Tragar started by John Traina in 1952. Recognizing the increasing need for heating oil delivery in the newly developed Levittown, John set out to build his very own enterprise. Even with the early challenge of his partner Gary Garrison, John's resolve laid the groundwork for a multi-generational business. In 1962, Tragar set up shop in the Wantagh area and formed partnerships with leading oil suppliers like Gulf Oil Company. Under the leadership of, the firm navigated difficulties such as the oil crisis of 1973 with resilience. As we transitioned into the digital age, Tragar broadened its capabilities to encompass heating and air conditioning services and implemented sustainable practices, like the use of soybean-based heating oil. This is probably the worst customer service company I have ever experienced in my life. I had them install a new boiler in my house. The only thing good thing I can say is that the salesman was fantastic was very knowledgeable and helpful. In addition he has good support/secreterial staff to help him. After that, I can say it was nothing but a nightmare. The installation that took place was horrible. They completely screwed up the timing of the installation and I was without heat or hot water for 2 days because I needed to wait for an inspection. After the install was completed I ended up having a gas leak in my house. Then I called to report the problem to the company and all I did was get yelled at by their ""customer service manager"" because I was told I shouldnt have scheduled things for what was convenient for me and shouldve scheduled so that it what was convenient for the company. He became completely obnoxious and angered on the phone to the point where I had to hang up because he wouldnt even let me talk. If my review was solely based on him I wouldve given this company a negative score if possible. Unless youre looking to waste your days off from work for other peoples mistakes and receive horrible customer service and possibly die from a gas leak. Avoid this company like the plague.

A few years ago I had to call for emergency service for no heat. They were great and I said I would call again if needed. I decided to use them for a winter tune up. Our boiler has never been the same. I had to call somebody back after that because issues began and they charged me an arm and a leg. It may have something to do with me not accepting a contract for purchasing oil at $3.39.?? idk, but look how cheap oil has been. Thank God I didn't. Anyway they charged me $300 for a $10 part that took 5 minutes to install. Frankly I don't trust them anymore and my boiler is acting up again and it's only a few years old.

I signed four separate contracts with Trager at $2.299 fixed rate a gallon. I got an oil delivery during the summer and they only gave me 100 gallons per house. They gave me another oil delivery in September and again 100 gallons only. I called them and asked why there not filling my tanks up and I was told that they don't have oil to give me at that price. Now my question is if you sign a contract with an oil company for a year shouldn't they fill your oil tank up even if the oil prices go up?

The first service I requested wasn't quite fulfilling. Someone from Tragar took my information and I guess she created a ticket. Received a call in 5 mins which was great but the technician told me to call back the next day. huh?? I just called and you called me back!!! what do you mean call back tomorrow?? :) And he didn't really say anything about when he might be coming. I have a service contract with them that should cover pretty much anything but it was quite frustrating that they didn't really address my concerns. Now, I'm not confident that they can service me when I actually need them.

Never again. Last February techs came and installed an aquastat and pressure relief valve. This January, an aquastat well was leaking water. So I call Tragar, where firstly they inquired whether i'm a regular customer. I had to call 3 times and each time explain my situation from beginning to end before getting through to the service department where finally they tell me that parts they installed only warranty for 90 days as opposed to a year like other companies do. Never mind the fact that the part they installed is faulty they were still going to charge me 290 for coming out and then once they figure out what the problem is that it will be extra. Avoid at all costs!
