Evangelos K.I'm very happy with the service I received. First, they offer early morning service and were extremely punctual. My appointment was at 6am, and promptly at 6am, there was a knock at my door. Next, not many companies seemed familiar with Geospring hot water heaters, but my guy seemed to have worked with them before. He quickly diagnosed it and showed me what was wrong with it. Then, they came in under the quoted price. They gave me an original estimate, and because he completed service faster than expected, I was charged accordingly. Even before they came out, communication was great. I prefer email and text, and received fairly quick responses. I plan on using them for my next job.
Gerry M.We have used Tim Whistler plumbing several times. Our water heater burst in October while my wife was at home and I was away on business and he had someone there very quickly. They replaced the water heater same day and another technician (my HVAC guy) later remarked that the piping to the new unit was a ""work of art"". That is...the plumber Ben used the most current/proper approach (something about crimping and not using a blow torch).
In January we used Tim Whistler plumbing to connect my gas line to my new gas stove (we chucked the old electric one) . He also connected the gas line to a basement gas fireplace that he also installed. Job was done on time and I know the fireplace gas line was difficult to implement b/c the fireplace is below grade. Maria who schedules the jobs/answers the phone is great. Ben as I mentioned is at the top of his art, and Tim himself is very responsive. We are extremely happy with their work.
G W.I cannot thank Tim Whistler Plumbing enough and Rob Wagner for coming to the rescue! I had a clogged kitchen sink. Rob took care of it along under an hour. Another issue with the outside valve was discovered and Rob was able to assess & replace on the spot! I will call them back to replace the water valve in the back of the house this spring! I am grateful & thankful I checked Yelp out! It's hard to find businesses like this and is a true gem.
Taylor L.Updating my review.
Tim, the owner, reached out to me and provided a full refund, which was very unexpected since most companies would just apologize at most. I'm giving Tim Whistler a five star for a pleasant, unusual gesture.
A $225 charge and the technician still wasn't able to find the source of the leak. He told me that it's most likely from a basement drain backup so keep an eye on the drain. The leak still occurs even without a backup in the drain. I understand that sometimes it's difficult to find the source of a problem but $225 is steep for not having your problem solved or even know where the problem is.
Had an unpleasant experience with the business on the day the plumber was scheduled to come out.
We got quotes from the company for snaking a clogged kitchen sink. I specifically asked if the price of 225 to 250 was all inclusive. Sometimes plumbers charge random fees to jack up the price of the job so I wanted to make sure $250 was the maximum as long as all I need is fixing the clogged sink. Maria told me over written message yes as long as it is just snaking a sink then that is the full price. If it was a different job when the plumber arrived price would be different. I thought communication via yelp message was clear and easy.
Then the plumber arrived at scheduled time. And before ever touching our sink, (he only looked at it and heard our description of the clogged kitchen sink),he tried to charge $250 an hour and then extra thereon. When I told him the quote I got, he said he needs to talk to the person who quoted me. Then he went to get his equipment supposedly.
Then Maria called us and said I'm sorry it's going to cost $350. And the tone was basically take it or leave it. I was shocked because I was upfront with the problem and asking that there wouldn't be added cost. The job was not different and eventually we got an answer that the $100 extra was because we live in a condo and the guy has to walk back and forth a bit more... walking around costs $100 dollars???? It felt like price gouging especially when we had an agreement. They tried to say they didn't realize it was a building when we asked for the quote but we gave them the full address with apartment number in advance to come out and they didn't tell us a different price at that point? And if it is something that matters that much to them, they should know to ask beforehand!
We wouldn't have scheduled them if they said $350 in the first place. Plus the change on their part was just unpleasant. Ended up telling them no thanks but it was such an unnecessary waste of time and energy for both parties.
Top to bottom, I found Tim Whistler Plumbing to be total pros. Their response time was amazing, considering what a busy time It was. They were there, on the job the very next day and even arrived 5 minutes early! Clear estimate, fair pricing, clean and very kind. What more could a homeowner ask? I will definitely call them agin!
I contacted Tim Whistler for a second opinion after another plumber provided an estimate that made me uncomfortable. Our old house still had a cast iron toilet flange, and the other plumber wanted to put in a PVC flange for an outrageous price and told me he ""wasn't sure it would last a week or several years."" Maria had me email photos, and within hours Tim provided an estimate via email to replace the flange with a new cast iron piece that would unquestionably last for many years to come. He was also willing to guarantee the work.
Frank came out to do the job. He was on time to the minute and completed the job for the estimated price. I've since had him back to replace our worn out 76-year-old main water line shut-off and a portion of corroded pipe. He completed the work for under the estimated cost.
For both jobs, Frank was diligent and down to earth. I consider myself fluent in basic household plumbing (I can replace a toilet, hook up a sink, and that sort of thing), and bounced a question about an unrelated valve issue off of him. He answered honestly and without any condescension, which I appreciated as a younger homeowner.
Plumbing work is never cheap, but I'm relieved to have found a plumber I can trust, especially for my older home.
I had a very smooth experience with Tim Whistler Plumbing. It was straightforward to make an appointment online and while they were a bit late from the scheduled time, the office was quick to let me know when I inquired. The guys that came (led by Ben R.) were very polite, knowledgeable and friendly, and walked me through what they saw as the issue at a depth that I was looking for. The provided estimate was prompt and detailed, and they followed up on my questions promptly, and with more detail. Ultimately I decided to do some of the work myself and not stress about another issue, but all of my experience with Tim Whistler Plumbing was very positive.
A neighbor recommended Whistler Plumbing and Gas Fitting and we've been very happy with their services. They have done a couple of major jobs for us. One involved correcting a pipe that had been installed into the house at an angle, leading it to leak. The other involved replacing an HVAC system that we'd already spent thousands trying to fix. Literally like six different companies came out multiple times. They all said it was a mess, but that they could fix it. They all charged us but the problem was never fixed. Frank took one look at it and told us we needed a new system, rather than encouraging us to throw good money after bad.
The last time they came we couldn't be home until later. I trust them enough that I left a key out for them, which is not something I would normally do.
Not only did Tim substantially overcharge us for minimal plumbing work, but he actually broke our shower. When we called to ask Tim when he intended to come by and fix the shower that HE broke, he hung up on us! Plumbers are expensive and you want someone that you can trust to stand behind their service when things go wrong. Tim is not that guy.
