Avoid them like the plague. Five years ago they installed a high efficiency heat/hot water system in our home. It was inspected. It passed. Then the system had a problem and needed to be replaced. Mind you it cost a few thousand the first time and it took all day as it had to be wall mounted. Doug Goss did the work and mounted right on the wall directly next to the main circuit breaker box. This year, we choose to use them again thinking they had done a fine job.

This time they charge 2k for a job that took less than two hours and this time the town inspector fails it with a huge part of the issue being the plumbing pipes are too close to the fuse box. We are told it must be moved. The plumber company refused to do this saying it was just a reinstall and claiming no fault even though they had mounted it on the wall originally TOO CLOSE to the main circuit breaker and the town negligently let this one go five years ago. I contact the plumber company. Their installer returns, mouthing off at me before he is even through the door that he's not moving the unit. Got very rude. Said he was going to make the inspector pass it (quite threatening in his tone too). He fixed a few small things complaining about them too. Then took off to have it out with the town inspector. I had to call the company to tell them to stop this guy or he would make more problems for me.

So far I've wasted several hours trying to sort this out with the town and the plumber company. The plumber company said the company was a different name and under different ownership since the last job five years ago and even then it was only a one year warranty for their code violating work or bare minimum not letting us know it was not up to code so we could have planned properly back then. I'm still sorting this out but all I can say is from start to finish these guys suck. Sure the system works fine. The install is fine. But major codes were completely overlooked and had we known this we could have updated it then. Several thousand dollars later, we might have to spend another 2k or more to remount it and move the pipes away from the fuse box. Also, the company was still called the plumber company back then as it is on all my paperwork. So there was no name change despite they tried to tell me there was.

Last Friday I had an appointment to have a plumber from this company come fix my sink and a drain pipe. I had a set appointment time and took time out of work to be there at the allotted time. They did not show up for the appointment so I called the secretary to see what the issue was. She stated they moved the appointment back to the next two hour slot they had available without telling me or making sure that was okay with me, forcing me to wait unknowingly and missing more work. I told the secretary, Alexis that I couldn't be there for that time and that I would be canceling my appointment and using a different company. Her response to this was to call me a weenie and hang up on me.....

Completely unprofessional, rude and insulting. I would not suggest supporting this business. Seek help elsewhere.

The Plumber company has been FRAUDULENTLY using my home address to create the illusion that they are part of the North Kingstown community when they are NOT!

In 2017 I became aware that my address on Google was being used by the Plumber Company as their ""NORTH KINGSTOWN BUSINESS ADDRESS"". After researching the company website I found that they were doing the same thing in 5 other locations across Rhode Island.

I attempted to contact DOUGLAS GOSS, the owner of THE PLUMBER COMPANY multiple times throughout 2017 and 2018 about changing his business address on his Google Business Page, his company website, or any other forum that he may have published. Mr. Goss never returned any of my calls - even when his receptionist stated that he would get right back to me. He ducked, dodged and ignored me at every turn... and I was reminded that this pattern of non-communication is exactly what cowardly con artists do.

On Monday, March 5th, 2018... I was able to call The Plumber Company on a different phone line that they use - and I blocked my phone number before dialing. The person who answered identified himself as Doug Goss (so I could only assume that he was Douglas Goss, the person that I have been trying to reach).

I immediately told Mr. Goss that I need him to change his North Kingstown business address. He responded by asking who I was, so I identified myself as the owner of the property. I then repeated my request and stated that I needed it done as soon as possible.

Mr. Goss - after a long pause - stated that he could get the ""Google Listing"" down, but that was it.

I then said... that I needed it removed from Google and ALL of his websites or marketing. I went on to say that we MIGHT have been able to work something out if he didn't dodge my calls and I didn't have to chase him for so many months. I was upfront and told him that I found his way of handling my repeated attempts to reach out to him as ""SKETCHY"".

This was a normal conversational tone and while I may have been direct - at no time did I express myself in an unprofessional manor.

At this point Mr. Goss EXPLODED. He said... ""Ya know what? You can go F*CK YOURSELF."" He went on to say that I ""F*CKED WITH THE WRONG GUY"". He then strung together an angry and violent statement that I ""BETTER NOT F*CK WITH HIM"" because he ""HAS SOMETHING IN HIS DESK"" just for me.

The implication was that he has a GUN and that he would shoot me. This man knows EXACTLY where I live. He is clearly unstable and I take this as an extremely serious threat upon my life.

He then stated that he would NEVER change the ""f*cking address"" and I'm pretty sure he said a few other things... before hanging up on me.

I believe he resides in Cranston, but with all of the false addresses on his website, I cannot be sure.

I have filed a police report with the Rhode Island State Police. And my next step is to take legal action to stop him from conducting this fraud.

This plumber is extremely over priced! The said $200 to come out but came off the work! They pointed a heater at my pipes, which were frozen, they released in 25 to 30 minutes including the bathroom, which they did nothing to. They hung around for another hour and charged me $600 and no $200 credit! Ripoff!

worst company I ever dealt with for heating; they installed my gas burner almost 2 seasons ago which was fine; this year in October when it was still warm I got them to install 2 radiators in a new room $1400; once it got cold one radiator wasn't heating up; I called and just asked a plumber to call me; I called 5 days in a row and waited a week and still no call; I then called and demanded they come to my house and that I wasn't paying for it; they came and did a few things and still no heat; Doug said it would cost another $1400 to change the little side vents and one other connection; I said no. Now I see once in a while a little water leaking out of the water glass on the side of the burner and I'm going to have to call someone else because they want to keep charging for service when this shouldn't be happening. I paid over $8000 for the burner with installation. Worst customer relations I've ever seen. Good luck to anyone else in the future.

This was the forth time using The Plumber Company for heating and plumbing work on a rental property and my residence. The first job connecting the rental property to city sewer, the second installing new heating system in the rental property and the third was installing a new water heater in my home. I was satisfied with these three jobs. Unfortunately, the forth job, replacing a home heating oil tank in the garage at my home hasn't been too good. The installers did not level the new tank and from one end to the other it drops 1 inch (over a five foot span). Why they didn't get this level I'll never know, but it would only have taken a few extra minutes to get it right. I've contacted James at The Plumber Company twice now and been promised a call back to discuss rework if needed and had no response or followup from them. Also, when turning on the heat for the first time this season the burner would not fire. It turns out that the installers did not clear all the air from the line during the install and it cost me an additional $119 for the service call that should not have happened. Needless to say this was not, and is not, a good experience for me. Don't know what happened to this company, but I dealt with Doug Goss, the principal of the company, on the first three jobs. Probably won't consider them on future jobs and suggest you don't either.

It's never fun to be in the position where you need a plumber.  I found my self in such a position just last week.  The sink in my kitchen had been draining slowly for a while, but not a big deal, right? WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! I ran my dishwasher one night last week and in the morning found both sides of my double sink half filled with greasy, black water.  I knew there was no option other than to call in a professional, and yes, I had tried the whole drain cleaner thing, to no avail.

I had written a review of another plumbing company, that installed a new toilet for me awhile ago.  I was very happy with their work, but maybe it was just a little too expensive, so I decided to look for someone else.

If you have ever tried to find a plumber by calling them from a list of plumbers in your area, provide by Google, you soon find getting anyone to answer, or even return you call is next to impossible.

The Plumber Company changed everything!   Alexis, answered the phone promptly, listened to my tale of woe, then sadly told me that they were already completely booked for the day (a Friday).  I made a tentative appointment for someone to come on Saturday, for an ""emergency appointment"", which required an extra fee, as they don't normally work on weekends.  I wasn't thrilled, but set it up and told her I would try and see if I could find anyone who could come out to me that day, and would caller her back to let her know for certain I was keeping the appointment.  After several unanswered calls to other plumber and a final call to a man who answered with a slurred hello (it was only 11:30 am, I assume he was kicking off his weekend a little early, or had taken a ""liquid lunch"" break).  I gave up, and knew that I would keep the appointment with The Plumber Company.  Due to a miss understanding, which was partly my fault, when I called back to confirm the 9 am appointment for the following day, the man who answered thought I was canceling.
Come Monday, yes slightly annoyed that no one had come over the weekend or had returned my call, I called their office. The reason I did was 100% because of how my interaction with Alexis had gone on Friday.  She said she would get someone out to my house right away, and apologized for the confusion.

The someone she sent was plumber Brandon Leo.

I won't go into too much detail as to what all needed to be done, suffice it to say there was, snaking, jetting, wall opening, and pipe replacement afoot. I can't say enough about Brandon, but let me try.

First and foremost, punctual, he even called to tell me he was on his way. He was professional in both his appearance and in his assessment of my problem.  Secondly, he clearly explained what the situation was and the options to resolve it.  He gave his opinion as to what he thought was ""best"" but didn't make me feel pressured to go that way. And finally, he also was very diligent about leaving my house clean, I've had some workers in the past leave a mess in their wake, with little to no respect for my home and property.

In the end, I still will have some near future plumbing issues, related to my septic system, but because I now have a better understanding as to how my plumbing works. I can plan accordingly.

Regarding the cost: the adage ""you get what you pay for"" is always something I think about with this kind of job. The truth is, it wasn't cheap, but I believe it was fair. I also have to say that there is real value in a) knowing that when you call, an actual person will answer, and b) that the worker that comes is the best they have.

I highly recommend The Plumber Company.

When you call ask Alexis if she can send the friendly, professional, knowledgeable and hard working Brandon, and you should be GOLDEN!
