I have used Thomas for about four years and have been very satisfied with their service and professionalism. The ladies in the office are wonderful to work with. If you are looking for a friendly, professional company - they are it. Five stars in that regard. Be aware, however, that they have suddenly raised their monthly maintenance fee from $9.95 to $24.99 a month. I was told that they will not even come out for a general twice a year maintenance without that agreement. I get that they have not raised prices in several years and I can understand a modest increase - or slow increases over time - but $120 a year to $300 all of a sudden is just too much. Sadly, I will be searching for a new company.

Thomas HVAC is an outstanding company. Very friendly, prompt with their service times and extremely knowledgeable. I would HIGHLY suggest anyone with ANY HVAC needs to start their day with a call to Thomas HVAC.

Tried to tell me I need to replace a 2 yr old system with one of their $15,000 models after looking at it for 5 minutes.

Great website and seems like a good local company, but unfortunately that is not my experience. Contacted them through their website, scheduled someone, by email, to come by our house and evaluate our hvac troubles. No one showed up, company phone number does not work, received an invoice the next day for visit and a repair. Neither happened. Company has moved locations and is having issues with their phone system. They have called me and plan to come out and trouble shoot our issue. They system accidentally invoiced me for work they did elsewhere and they are looking into that too. Will update as this unfolds.

We used Thomas to troubleshoot our AC which was not cooling. There was a leak in the line somewhere, but it could either be in an area expensive to fix (the inside coil) or less expensive to fix (anywhere else). Their technician performed a leak check and during the process we heard an explosion. We ran in from the other room and asked the technician if he expected that and he said he hadn't, but we were told there was a leak in the coil that was made worse. He explained that it happened when he switched from cool to heat, which we're told should not have been done since the system should be off during this test. Regardless, he recommended we get the entire system replaced. When asking around for quotes, we had told others what had happened and they explained that 1) if the coil had blown in the coil, there would have been a cloud and strong odor throughout that part of the house, which there wasn't; and 2) there was no pressure even getting to the coil to determine if it had a leak at all. We later found an evident 2"""" HOLE in our copper pipe in the attic. The technician never even access the attic in his diagnosis. We reached out to Thomas for a refund of $192 for their supposed """"locating leak"""" but they have not responded. Since there was no pressure to actually locate the leak, they charged us $192 to simply blow a hole in our pipe and not actually locate the existing leak. Now I have 2 leaks in my system and I'm out $192. The invoice provided to me includes an acknowledgement of services, warranty confirmation, and confirmation of payment signature locations. Neither my wife nor I, the only ones authorized to do so for this work and this credit card, signed the invoice, but they scribbled a signature-looking squiggly anyways. I never once received an apology or explanation other than claiming it was a defect in the copper that was coincidentally blown while their technician was working on it. Avoid this company, their incompetent and lying technicians, and their horrible business practices or risk paying them money to fix problems they caused.

Showed up on time and were actually able to come at short notice. We had used a previous company who had told us our air conditioner was in perfect working order and then 2 months later it broke down completely. Turned out that the issue could have been fixed earlier if previous air conditioning company had actually told us the unit was completely rusted out - something that would have been very obvious 2 months ago. Anyway, Thomas HVAC came through for us quickly and efficiently. Air con is working perfectly and I will never use any other company.

Do not use will rob you blind. Was told by manager I wasn't paying for labor and parts I was paying to get my hvac working. Charged $360 for 30 min labor and $30 in parts. Do not use these people unless you want to get ripped off.

From my experience, if you have Juan work on your HVAC you're going to be fine. He will work until the job is done. As for the company, I probably won't use them again. I had an issue they came out and fixed for $150. It took the tech about 10 minutes and he said it was a clogged tube going to a vacuum switch. He then tried to upsell a system cleaning, which would include replacement of already warranted parts for $1400. He said it would take a few hours if I decided to go that route. So basically it was going to be $700 an hour to clean and replace parts that are already under warranty. He leaves and the heaters working. I leave town the next day and I'm gone for a week. When I return the heater is broken again! I called them out AGAIN and I get charged another $85 to replace the vacuum switch! In my mind, the vacuum switch is what should have been replaced in the first place! Juan did do a great job and got me fixed up. I will say that he did have to make multiple trips and he didn't charge me for. I think he was doing it on his own time because he felt bad. He's a good guy. The ladies in the office I talked to on the phone were very nice as well. The only one I didn't care for was the Ed, the service manager, who said that it couldn't be proved the switch bad the first time they came out so he had to charge me to pay his guy. If that's how they conduct business, than I'll be going to someone else.

My wife and I are extremely happy with Thomas HVAC Company and have used them for years, even as we have moved. We now live about 45 minutes from Huntsville but still choose to have Thomas service us, and they have no problems doing that. Great service and they are very good about educating us and being very upfront. They have helped us by servicing our systems, replacing a little ductwork because our dog pee'd in it, and IAQ in duct UV light that has been amazing! They have also fixed two huge safety issues in our homes, which were overlooked by previous heating and air companies. I verified that these issues were indeed problems, and one was a code violation with how a previous hvac guy installed our unit. We are all good now thanks for Thomas! Highly recommend!

OK, on Wednesday Jan 27, I came to my rental property to a cold downstairs. There are separate units for upstairs and downstairs. The unit would not start, the fan would not come on to circulate air... it was totally dead. The rental is empty and I'm getting it ready to re-rent. It was freezing out so I looked on Google and Angie's List and decided to call Thomas HVAC in Huntsville to diagnosis and repair it. They sent over a tech, Lee, who was there within hours. He came up to investigate and since it was cold, I stayed inside (something I should not have done). I watched Lee from the upstairs window. He opened the unit and poked around a bit. After 5 or 10 minutes, he came in and said the heat exchanger had holes in it. He showed me pictures of the exchanger on his phone. He said the unit (a 1999 Frigidaire gas pack) was obsolete and he could not get a new heat exchanger for it. He said if he could find one, it'd be $3,800 to replace it. He said I was """"lucky"""" that no one had died because the unit was spewing carbon monoxide and was dangerous. He said I needed a brand new unit and started quoting at $12,000 for a new Trane. I squawked and he came down to $6,900 for an Amana. I was not ready to buy so I paid him his service fee of $79 with my AmEx card. I received nothing in writing: no receipt, no written diagnosis and no quote. I signed a hand held device and he left. It was freezing in the house and the pressure was high for me to do something. I lugged over space heaters so the pipes would not burst and started looking at ways to mitigate the financial cost. I found a brand new Goodman's on ebay that could be delivered for $1,900. I thought if I could find an HVAC guy to install for between $1,000 - $2,000 then I saved $3,000 or $4,000. I realized I needed a written quote from Lee to compare specs. I contacted them and asked for one. In response I was given a one liner quote: 1 1G4A $6,515.00. It was so vague I couldn't believe it they submitted this to me. I paid them $79.00 & got this?? So I pressed them for a real quote (heat BTU, cool BTU, tonnage, make, model, warranty, etc... you know, the kind of stuff you'd want to know if you were going to spent $7,000!) I finally got a better quote from them that had everything except a model number, which they said they'd get to me later -- I never did get that but oh well. I used the specs that I could get out of them. During my search for all this, I found a licensed, insured & bonded HVAC guy who could install or give 2nd opinion. He came over 2 days later and immediately started up the unit. He found a minor problem with PCB & repaired it for $330.00. He tested exchangers & CO and found no problems. Because Lee had showed me pictures of the exchanger, I believed the heat exchanger really had a hole. DO NOT LOOK AT PICTURES OF THE HEAT EXCHANGER AS PROOF. Look at the heat exchanger with your own eyes! Also get on Google and type in """"cracked heat exchanger carbon monoxide HVAC scam"""" to see the scam for yourself. Companies are using scare tactics by using such statements as """"carbon monoxide death trap"""" to get people to buy units they don't need. People are especially vulnerable in the cold winter or hot summer but do NOT let anyone disable your unit. Get a 2nd opinion! After my my unit was repaired, I contacted Thomas HVAC again. I asked if Lee had pulled off of the unit's internal power connectors. (I think he damaged the PCB when he jerked off the connectors but have no proof.) Lee responded, """"Yes by law, I'm required to disable the unit so the homeowner can't start it back up."""" That is total BS! I read the IFGC and called the HSV gas & mechanical inspector, Freddy Jones, who agreed that service companies are NOT ALLOWED to condemn units by disconnect internal connectors or any other means. Lee should have pulled the HVAC's at its disconnect & shut off the gas valve. And if he really thought it was a death trap, he should have called HSV Utilities' gas department (open 24/7) to lock the gas valve so the unit could not be turned back on! Freddy Jones called Thomas HVAC to tell them they committed a code violation and knock it off. I bet that got their attention! A service company, especially one who is trying to sell new units, should not be disabling people's heat source in the middle of winter!!! In addition, Thomas' service tech (Lee) IS NOT A LICENSED HVAC TECHNICIAN! HE IS ONLY AN EMPLOYEE of Thomas HVAC. His only qualifications are that he is a W-2 employee of Thomas HVAC (not a contractor) and he works for them 30 hours a week. That's it. I was furious this unlicensed guy came out to my house in the freezing cold and disabled a unit, when it only needed a minor repair. Lee never fired up the unit and did NO TESTS whatsoever for carbon monoxide or anything else. The only thing he did was take pictures (maybe) and illegally disable the unit just in order to get a sale!!
