I have been a customer for the last five years. They've been ok ... until they weren't. Their tech was supposed to come yesterday and was a no show during the stated window. They found someone to 'help' me and her customer service was deplorable. She hung up on me and gaslighted me like it was my fault for her people not showing up during their dedicated window. And she wouldn't let me talk. So just please be careful when considering this company.

Had our furnace service d by Michael M - he was an awesome technician. He was so thorough, explained everything and went above and beyond the service resolution. His expertise puts TopTec in a most favorable light and I would recommend them without any hesitation.

Unfortunately TopTec has proven to be nothing but a company of scam artists. I've been trying to get my A/C issue resolved for the past 5 years! Each time the rotating technician finds a different problem with my A/C. First time I need a new coil, second time I needed new wiring, third time I needed to do a HVAC overhaul and add return air vents, 4th time I now needed to replace my existing A/C unit which was brand new when I moved in a year before, but all of a sudden I need an entire new condenser! Each visit is a new technician, from the revolving door of techs that go through this place. Not once have I had the same tech come, and the new one had no idea what the last one did. I went down the same rabbit hole of an endless and continuous game of having to ""fix one more thing and it will work"" but unfortunately it never does. I've paid over $15K in A/C repairs and STILL don't have a functioning A/C unit! Don't bother calling in either, because once Maria the ""Office Manager"" gets on the phone, you'll regret ever calling. She is the most rude, nasty and condescending person I've ever dealt with, and she's supposed to be the ""Customer Service"" help?! Yikes! Through all of the thousands of dollars I've spent, hours on the phone, and countless visits, nothing is ever resolved with TopTec. Just an endless loophole to continue to scam you out of money until you surrender or move on. Which I have, just call literally any other company and they will be much cheaper (TopTec charges 3x its competitors for no reason), and actually fix your issue, unlike TopToec. There's no possible way any of these 5-Star reviews are from actual customers, just family and friends of the company trying to pad their reviews, trust me when I say RUN AWAY FROM TOPTEC!

Called TOP TEC last night. Should have checked online for ratings first. I was told there was 139$ charge since it was after 4 PM. I agreed to that charge. Zac came out since seal was broken on toilet. When he arrived he announced that the charge would be 895$. I told him that was too much. He came back with price of 495$. I agreed to that price. At 8:53 PM Zac says the toilet isn't functional any more. He claims that he needs to rout the toilet and the price would be 1028$. The choice is I cannot go to the bathroom all night or I have to pay 1028$? I agree because I only have one toilet. When it comes time to pay, I am charged 1074$ and not the 1028$ as agreed. Think they are scam artists. So it took over 2 hrs. Forbes says the price should be 400$ to seal toilet.

We had TopTec come out last year and install a new breaker box and some 240v outlets in our garage for charging (potential) electric vehicles. They showed up and did the work and we were happy with how things went, although couldn't really test the outlets as we didn't have anything to plug into them.

Fast forward to June of this year and we got our first plug in hybrid vehicle. One of the plugs in the garage didn't work, so we called TopTec back out to take a look. As it turned out, they didn't ground either of the new outlets properly and it all had to be rewired. The young man who came out even confirmed that they weren't installed properly on the paperwork. This garage work cost us $6K, so it was no small project, and I'm a little shocked they would charge us to fix something that they did wrong. Honestly, I'm now questioning if they cut corners on other parts of the install.

They charged us $175 to come out and fix something that was improperly installed, albeit a year later. I didn't think that was fair, so called into their offices to talk to a manager, but never received a call back. I wanted to talk to them and come to a resolution before writing this review.

Won't use this particular vendor again.

I am torn writing this review. I have never took the time to write a negative review. I worked in the service industry for 2 decades- i get how people have bad days, or make mistakes, etc... After my experience this week and reading these Yelp reviews, I felt like I needed to add my experience.

I had such high hopes for Top Tec- my neighbor as well as my best friend's parents use Top Tec. I trust these people's choices. Top Tec did NOT meet even my most standard of standards. Honestly, I feel a little ""taken"".

I called for a leaky pipe. They came out the next day. The tech did fix the leaky pipe. So that's good. It was pricey but I was ok with that because I felt like the world has changed- supply chain issues, labor shortages, etc.

Before he left, he boppsed around my home checking out all the things. He emphatically said my toilet needed replacing, immediately. Told me to purchase the toilet from Home Depot and he would install for $575. Again, seemed high- chalked it up to all the things mentioned above. He took a look at my hot water heater, furnace, and AC unit. He indicated with some alarm ""that doesn't look good"", ""you need to look into replacing all three"", ""if this was my house..."", ""the furnace shouldn't vent in the chimney"". I was in a tizzy thinking all my stuff was on the brink of collapse. He leaves. I receive no written invoice.

I purchased a toilet that day and called the office to schedule the install. Maria, very kind, very patient, relatable and helpful, scheduled me for the following week on a Wednesday. I requested the plumber who had done the work on the pipe. I also set up a ""clean and check"" for my furnace and AC- as I was concerned they were going kaput. She sets me up with today, Wednesday 6.21.2023.

So- here's the bad stuff:

A plumber showed up a day early, yesterday. not the guy I requested/scheduled. I chatted via my Ring doorbell since I wasn't even home to accept the unscheduled install. Then today, the office called an hour before the original scheduled appointment to say ""the plumber had an emergency and we need to reschedule"". One hour before?! Ok. Things happen. Fine. Rescheduled for next Tuesday.

In the meantime, the HVAC guy does show up. He performs his ""clean and check"" on my 11 year old furnace. He ""condemns"" my furnace. Says the heat exchanger is cracked and it's leaking carbon monoxide. He disconnects my furnace because he's required to by law. Then quotes me for a new furnace- $8000. He also says my AC is is from 2005 and is gonna crap out anytime. He suggests I do both. I know my AC is from 2014 and I confront him. He backpeddles and says he was reading the numbers wrong. Ok. He leaves. I receive no written invoice.

I call up Allied for a second opinion. He takes a look at everything. He tests for everything. Everything is working. Nothing is leaking. Furnace will be in working order for another 10 years barring it's a lemon.

Called around to get quotes for a customer supplied toilet install- $200 flat rate. I called Top Tec to cancel my toilet install. Top Tec didn't even ask why. You're losing a $600 job. How do you not ask?

My take: They saw a single female. They saw dollar signs. Shame on them.

And yeah- it's weird that there are many bad Yelp reviews but their Google reviews are 4.8/5 stars for 1000+ of them. Something not adding up there.

Ps. I made them order a permit to ensure the did the job correctly and of course they did not and had to come back for that.

Used them for a toilet back up (after hours call) they cleared out three lines at 895$/each and then did the old need to remove the toilet trick for 195$. $2880 total. They left saying I'm all good... two days later same back up. 895$ to clear out lines and 195$ toilet AGAIN. I spent total of $3500... wasted away because of SHADY or inept techs. Then they tell me I MAY have a collapsed line. This was after the tech told me that we clogged the lines again...
I called another plumber the next day. HE OPENED my access point AND SAID YES YOU HAVE A COLLAPSED LINE I can SEE this without any microscope because you CAN see the CLAY and rocks from that POINT. Top Tech got me don't let them get you.

Chris came out to fix our outdoor spigot. He arrived on time and gave me information on what could've caused it. Then he gave me choices and then fixed the problem at a very reasonable price. Very nice guy and also very knowledgeable. 100% would recommend to others.

We've used Top Tec for all kinds of things and they always do a great job. Today it was a clogged tub drain, and Mostapha and Julio were awesome! On time, super friendly, and gave me some good maintenance tips. And now the kids can use their shower again!
