Tragar Home Services was founded by our founder John Traina. Recognizing the rising necessity for heating oil delivery in the newly developed Levittown, he initiated to create his very own company. Despite the early challenge of losing Gary Garrison, John's determination laid the groundwork for a long-lasting company. In 1962, Tragar set up shop in Wantagh and formed alliances with major oil wholesalers like Gulf Oil Company. Guided by Dennis Senior, the company navigated obstacles such as the 1973 oil embargo with strength. As we moved forward into the modern era, Tragar broadened its capabilities to add HVAC installations and adopted eco-friendly practices, including the use of soybean blended heating oil. Currently, with Dennis Jr. at the helm, Tragar Home Services continues its tradition of innovation, focus on customer satisfaction, and dedication to high standards, demonstrating the spirit of a genuine family-run company that stands the test of time.

I came to visit at my Mom's house and it was 44 degrees inside. I called for emergency service. Carlos Ordonez came in the beginning of the stated service window. He quickly found the problem and fixed it. He also made a recommendation for additional service that is needed to prevent bigger issues but that could wait until a more convenient time. Carlos was pleasant, efficient and definitely demonstrated expertise at his craft. He made sure everything was in good working order before he left.
Everyone in this company is friendly and helpful. I am happy that my parents have been working with them for so many years.

Recently had a ductless system put in, they offered the best price and warranty of the three Companies I called so I opted with them. However, salesman was pretty useless and offered not much insight and when I decided on a Lennox system he informed me they were in back order so I had to go for Fujitsu.
The installation guys were as friendly as a rock, and as informal as one too, but they did a very clean install. When I finally got my paperwork in I was given a warranty that was less years than originally quoted, so after calling and being told I would get a call back, which I never received, I called again and again same issue, third times a charm right? Finally got a manager on the phone, with his condescending attitude, who claimed the salesman made a mistake but they will honor it and they give the best warranty around, which is crap because like I mentioned before, this wasn't my first company to call. Long story short, shit customer service which doesn't speak for long term issues but clean work and decent price. I'd say shop around before settling which them.

After having several issues with our system leaking, and having to complain and have people come out without fixing it. The third time was a charm and it stopped leaking. We ended up using them for our boiler as well and honestly the service has been very good. We had a leak one time and they came and fixed it within several hours, another time we had smoke coming from our chimney and they vacuumed out our chimney, with all being free thanks to having a service plan. So technically not free but I like to pretend it is.

Never again. Took a contract when it was finished company held my $411.00 over payment. Had to use it for new contract. Note my payments were $215.00. This year they charged me for owing 1month. Not late but the balance didn't coincide with payments which of course caught up the following month. This company is a rip off when it comes to contracts.

DON'T LET THEM IN YOUR HOME OR SIGN ANYTHING.

Tragar is slick con game and one to avoid. They stole over $2,400 from our checking account just last week for a water heater that's working and not installed properly. The day we called to complain is the same day they took out the money which is not legally theirs if the job is not competed in full.

Steve is more concerned about the oil than providing the proper installation they have not corrected, they say they didn't know about it they were called more than 3 times by me.

Steve also told me that I had to send in a letter writing to get out of the oil contract.

I still DID NOT send anything to them and they cancelled the contract and now they are doing us a favor by waiving the $750.00 contract cancellation fee as per Dennis Traina, Jr. Big deal you take out $2,400 and you think you're even....not at all!

If you did the job the first time correctly you would be in this situation.

This is probably the worst customer service company I have ever experienced in my life. I had them install a new boiler in my house. The only thing good thing I can say is that the salesman was fantastic was very knowledgeable and helpful. In addition he has good support/secreterial staff to help him. After that, I can say it was nothing but a nightmare. The installation that took place was horrible. They completely screwed up the timing of the installation and I was without heat or hot water for 2 days because I needed to wait for an inspection. After the install was completed I ended up having a gas leak in my house. Then I called to report the problem to the company and all I did was get yelled at by their ""customer service manager"" because I was told I shouldnt have scheduled things for what was convenient for me and shouldve scheduled so that it what was convenient for the company. He became completely obnoxious and angered on the phone to the point where I had to hang up because he wouldnt even let me talk. If my review was solely based on him I wouldve given this company a negative score if possible. Unless youre looking to waste your days off from work for other peoples mistakes and receive horrible customer service and possibly die from a gas leak. Avoid this company like the plague.

A few years ago I had to call for emergency service for no heat. They were great and I said I would call again if needed. I decided to use them for a winter tune up. Our boiler has never been the same. I had to call somebody back after that because issues began and they charged me an arm and a leg. It may have something to do with me not accepting a contract for purchasing oil at $3.39.?? idk, but look how cheap oil has been. Thank God I didn't. Anyway they charged me $300 for a $10 part that took 5 minutes to install. Frankly I don't trust them anymore and my boiler is acting up again and it's only a few years old.
