The water heater at our rental unit failed over the weekend and we began the search for replacement. Our unit is unique in that it also provides power for the heater in addition to hot water. The configuration and space of set up are also unique. We had to use a particular type of water heater. Therefore, we weren't comfortable changing ourselves. To make the matter worse, we were also offsite. Our tenant had to be present and help coordinate site visits and confirm quotes.

We took four different bids on the job through search on Yelp. Sal was very responsive, professional, and kind. He was very knowledgeable and understood the configuration of our water heater. He was the most impressive and competent professional among the contractors that came out for quotes.

Sal was sensitive and empathetic to our situation and our need to provide hot water and heat to our tenant asap. One day after the estimate, Sal secured the low stock water heater and Edgar came out to perform the replacement with his colleague Octavio.

They did an awesome job and provided comfort during a stressful situation. I would recommend anyone looking for service to consider receiving a bid from Sal. You won't regret it.

Hands down the best plumbers we've worked with in the East Bay. Creative, responsive, respectful and so easy to work with. We had a sewer line collapse under a concrete deck and Sal and his team were the only ones to come up with a solution--not only to solve it, but also to make it even better without trenching our entire yard. The pipe draining my kitchen sink was blocked. I tried to clear it using my snake, pushing a hose pipe down the drain to blast it clear....Enter Thumbs Up Rooter and Plumbing. They were able to get a plumber (Eddie) on site within an hour.

Eddie was fantastic. I was on a work call so I gave him a quick overview of the problem and left him to it. He ended up having to disassemble my sink's drain and bring in a 75ft snake. The 75 feet made sure he cleaned out the kitchen pipe all the way to the 4 inch sewage connector.

Eddie also shared advice. I live in a 95 year old house. Don't put coffee grounds or acidic foods down the slink. They will corrode the pipes and cause more blockages. Then Eddie will have to come back...

Eddie resembled the plumbing, checked for leaks, made sure he cleaned up the cupboard under the sink and left everything as if he had never been here. Except my drain now works great.

My new homeowners insurance required me to install an automatic water shut off system ASAP. Sal, the owner, is incredibly responsive and came out to do it himself due to the tight turn around I needed. Very professional and a job well done, will be using them in the future with any other plumbing needs!

Great communication, quality work (inspector approved!) and reasonable prices.

I was renovating a 80+ year old house, and needed entire house repiping and water heater replacement. I met a handful of plumbers but it was a challenge to find a good one. Some would take weeks to come back with a quote and others would not explain the scope of the work.

Sal was fast to respond, super easy to communicate with. When he came over, he thoroughly examined the crawl space, promptly provided a quote and finished the job within the estimation.

Edgar is super friendly, kind and thoughtful. I didn't love the initial laundry location because it is in the middle of the walk way, but it seemed like the only choice. Edgar understood my concern and the next day, came back with a creative idea that allowed us to move laundry location to a perfect spot.

I will come back for next projects!

Great experience working with Eddie! We were able to schedule a next day appointment to fix a clog in our main sewer line. He had all the right tools for the job (snake, pipe camera, and hydro jetter) and had it fixed quickly!

I think Thumbs Up might just be the dream team when it comes to plumbing.

I've been in my house for only 3 weeks, and in that time, I needed to get some plumbing work done (seismic gas shutoff valve install, exterior faucet leak fix, adjustment to the connector that runs gas to my clothes dryer, and flushing out lines to help alleviate any low water pressure).

Sal was super quick to respond to my initial inquiry, and he was able to schedule me in for things more urgent than others (during the holiday season!!). Eddie and Edgar separately came out to tackle the actual jobs, and they were great!

Thumbs Up will definitely be on my ""go to"" list for plumbing. Extremely reliable, super thorough, and provides fair pricing.
