Amber J.They are completely overwhelmed. I want to have some compassion for them but I had to spend months on a couple things that should have been resolved in a matter days/week. A had a water heater replacement. When the gentleman (who was nice) attempted to take it out, the heater spilled out rusted water on the cream carpet. Instead of trying to pull it up the stairs himself and risk ruining the carpet more, he would come back tomorrow with another person to help him. I had to call each day for an entire week until he came back out. And he came back out by himself! I had to live with the water heater in the middle of the basement for an entire week! I'm glad I didn't have any plans with people staying at my home during that time. I had to clean up the rust spot on the carpet and was never given an apology for it. Rude, yes but not a deal breaker. I had to use this company due to my homeowner insurance. I was given a quote from my homeowner insurance but come the day of the cost wasn't the same. I spent 5 weeks trying to get a refund from T&S for the difference. I even work through my homeowner's insurance but they said it was something I had to work out with the company. I called nearly every business day to follow up on both these items. The lady working the phones was nice but she mentioned several times she was overwhelmed with the amount of work going on. I would not recommend this company based on this experience. They were nice and everything eventually was resolved but that is because I am relentless. If I didn't follow up nearly every day, I would probably still have a water heater sitting in the middle of my basement and out over $150.
My sister was doing me a favor while I was at work, by hiring these guys to install 2 bathroom faucets, and fix a leaky outdoor faucet. They installed the handles backwards on one of the sinks, and claimed the outdoor faucet had been replaced with a top notch fixture. It turned out to be a piece of junk, which didn't work at all, and had to be repaired after the first time I used it. Now, it is obviously leaking inside the wall, as evidenced by a stream of water on the outside of the house, and molding drywall on the inside. I'm starting to believe they are not certified plumbers. It took them 4.5 hours the first time to replace the two sink faucets and replace the outside fixture. They charged her over $430, had to come back the next day to switch the handles in the bath, and come back to ""fix"" the outside faucet, which now leaks inside the wall.
Stay away from these guys!!!
We used Thomas and Sons through our HSA home warranty and I was very pleased. They showed up on the early side of the time frame they gave us. Our technician was Tommy and he immediately handed me a business card when I opened the door, which is comforting as a woman in my late 20s. We had multiple areas of concern and he thoroughly inspected and addressed each one. I also had multiple general plumbing questions as a new homeowner and Tommy patiently answered every one. I am happy with my service from Thomas and Sons Plumbing!
Alex A.Horrible experience. Deductible chasers if you are working through a insurance company... they diagnosed my water heater problem without bringing in a single tool and said I need a new water heater. I got a second opinion and my problem was solved, stay away from these unethical people they will only cause you headaches.
Tim [owner] & John from Thomas & Sons Plumbing came to my house on 6/23/15 per my home warranty company. They addressed a lot of issues with the house and I explained to them why they had to come out to the house. I repeatedly asked [3-5 times] that I get their findings in a report. The most I received was their notes of what was wrong on an invoice [through a link in e-mail which is now blank] in which I had to tell them to add items they missed which was told to me when they came out to the house. I also asked for an estimate in which I was told I would get on 6/29/15 but never received. I called today 6/30/15 and spoke with Crystal to ask about getting a report and estimate [has an attitude, I found argumentative, wants to talk more than listen & is defensive] who could have told me days ago that they call the home warranty to share their findings verbally over the phone and there was no written report per Crystal to send to me but they failed to do that. Due to the issues with the house, it is under Tim's impression this may become a court case in which he made it clear he does not want to get involved even though he would not be the one sued which is why I received minimal documentation of their visit. I am very disappointed with the level of customer service I have received from this company. Report or not if I have to take my issues to court they may be supenaded whether they like it or not and it's no excuse to treat me poorly as a paying customer.
BUYER BEWARE!!!
SADLY! I didnt find these reviews until after I waited for our scheduled appt, and this company failed to show.I also foolishly trusted them as they were recommended by my warranty company.I will take advice from other reviewers now and avoid this company!
You should too!
Stephanie S.Tim was very friendly and did a good fixing my toilet and cleaned up afterwards. I will definitely use them again.
Angie R.Wonderful experience with Thomas and Sons. This company was a preferred provided with my home warranty company so I was skeptical. They came out before their scheduled time and quickly got to work. They cleared two drains and made sure everything was working right before leaving. They were very friendly. They showed me what was wrong in each drain and how to prevent further issues. I would highly recommend them to any one in need of good plumbing work. I would definitely call them again.
Homeowner/Warranty company/Insurance company BEWARE!
This is a group of the most dishonest people I have ever met. I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt since my they were contracted with my warranty company but then I finally figured out the level of their dishonesty. To make an extremely long story short(er) here's what happened:
We needed a cast iron pipe that was starting to crumble in the wall from the bathroom sink replaced. My home warranty was to cover everything except the initial $100 service charge. Thomas and Son's provided me and my warranty company two different quotes for the same job (it took me several calls on the phone to figure this part out). Therefore when my warranty company only covered $400 (what they thought was the remaining balance of the invoice) I was charged by Thomas and Son's another $138 to cover what they said my warranty company wouldn't cover. This was my first warranty claim and so I just believed them and paid them.
Then the technician told me that someone would be out in the next few days to repair the gaping hole in my wall in our office. 5 days later (I was trying to be nice and give them the benefit) I finally called them back to see when someone would be out to repair my wall. The secretary, Crystal, gave me the run around for 3 days until she finally admitted that their company doesn't do patchwork and she wasn't sure why the technician told me that. I called the warranty company to discuss this and that is when I figured that I was only ever supposed to pay the $100 out of pocket, I should have never paid above that. So, about 2 weeks after the whole ordeal started I finally was able to have another company come out and patch the wall.
After understanding the price discrepancy, my warranty company and I both contacted the company every single day for 2 weeks. Every time I talked to the OWNER of the company or the secretary, the story was changed. I could not believe that these people had the nerve to blatantly lie. They thought that they could get away with it and kept blowing me off. I think they thought it was just going to be a case of ""their word against mine"" however, I had original copies of the invoices and I had kept a detailed call log after I started figuring out that these people were going to be trouble. Thomas and Son's never came up with a satisfactory solution (although they did offer to waive the $100 service charge the next time I used them [because I'm so anxious to use them again, right.], which my warranty company said that they didn't have the power to do that anyway). Finally, my warranty company just reimbursed me the extra cost that I should not have been charged in the first place and I'm happy that I never have to deal with this horrible company again. I seriously don't know how these people sleep at night. Seeing other negative reviews about the company with similar situations helps me to believe that their dishonesty is finally catching up with them. A word of advice-- run as fast as you can to a different plumbing company!
I had to use this company as they were a ""preferred provider"" with my home warranty company. We had a leak in our basement ceiling. They tore up our entire ceiling looking for the leak. They did not seem very experienced. After many hours, they finally found the leak. They replaced the piping and I thought we were done. A week passed and it was leaking again in the exact same spot. They came back out but of course it was not actively leaking when they finally arrived. They added some glue around the pipe and called it good. Another week went by and it continued to leak! I called and demanded that someone come the next day to fix it as we had a drywaller scheduled to come out later that week. They said they couldn't squeeze us in. I feel like they should have been able to fix it the first time and if not, they should have been more accomodating. Their workmanship and customer service both suck and I would never use them again. Beware of Thomas & Sons.
