Vincent was the tech dispatched to do a routine checkup. I was truly impressed at each step of maintenance he performed. He took photos the entire time and put them into a database for future reference. The guy was incredible. He was professional, polite, explained everything, and make solid recommendations. He set a new standard for me. Great job Thompson!!!!!!!

Cannot thank Nate and Jeff enough- they are my heroes!! Saved my sanity by working in this horrible heat and installing 3 ductless mini split air conditioning units in our home over past two days.
They didn't leave until everything was hooked up, cleaned up and gave us instructions on its use.nicest guys, awesome with our 3 dogs.
I can't praise them enough!!!
Also great company they work for- Darrell came out for the free estimate and gave us quotes for whole house and mini splits all in one visit with printouts and everything.
Answered my 100 questions, was very forthcoming with great info.
Would highly recommend them!! 10 stars

Vincent arrived on time and quickly identified a fault with our A/C unit which was leaking. He fixed this and was very courteous and professional. I think another company may well have said it was a much bigger job but we were relieved it turned out to be just over $300. I would call them again for any plumbing problem.

Thank you so much Thompson HAC for my great service. I called and Vincent came the very next morning. He was polite and professional but best of all I could tell he knew what he was doing. He explained everything so well. Thank you Vincent so much! My little place is nice and cold once again!
It is sad my unit had leaked a lot of freon and it is expensive to put back in.
I will definitely do better check ups every year .....my bad

Great service from Thompson's. Our air conditioner went out during a scorching heat wave. I called Thompson's figuring they would be back logged and would have to wait days for the repair. They were able to come the next day. the air conditioner was fixed within an hour. The technician who came was prompt, knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. I will use Thompsons again should the need arise.

If you're reading this right now, you're probably either really hot because you're A/C is not working, or you're freezing cold in the winter because your heat is out. In January of 2017, I was exactly where you are... researching HVAC companies in San Diego North County.

I saw lots of commercials on TV, some people wearing white gloves, some people just claiming to be in the area a long time. I made sure that I was comparing apples to apples, because a good review for a repair is not the same as a good review for a whole new system. I also went on Houzz dot com and researched what to look for in an HVAC company. Many HVAC guys answered people's questions on the site. So I found out that most of the condensers and systems are from basically two manufacturers. And that it's the companies like Carrier, Maytag, Lennox, etc. who just slap their ""badge"" on there. So why would an install be different no matter what company was installing it? The most important part of my research showed that what makes or breaks an install is the company doing the install.

OUR SITUATION: We have an old Spanish style home, 3,200 square feet, part of which is 76 years old, the other part of the house was added in 1989, (when the house had gone through a major remodel). The air ducts were at the very least 27 years old. We've only owned the house for 5 years. But the condenser outside and the air handler on the inside of the house was from 1989. Our air handler was gigantic, loud, and inefficient. You had to pause the TV and wait for it to cycle or you couldn't hear at all! Our condenser finally bit the dust and no longer put out hot air. And, by the way, the whole system was incredibly expensive to run. If we had a heat wave or cold spell and had to run it for 2 weeks, our electric bill would climb to $400.

OUR NEEDS: I wanted a new, quiet condenser that was efficient. And I wanted a new air handler, but this time I wanted it in the attic above the 2nd floor. I knew since the attic was only about 4' high in a certain area that I would need an air handler that would lie on its side. I also knew that they would have to build out the attic floor for it to sit on, as well as bringing in electricity up there, and create an attic access point. I compared prices, met with the Thompson Heating and Air salesman, and mulled over the information.

THE INSTALL: After choosing our system, Ryan, Nate, Jeffery showed up at the house. I showed them everything having to do with the old system. Showed them were the new system should go (the attic) and they began the removal of the old system. They were very thorough, extremely professional and most of all VERY, VERY knowledgeable about what they were doing. Once it was all removed, a few days later the new system was brought in and the installation began.

WHAT TO CONSIDER: If you have a house that is 10-15 years old, you're probably just going to replace your condenser and maybe your air handler. So your situation may be quicker and different from mine. But I threw them all the curves with this install because of moving the air handler to the attic and also moving the thermostat to the second floor where it would be near the air return. If you have a difficult install, you have to understand that there is a lot for them to do in order to make it work properly. Most of the air ducts could be cleaned and were in good shape. But I had them replace some of the old air ducts and add two new air returns. They took their time and clearly thought the process through so that it would work. Every step of the way these guys kept me informed, explained everything in detail until I understood what was happening. Nate was very calm, honest and all of the guys made sure that the area was cleaned up every day they were there. Ron Kruckenberg the drywall guy did GREAT work!

IN THE END: It's been 4 months since the install. During that time we've had both very cold days and now this summer, very hot days. LOVE the system. It's a Maytag. Our electric bills are incredibly low. Garrett, the owner, makes sure that you are extremely happy with your system. When I had a question about a noise in the condenser, he sent the amazing Darrell out to check on it. They tweaked the refrigerant and it was fine. These guys are constantly taking classes because not only do they have to learn about the new systems that are out today, but they also have learn about old systems. Their pricing was very fair. Their customer service (which begins with the amazing Veronica in the office) is off the charts fantastic. I've never experienced such satisfaction with a company as I have with Thompson Heating and Air. They are more like family now, or a really good friend that you can always count on. You can get quotes from other companies, but even if the equipment is quoted cheaper, you're not going to get knowledgeable people like the ones at Thompson Heating and Air. And that's who you want putting your HVAC system in your home.

5 stars for same day response time and friendly technician.
3 stars for diagnostics service.
1 star for price. They charged $300 for a diagnostic charge and 2 pounds of refrigerant. Our neighbors hired a different company add refrigerant to their a/c today for a total cost of $100.
