Willard G.The plumbers that came out were nice but because they seen that I was frantic and really in need I feel I was taken advantage of. I have a small sink in my bathroom and the plumber told me that he could fix my sink for $400. I then ran to atm while they began fixing it. Upon doing so I trusted the men in my house because I live alone and had just come from the hospital. By time I got back they were already done with the sink. Its a really small sink. I then asked could I take a bird bath because I can't use the tub? The plumber said no. He said that he found another leak. I stated that why would you charge me $400 for something that I can't use. He stated that he needed to wait for the pipes to unfreeze. Fast forward to last week the new people who are working on my house turned on the water and the pipe that THE PLUMBING WORKS supposedly fixed was spaying all over. When I called the company and asked why is this happening they then said because the pipe that they fixed is compensating for the other side. So they fixed a product that was doomed to fail. In there desperate attempt to take advantage who obviously knew nothing about plumbing and was in desperate need. This was is the wrong way of doing business. It should be stopped. They should come fix my sink like they said when I gave them the money. So they are trying to charge me almost $1000 for a small sink and I mean its really small. I wish you guys could see this.
It seems my last review was removed from google since it didn't praise the company, I have issued a review in the BBB. This company has very poor craftsmanship and the tech Avaion is unprofessional and unskilled. Cabinets are missing from my home without signing for them to be removed, my wall was smashed with a hammer without informing me, my roof was drilled through and after asking how it will be repaired I was told that they do not cross trades. I advice you to find another company to use for your plumbing needs. STAY AWAY
Our main sewage line broke that goes from the house, out threw our front yard, to the street. It was 12 feet under ground. They tore up plants and shrubs we said we wanted. We also told them that I was in a wheelchair, and needed to be able to get to my car in the driveway, so they had to cut right threw the walkway. They said when they were done they would put it back for me. They broke it. They just replaced the pipe, filled loosely with dirt, so the dirt settled. And just left with our front yard looking a mess.
I wish there was less than a star. Zack came to my home to replace a sump pump...my auxiliary rusted out.
Based on the plastic box that houses my battery backup, he told me I need a Pro-Flo System. I told him that my pumps were replaced over time I did NOT have a Pro-Flo system as indicated on the plastic box alone. He was too young to listen, or he thought I had been born yesterday...
He could not give me a quote because he had tried getting the part I needed, which he claimed was only sold in a Pro-Flo ""kit"" and he would have to wait until the supplier called him to let him know whether he could buy it alone.
Zack disengaged the rusted auxiliary pump and told me I would be okay until he got a quote together because the main pump was working.
There was a $40 come-out fee which, once I accepted the quote would be integrated into the total cost of the job...but I wasn't given a quote and since I was not born yesterday, I didn't pay the $40.
As far as having a working sump pump, Zack apparently didn't have the expertise to know that the water would go up the working pump, and then go down the pipe which led to the rusted pump--putting the water right back in my pit.
And the company doesn't want to hear complaints. They complain to you while you are letting them know how to improve their business.
Avoid.
P.S. I confirmed with said supplier that the parts were interchangeable....I even bought the pump from the supplier... :)
John N.Terrible service. Job was to install 2 new toilets. Found an issue with a part, which plumber had on truck but computerized pricing system couldn't determine what to charge and neither could the main office when he called, so they rescheduled to come the next day. Canceled their new appointment time (which they selected) 15 min before being due for job and wanted me to wait another day or over the weekend to finish work. No real regard for my schedule as we were having other work completed on other days. BEWARE!
Our two floor bathroom backed up and started dumping water into our vestibule below. Our regular plumber did not have a snake long enough to reach the basement from the second floor. I called Plumbing Works and they sent a technician on Tuesday, Dec 17 since they could not come Monday. The young man was pleasant, but unable to solve our problem. He refused to use a snake on our toilet. He focused on snaking our sink and bathtub. He was so sure he did not twice. No change - the toilet was blocked and so were the sink and bathtub. Plumbing works sent a different guy on Wed, Dec 18. Although he tried to use a snake on the toilet, but he had a short snake. No improvement whatsoever. They charged me over $900 dollars and did nothing! It impacted my party on Saturday night when I had over 150 people there. Since they did nothing, I thought I should get some money back. At the party, our downstairs toilet clogged up as well and people left and I had spent about $4000 for catered food. We had a lot left over. Over 200 at the party last year. I feel that The Plumbing Works took advantage of me. They suggested that I let them tear up the floor to see what was wrong which was not going to happen before my party. I suggest that you try other options before you contact The Plumbing Works for any problems. Bill Bateman, Centre Park Historic District.
Great company with courteous techs! I highly recommend The Plumbing Works.
So, generally you have someone come out to quote a job, then give you an estimate. This company...when you don't use them charges you for your quote, even if they diagnose the problem wrong. We had a clog in our drain for our HVAC due to sediment. They diagnosed a new motor, a new switch, etc., etc. - to the tune of $1400.00. - but really the sediment needed to be cleaned from the drain, cost me for my time with the shop vac - IT COST ME $380.00 to diagnose and $75.00 for the visit. THE SERVICE WAS SO GREAT, I GOT TO PAY FOR A MISDIAGNOSED PROBLEM. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! AND I MEAN NEVER - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! ABSOLUTELY UNETHICAL, SCAM PRACTICES for MONEY!!
Called this company to install a ballcock in an upstairs toilet. Also to sweat a 1/2"" straight valve onto the 1/2"" water supply line. They wanted to charge $370 for about 50 minutes of work and maybe $30 worth of parts. Hell,a ballcock at Home Depot may cost $12 and a 1/2"" straight valve may cost another$10,plus a little bit for the gas they use to sweat the old valve off/on. Seems like a ripoff company to me.
Tj C.My experience with this company was awful. Avoid at all costs. They explained to my wife there was a $50 fee to come to the property to diagnose an issue. Then, when they did not diagnose the issue, they told my wife they were still going to charge $50 since our tenant was on site and we were not(even though we were available by phone the entire time.)
We wanted them to finish their diagnosis but then they pulled a little ""bait and switch"" by saying they were going to charge $190 on top of the original $50 to diagnose. This was after my tenant already complained their service tech was rude and acted as if the entire trip was an inconvenience for him. When I called them on this, the company told me they recorded all of their phone calls. They told me they went back and listened to the call and they felt they were right. So now you are recording my calls without permission and without telling me first?? Forget it.
Needless to say, I have decided to go with someone else.
