I was referred to these guys from a friend, but I will not be calling them again. Not bc their work was bad BUT bc they are dishonest in their dealings. They quoted us a price over the phone ($75/hr) and told us it might take two hours, tops, which we thought was fair. The techs get here and then claim the same job is going to cost $650+ and would take a few hours. When I told them it wasn't what we were quoted on the phone, for a simple water heater install (of which, we had the new one already here and down by the old-so no hauling it themselves AND we'd drained the old one for them.) They told us it wasn't enough to pay two guys . That's not my problem if their company doesn't know how to make quotes that will afford to pay their techs. It's wrong if they don't pay them fairly but not our responsibility to make sure it's done right- we are not their CEO! They tried to blame the 'misquote' on some mysterious 'new gal' but it wasn't a gal that quoted it to us. It was a man named Zach who had. As soon as we told him who had quoted it to us, he began haggling on a price with us and wouldn't look me in the eyes at all. Since they would have to change a water fitting, we thought it fair for the extra labor and parts (very small) to raise it to $300 for a bit more work involved and settled on that- still more than quoted initially. While they are working, believing these techs might be getting gipped by their own company on pay, we decide to call 'Zach' and find out why we were quoted one thing and their techs were never told about it. When we call, I ask to speak to Zach and get a very nervious reply, while I hear banging in the background and then realize it's the very same banging going on in my OWN BASEMENT! They knew all along! Zach was the tech in my basement and he is the one who quoted us $75/hr and came here trying to haggle for nearly 6x that, while lying and claiming it was bc of his 'new gal'. This is beyond dishonest, folks! They finished in UNDER A HALF HOUR!!! You know...the same job they said would take about 1.5-2hrs and be $75/hr. They knew it was as easy as we knew it was and wanted to get a TON more for it, regardless so they thought they could pull one over on the one spouse that was here, thinking I wouldn't know what was quoted or be too stupid as to the job itself. So, they may do good work, which makes no difference to us now bc they completely lack INTEGRITY! Trying to scam people for a higher price bc you didn't quote what you wanted to begin with is just wrong. We'll pay what we agreed upon JUST bc WE DO have integrity, and will hold up our end honestly, but we will never call you again and will let anyone who asks, know about your lack of it, bc if you have nothing else in business, that alone matters most.
btw..our work order even has two different addresses on it! smh
Yes, this is in Troy, even though Yelp is trying to place this in Cali for some reason.

Derek and his crew have been doing plumbing here at our house for more than 36 years. They are dependable, knowledgeable and thorough. They show up and get the job done, big or small. We wouldn't call anyone else but The Plumb Shop!

Our hot water heater failed on a Thursday night and we wanted to have it fixed the next day, because the weekend was coming up. I called the Plumb Shop at 8AM and Derek answered, because he didn't have a person answering the phone, and he said he'd be right over to check out the water heater. He told me what kind of heater would work best, and he went and got it and it fit perfectly. He hooked up the water heater by noon, and made me a happy camper. Professional work and quickly done!

Great work, quick to schedule! We had to have some pipes replaced, one plumber told us we'd be without water for days. They came in and did the job within 3 hours and did more!! Definitely our new ""plumber"" we will be calling!

So we had a bit of an emergency leak in our kitchen that started a day ago and woke up the next day to a our ceiling just drenched and leaking. I got the plumb shop info as a recommendation from a contractor friend and Derrick himself, the owner was here within an hour of my frantic call. They worked diligently and were relentless to find the leak which they did, unfortunately after having to cut holes into my beautiful kitchen lol but nevertheless the leak had stopped and now onto fixing the drywall challenge number 2. Derrick worked very hard to make sure to clean up his mess as much as he could but obviously it's not his job to stay and clean and mop and scrape drywall off things so I was grateful for every little bit of help he offered which was more than most contractors who don't care even the slightest about the mess they have made. That is just what comes with the job I guess. But not with the plumb shop! They were on top of things and put my mind at ease which I so desperately needed. So appreciative and thankful to your work here today!!

5 stars, yes. I'd give more if I could.

After 2 days of rain our power flickered and it killed our main sump pump. The back-up pump couldn't keep up and water was slowly rising in the pit. I called The Plumb Shop and he was here in about 15 minutes. 1/2 hour later he had a new powerful pump installed that is so quiet that you have to be right over it to hear it. (I could hear the old one anywhere in the house.)

Fast, friendly, knowledgeable service! TPS gets a HUGE recommend from me!
