($400 per hour). I rest my case. They tried to charge me $1200 for installing shower valves with a cost of $300...labor was 1 hour. I did it myself instead. Lots of 1 STAR REVIEWS!

Lost water pressure and called Travis & Sons...they were out within the hour! They were professional and efficient...solved the problem! Great company!

5 Stars to Travis and Sons Plumbing! Last week our sewer line backed up late one evening and we were imaging all kinds of costly and invasive repairs. But that didn't happen! One early morning call to Travis and Sons and the problem was on its way to being solved. A plumber arrived in a few hours and had the problem fixed in about 15 minutes! He was a great guy and definitely the hero of the day! Thanks Travis and Sons!!

2 hose bibs and a clogged sink. 1hr of work.
Cost.... $927!!!!
Go somewhere else. Ace hardware handyman service will do the same simple job for $295!
Lesson learned

We have had Louis come different times for different project and he is always prompt and very knowledgeable.

TOTAL RIP-OFF! I called these local folks because I had a leak in the downstairs bathroom. The ""plumber"" who showed up, looked around and told me this was not something he could fix. (It had to do with a sump pump). He was here less than 30 minutes and charged me $245!!

We had a hairline leak in a drain pipe from our upstairs bathroom. We opened up the wall and determined we needed a plumber. We called a Travis and Sons. They said they could come out originally on Thursday. They showed up unexpectedly a day early. We were told they needed a special tool to fix the problem. They came again the next day(Thursday) and said they needed still another tool. Friday they came out, spent about 2 hours fixing the pipe, charged us $635.00 and gave us no guarantee in case it leaked after we turned the water back on. We will never use them again. Very disappointed.

These people are the best.
Robert and Matt were excellent and knowledgeable.
They did an excellent job at a good price and were fast to finish a very complicated job.
Would use them again.
