The Plumbing Doc
Company Overview
Your reliable neighborhood plumbing company is The Plumbing Doc. The company is led by Rick Clemmons, a native of Arlington, California, born in 1959, moved to Bakersfield in 1964. Growing up in Kern County, Rick has built strong relationships and connections within the community over the years. He completed high school in 1976 and joined the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he became a member of the Kern County Fire Department, performing duties as a seasonal fireman in Keene, California. After the fire season wrapped up, he attended college in Texas and then returned to Bakersfield College, focusing on subjects ranging from Mathematics to Diesel Mechanics and Welding. He joined the apprenticeship program at Operating Engineers Local #12, where he trained as both a Heavy Equipment Operator and a Diesel Mechanic/Welder. He graduated from this dual program, receiving the Dorothy Donahue award for being the top apprentice in the AFL/CIO across California and Nevada.
He launched ""The Plumbing Doc"" in 2004, equipped with two trucks and basic tools. With perseverance and a dedication to customer service, the company has expanded into what it is today. Though the early days were difficult, Rick relied on positive word-of-mouth to keep going. We always showed up punctually, provided top-notch work at reasonable rates, and upheld honesty. We are experts in nearly all plumbing services. As a leader in both residential and commercial service and repair plumbing, our extensive experience and attentiveness to customer needs set us apart. We cater to customers throughout Kern County and the larger Bakersfield area. Our Local Service Center employs advanced computerized dispatch technology to ensure our technicians reach customers quickly. We have a team of customer service representatives, dispatchers, training specialists, and warehouse staff supporting our expert technicians. I am 55 years old and have been in the plumbing industry for over 30 years. My background in various construction phases allows me to identify issues that others may overlook. We often receive calls from other plumbers seeking help with technical issues. Customer satisfaction is my primary focus, followed by providing quality service at a reasonable price. I don’t advertise myself as the cheapest plumber around, I work hard to be the best in the business. Recommended Customer Reviews

Received a referral for this company from a family member, but we were not satisfied with the service. We had dripping showers in 2 restrooms. The guys came to review the work that needed to be done but spent more time on the road than the actual project. We discussed installing new handles, but that did not happen. On top of that ,the rings that go around the knobs were not glued back down, and we had to finish the rest ourselves after paying a pretty penny. The only positive is that the showers are no longer dripping. Long story short. Wish we would have received the 5 star treatment that I see in the comments.

I contacted plumbing doctor to do an inspection for the whole house, not only were they 1 1/2 hours late but they failed to communicate with me that they were going to be late. I had to call them to ask if they were still coming. When I scheduled my appointment I spoke with a lady who told me that the cost for general inspection would be $190 and if I need cameras it would be an additional $100. I scheduled an appointment for Saturday and the lady never mentioned any additional fees for weekend calls. She also mentioned that it would be an hour for inspection and about another hour for camera inspection. The plumber johnny spent less than an hour here and was rushing the whole time it seemed like he was late yet again for his next appointment. After completing the home inspection he gave me a bill of over $500 for inspection which did not include any kind of labor. I then communicated with him that I was given a different quote over the phone, he then contacted the administrator office who apparently told him to give me a $100 discount. I ended up paying $150 more because they fail to communicate with me the correct costs when I first call them, this is unacceptable. I then contacted the office and Rick or some other guy answered the phone and he was very unprofessional did not apologize for the miscommunication or said he would address it and the only thing he said was that it might have been a new girl who gave me the wrong information. As a business owner/manager you have to take ownership. I checked the toilet after the plumber left and there was a leak from one of the valves he left open so I had to fix it myself yet again another example of him rushing. Johnny told me I had a loose diverter and a bad shower spout and would need to drill in the wall to fix it. Yet again another lie, I've contacted another licensed plumber the next day and he said I did not have to do that and fix the issue right there and then. Then, after the plumber left he said I would get an invoice within 30 minutes, but did not get anything so I had to call them because they had not sent me any anything after 2 hours which was very frustrating. The customer service and lack of professionalism and lying to customers about prices , I will not be moving forward in completing plumbing labor with this company. The invoice was also very disrespectful, the plumber or whomever took it upon themselves to include in the recommendations "" smile"" . This is out of line and completely disrespectful to your customers. The lack of transparency with prices, unprofessionalism, bad customer service I will not recommend this business to anyone. I work in human resources, and as a professional this is unacceptable behavior. Please address this issue with your team.

Thank you plumbing doc for saving me thousands of dollars! Very honest, respectful, knowledgeable men. They Came out with intentions to cut out a snake that a (different plumbing company) got stuck in my line and planned on jackhammering my floor up and re-piping my sewer line. But thanks to guys they knew what they where doing. They were able to get it unstuck and out of my drain and saved me money. We found our new plumbing company. Look forward to doing business with them
I 100% recommend them.

So I had an emergency happening in my house and I called a couple of plumbers and it would of taken up to a week to get the job done so I called the plumbing Doc and Jeremiah and his assistant got it done same day I called.Reasonable prices too.

Had all the pipes in my house replaced with PEX. The tear down and plumbing was fine. They worked around my messy house and only had to turn the water off for a few hours.
To access some of the plumbing the drywall and external wall had to be cut open. The repair was included in the job. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else for drywall/stucco.
Patches of drywall under the sinks not repaired. The outside stucco isnt supported correctly, if you push a little the wall the stucco moves. Old supply valves not cut off. Dishwasher had to be removed and wasn't reinstalled correctly.
One guy repairing the walls came out for 2-3 days patching the drywall. But the job was taking too long so the first guy had to ""go to another job"", and they sent the second string subcontractor. 2nd guy came out and poorly patched one side of the external wall and completely missed the other side. (Like a huge 8'x2' hole).
I had to call back twice to see if they were going to come back and complete the job.
A bunch of small details that kept being missed. To their credit, the issues I found while they were doing the job, they fixed promptly.
Tl:dr: overall did a decent job on pipes, hire someone else to fix the holes.
Also... I suppose I never thought about it. But some of my tools were taken from my garage and used. They weren't stolen or anything. Just used. I suppose it's not a big deal, but they never asked. It was more odd than anything.

Thank you Plumbing Doc! After calling or contacting 6 other plumbers, I got the response I needed. Had a leaking pipe outside the house. The technicians showed up and got the job done. After turning the water on they discovered that there was still a problem. Problem was corrected without an additional charge. Will definitely use them again if other problems arise.

When my Home Warranty wouldn't help me. And nobody would come out with my water heater busted ,the plumbing doc was here within 24 hours and fixed it! no issues amazing customer service hands-down recommended!!!!! Thank you guys!

I called the Plumbing Doc at about 12:30 am because my mom decided to install the filter in my refrigerator. And as a result, the refrigerator was leaking from below and when she opened the bottom drawer, water was gushing out. I immediately looked for a 24 hour plumber online and the Plumbing Doc was available. He told me I needed to shut the valve off in order to stop the leaking. He walked me through the steps to find the valve. Once, I was able to turn it off, the refrigerator stopped linking. He was very patient and calm on the phone and didn't charge me anything. He said he was there to help. I really appreciate his helpful service and would recommend Plumbing Doc to anyone who needs a plumber, particularly late at night.

Had a plumbing problem on a weekend, these guys were at my house 15 minutes after I called and had the problem fixed in 30. To top it off it cost less than I expected. Couldn't be happier. Thanks again!

I highly recommend the plumbing doc.! I called to make an appointment, the time was at 6 pm, however I got a call saying that they had an opening at 12 which was awesome. Isaac and Brando came to help me out. They were extremely nice and professional, did everything fast, and got the job done. I highly recommend to anybody that has a plumbing issue. thanks guys.!
