These guys are the absolute worst!!! I used to use them, and every time I called for a technician I would wait 45 minutes - 1 hour just to get a returned call, and several more hours for their crappy service. The saddest part of the story is that I'm local. I live 5 minutes from their offices!!!!!!!!
Dominick T.If I could give zero stars, I would. The technicians are not experienced or purposely don't know what they are doing. I wouldn't hire these guys to cut my lawn - let alone do anymore work in my house. I seriously think they mess things up worse just to get you to buy new services and products. Please do not let this company service your home or spend any of your hard earned money on this company. They will be out of business soon. STAY AWAY!!!!! TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE.
Dre came by our house. He absolutely knew what he was doing. He taught me a few things and quickly fixed what needed fixing. I will definitely go to Top Tec when I need them next...I will also see if I can get Dre to be the guy who comes by.
Horrible!!! These guys are full of you know what. They will b.s you so much it's ridiculous! Came in and they argue who gets the customer in front of you no hello nothing. Basically yeah what you need..... um no that's not how you approach a customer. This place is really bad people don't go here your better of elsewhere.
Consider alternative companies. Technician came to do maintenance check on air conditioner and left the old wire that he replaced and packaging on ground outside. Not a huge deal but sloppy. Worst part was he left the fuses out of the air conditioner when he left. I would at least expect him to put the unit back together the way it was when he got here. I was going to have them replace both central units that I have, however would not trust the quality of the work after seeing they way they perform their maintenance service.
I had a headache of a time dealing with this company and I have tried to put them out of my mind. However, I just got a LinkedIn request today from the owner, Joe, which reminded me of them. Anyway, as one of their consumers, it's probably responsible that I write a review just to let others know my experience.
Btw, we had a new HVAC put in along with vents in our attic because water would seep into our floor ducts during heavy rain.
Anyway, sigh... where should I begin?
1) The overall cost of the work included the cost of a permit ($200) which they said they applied for. However, when the work was done, we asked them for the permit number so the Village inspector could come and look at the work. We told them we would only pay in full after they passed the inspection. They then applied for an express permit which we later found out was applied for after the work was done.
2) When the Village inspector came to look at the work, he told us the permit they applied for only covered the installation of the external a/c unit and did not include the work that they did with the whole ventilation system. He had no choice but to fail the inspection.
3) When we told Joe about it, he started yelling at my husband and asking, ""What did you tell them?"" and "" Why did you talk to them?"" and ""You need to watch what you say to them""
4) When they finally applied for the correct permit, the Village sent a tester to come and test out the system for the amount of leakage - they failed the test.
5) Joe then insisted that it was impossible because his guys do immaculate work and the tester doesn't know what he's doing so he sent his own tester and then they miraculously ""passed.""
6) We didn't trust the whole situation so we asked the first tester to come back again (he was kind enough to come and do it for free because he was sympathetic to our situation). He again showed us the numbers which were consistent with the first time he tested the system.
7) Anyway, Toptec was unhappy and said they were going to charge us an additional $200 for the permit which made no sense because we were paying for the permit already and it was something they should have had before the work started. They then said they were charging us a penalty because we didn't pay the full amount as soon as the work was done and that they were losing money on us. I reminded them that I was the one who was losing money because I had to take off work while they came in to install the system. And I had to take off hours just so I could let the testers come in.
8) Another thing that annoyed me is they they put their labels on all our stuff including the water heater and pipes which they had nothing to do with installing.
Anyway, once they passed, we paid them in full and were glad to get the whole thing over and done. The positive is that at least we have a nice new system that works well but it wasn't without the hassle... so no, I don't recommend them.
Bre G.We had the TopTec electricians here to replace all the old knob & tube in our home. It was a large job and they were here quite a few days. I had two small children at home with me and Tracey & Andre were amazingly courteous, never cursed once, made sure my boys were safe and I was informed of what was going on, and were so nice. They tried to do as little wall damage as possible, cleaned up and put stuff back in its place each day, and were so thorough to ensure our home was safe. I can't say enough good things, they even noticed an issue with a plumbing pipe and their team came out to repair it! This is our 3rd time working with TopTec, they also keep our old home's boiler working great, and I'm sure we'll be using them again!
Jordan at Top Tec was absolutely great during the entire process during a project to fix water damage from a leak in our kitchen and upstairs bathroom.
At his recommendation, we called Chicago W+F to help with the damage and finish reconstruction and it was a wonderful recommendation. Jordan identified the leak, assisted Chicago W+F with any questions they had, and was very helpful to me personally during the entire stressful time.
On a second visit, Jordan fixed the leak, identified the actual issue and provided guidance on how to proceed. We are very happy with Top Tec and with Jordan and would absolutely recommend their service to anyone in need of plumbing. We'll definitely be calling any time another issue pops up. Thanks again Jordan!
I was heading for out of the country Christmas vacation and asked my long term tenant to please call them (Mother with 10 year old child). I got their contact from a friend who lives in the area. They charged my tenanct $674 to replace universal gas valve. Part is $180 (probably about $150 for them) and they charged 5 hour labor, not because this is some very difficult work but because technician could not diagnose the problem, than did not have a part. Instead of returning back with the part he decided to stay there and wait for his manager to arrive. Than manager replace the part. I know that new heater is about $550 and here I am paying $674 for a part and somebody's on the job training.
When I called to ask for discount owner would not budge. I called three times to identify the part and they never had the story straight.
My deal with them was that I will pay the full price and post this worming to others. They used cold weather and inexperienced mother to increase the price.
Shailesh I.I was very satisfied with the quality of service, Dre was on time, the knowledge he had about the HVAC system and was very kind to offer good advise. He was very polite in informing me that the system is in good condition and he completed his cleaning procedure well on time. He thanked me for the opportunity to service my home.
