Kudos to this man for being persistent and fixing my toilet handle. Third visit was a charm. The first two visits were unsuccessful due to parking constraints in my neighborhood. Hes your typical social plumber. I believe it was the owner that serviced me.

I had toilet issues. No, nothing gross, just that the guts of the tank were wonky, and I replaced them with parts from the Home Depot. Several hours later, after having to removed said tank from toilet (long story -- stupid developers and their decorative counter directly ABOVE the toilet tank), I had proudly installed new guts to the toilet tank. Fast forward several months later -- the float valve sounded like a jet engine every time the toilet flushed. Apparently, the flapper valve or something was leaking as the tank would empty just enough for the get engine sounding float valve to engage -- EVERY 10 MINUTES. My fix? Close the bathroom door. But, there was no getting around that jet engine sounding float valve. Fast forward several more months (yes, I waited this long), and I find The Plumbing Doctor on Yelp (aka., John). He has availability after 5PM, which is awesome. He has better guts for the tank, which is awesome. He does NOT have to remove the tank from the toilet, which is awesome. He gives me choices -- new guts or whole new toilet, how long each will last, etc., which is awesome. He gets the toilet fixed in record time, the bloody thing doesn't make a peep, doesn't leak, and I am a happy homeowner once again.

If you need someone to come quick, quote you a fair price (remember, kids, he can come AFTER 5PM, which technically is overtime), is respectful of your home (he took his boots off and left them outside), then The Plumbing Doctor should be your first and last call for plumbing service. Apparently, he's fixed plumbing problems for several units in my building, so I know I will be using him for future plumbing problems. Thanks John!

I could not be happier with the quick, professional job done by Jon. We were about to leave on a 3 week international vacation...and wouldn't you know it, the night before we left, our garbage disposal/kitchen sink clogged and would not drain. We did not just want to leave it for the entire time we were gone as we did not want to come home to a stinky mess. So after getting multiple no's from other plumbing companies, I finally found The Plumbing Doctor. I called, he answered, and was to our place within the HOUR!! Saving me tons of worry on our trip. He did a great job too. I would definitely recommend him!! :)

The work was dishonest.

We called them a few months ago to have a garbage disposal replaced. We told them what model we had. When the guy showed up he acted surprised as if our model was very unusual. He said he only had a very upscale replacement available for that kind of installation. Otherwise he had to come back later. He convinced me to get another model that he claimed was excellent. He charged two visits + work + new equipment = a whole lot.

Afterwards we found that the model we used to have was the best selling garbage disposal at the home depot (i.e. anything but rare) and the one he sold us as an outstanding piece of material is the cheapest crap available.

I called the Doctor yesterday after a debacle and over-priced visit from Roto-Rooter (RR) regarding some toilet maintenance and piping.

As background: RR decided to turn on and off my main water valves which are nearly 18 years old, rusted, and ready to fall off the walls. As a result, water sprayed everywhere and no matter the position, a constant leak ensued. I toweled the area and asked RR to leave and paid through the teeth for their ""help""

I ran to Yelp and found the Doctor, who was able to take a look at my valves and leak within 60-90 minutes of my call. He explained the solution in terms I could understand, and presented a competitive price for the fix.

I was so pleased to have a fast, reliable, and knowledgable plumber. He was friendly, professional, funny, and a fellow dog lover. I also learned a lot from him regarding the water supplies and plumbing of my home. I would trust him to complete projects - small and large - in a timely and effective manner, giving priority to each of your emergencies and making each homeowner feel like a VIP.

2/7/2014 Update - Jon called last night after seeing my Yelp review. He explained that the texts were never received but didn't have an explanation for the VMs. He did offer to make it up to me in any way, which is appreciated and shows a lot of professionalism. For that reason, I'm bumping up my review.

First of all, I found The Plumbing Doctor randomly on Yelp. He was local and had a good rating, so I called him up. We had a major sewer line problem with sewage backing up into our basement. It was an emergency! The Doctor fit us in and came right out. He and his team spent hours rooting the sewer line and eventually had to put in an outside cleanout pipe on our existing sewer line. Not an easy trick in 5 degree, snowy, icy weather. They worked almost around the clock just to get the new access installed and clean out my line. If he would have charged by the hour like most plumbers I would have been in more than just deep s**t. Even though he worked the weekend and late into Friday night, he recognized we were on a budget and did the job as affordably as possible. The Doctor is honest, knows his s**t and is truly there to help you out. His magnet more than earned its spot on my refrigerator. I will definitely call him again and recommend him to friends.

If I could give no stars I would. I called the the plumbing doctor to reseat the toilet. After removing the toilet he looked at the broken flange, made some kind of comment about a plumber. He then reseated the toilet using 2lbs of plumbers putty. The toilet started leaking after the first flush. I called him and he informed me the floor was rotten out and needed to be replaced. He said his buddy could do it for over $300.00 and that would not include any kind of tile, just a subfloor. The bathroom floor is concrete with a wood subfloor.
I called another plumber, he repaired the flange and reseated the toilet. I asked him if the floor needed to be replaced, he checked the floor from the basement and said the floor was sound, it was not rotten wood and the floor was sound.
The plumbing doctor was very unprofessional, he did not give me a receipt for any work done. Instead he walked thru my house to place a magnet on my refrigerator, that said I have a 2 year warranty.
All I can say if you want an unprofessional plumber that does not repair your plumbing problems, is over-priced, and does not give receipts for work done call the plumbing doctor. You will regret it! and you will be calling another plumber!

A couple days ago, I discovered that the pilot light on my water heater wouldn't stay lit. I tried everything in my (and the boyfriend's) limited skill sets to no avail, and decided to call John. He called me back very quickly, set a window for the following evening after work, texted in the morning confirming the window, and showed up promptly.

John was professional and personable. He me know what was wrong, and gave me the heads up that since the broken part had already been replaced once and an additional part was on it's way out, that he could get it up and running but I would need a new water heater when the second part went out (understandable- it's 10 years old!). I'll have no problem calling John to do the installation when the time comes.
