My drain pipe behind my washer got clogged and all I needed was it to be snaked. I called Thrifty R and the rep. seemed unsure but the quote was basically $90. Instead of scheduling an appt., I called Roto Rooter & Rescue Rooter trying to find a better deal. First, Roto Rooter had an online offer but the rep who showed up briefly looked around and said it was $240 without even observing the extent of the clogging. He said the online special won't apply but never explained what it is that I needed. Next Rescue Rooter came and the rep went on and on about how his snake won't fit my drain pipe and that changing the ""P-trap"" was $795. The rep also quoted $190 for an unspecified job but would not honor the $50 coupon. Rescue Rooter stuck his snake in my drain and caused for water to flow out. The rep. lectured me about calling other plumbers who are on commission and they would try to scam me into something I don't need which is exactly what he was doing!! Finally Thrifty Rooter came with the snake, quickly fixed the prob and charged me the $90. obviously the snake went in with absolutely no problem!! Stay away from the other two if you don't have time for BS. I have never written a review on YELP but felt compelled to relay my experience.

Our property management company has been working with Susie from Thrifty Rooters for many years. They were always friendly and quickly to respond. Their service personal since its a family business compared to the big franchise plumbing companies.

Thrifty Rooter is always available just a phone call away. I really love that about their service when they first started.

Lately, I am not sure if they hired someone new, but the person on their telephone lines sound rather harsh. This happened the last time I called in to set up an appointment for repairs at my home.

She said that they would call me back, but she didn't take my details, in order for her to call me back. I waited a day and when there was no sign of a return call, I did so myself. There was someone new on the line and the experience was much different, but that initial one was a downer for me.

Had a clogged kitchen drain which another rooter company said could not be cleared, Thrifty Rooter can out and with some elbow grease and a snake, had it cleared within 15 minutes. The
tech was pleasant, efficient and honest. I would definitely recommend Thrifty Rooter.

I have used this company before and have always been satisfied with both there work and pricing. But just today I was very disappointed . They did come out on time and did the work but charged me a extra 100 for opening the main drain from a second clean out when they didn't open it from the closet clean out to the cities sewer line . The worker said he cleaned To pipes when it was only one main drain he cleaned and gave me a $20 discount but charged me extra $80 on top of the $150 they initially quoted me . I told him he should of told me if it was going to cost extra but he didn't and he still kept on insisting he cleaned to clogs in the drain when it was on one clog . They got the job done at least but very expensive . They used to be very good and reasonable before. Now they find ways to charge you extra without your approval .

I have been using THRIFTY ROOTER for over 30 years for everything. Harry is not only concerned about making sure everything is working for me, my mother and the 10 homes I manage. His company not only shows up on time, works neatly and cleans up after the job. The prices are fair and in fact less than when tenants called other plumbers out of the yellow pages. I now only permit tenants to call THRIFTY ROOTER directly as the prefered plumbing vendor. I am so happy with THRIFTY ROOTER and Harry. I refer him to everyone I know. I call upon THRIFTY ROOTER on a bi-monthly and weekly basis for service. I appreciate the office staff, they know me, all the tenants addresses and phone numbers and personalities of the tenants and always professionally respond to their concerns and frustrations. KUDDOS to HARRY and all at THRIFTY ROOTER.

Bad service, the guy that came play few min out side unfortunately I didn't stay by him to check what is he doing! When I ask him what was the problem he said that there was baby wipes & when I ask to see what he got out and he was lie that he put in trash I went to look & nothing was there! I ask him again and then he went to his track and look what to show me that he actually didn't find anything and he wasn't telling me the truth , I'm really disappointed, when u bring someone from ""professional "" company, I was expecting for batter job!! Not Evan one star

Just had a great experience with this company- as I have in the past...

I got completely screwed over by another company and called them... I explained what happened and they've gone above and beyond to help me out and to accommodate my hectic schedule.. I spoke to Kaitlyn at their offices and she was so helpful and seemed to genuinely want to take care of me...

Thank heavens for them and that they hired her!

youch the reviews here are terrible! but my two recent experiences with these guys have been completely solid.

i used these guys b/c first, my immediate neighbor did. we are hillside, and his drain was totally backed up. required using that industrial sized very big 100' motorized snake, and harry who helped him was dedicated to solving the issue -- going as far down and deep as possible, and insisting they keep the snake going until they hit the sewer line on the street. i know -- because i had my lazy ass on my neighbors deck having a drink while they were boring away at the drain via an access port! and then my neighbor and harry kept interrupting my drink asking me if i could turn on faucets in the house so they could check the flow! so ok ok i put down the drink and did my good deed for humanity for the day and turned on the faucets for them! my neighbor's drain clearing cost $100. took about an hour. and was a lot of dirty wet work.

cut to two weeks later, and my bathroom sink is running very slowly. i actually took the drain apart, poked away as far as i could but i simply did not have the tools to go much further. i could see as soon as i looked into the wall the pipe immediately bent down at 90 degrees and i also know from history, there were roots in this drain. i thought maybe there's a hairball somewhere close i can get. but no hairball. at least as far as i saw.

i called friday, they set up an appointment for saturday morning, and martin comes. jovial, smiley, eager to help. he used a handheld router on a drill. went about 15 feet, pulls out some roots. asks if i want him to go further b/c who knows what else is down there and there's the possibility the line gets caught and stuck in the roots unless they use the bigger machine. i asked, you can feel when there is resistance, right? he says yes -- so i say go as far and deep as you can but do not be aggressive. btw we are talking about the drain. i don't know where you mind just went.

he puts the router back in, this time goes maybe 25 feet, pulls it out and now there is a tennis-ball size clump of roots which he's yanked out! we try the drain, it all runs clear... and so i knew we got that sucker. this was a fairly quick job -- thank heavens i guess. took about 20 minutes only, cost $70. which is better than the $95 minimum that my other normal (and very good) plumbers charged. i felt this was a smaller job, so i didn't want to call out the big guns i have used in the past (moe, money wrench...). and for this, thrifty router did a great job.

i have no complaints, my neighbor has no complaints. i can see a lot of people here do and yes that totally sucks when a service provider does a terrible job. but i can tell you from start to finish my experience here was very good. the person who answered the phone on friday was nice, the lady who called this morning to confirm was nice. and everything went well.

call them. ask for harry or martin. and i think you'll be happy you did.

I highly recommend this company! I had a sewer line that was backing up and needed help right away. The company sent two guys out immediately. They brought the heavy machinery and gave me a fair quote of $210. (It's less if the pipe they have to access to run their rooter is easily accessible--unfortunately mine was under the house). They removed the roots that were stuck in the pipe, cleaned up after themselves. I'm super happy with the nice plumbers they sent and how diligent they were.
