After an unusually high water bill, we needed a plumber to investigate potential causes. It was a red flag when the plumber arrived and said he was hoping it would be a broken water main leak because he would have gotten paid more for that. Not a good start. He made a couple of very minor repairs on two of the toilets that could have been the cause of them running. The bill was over $500. I thought it was on the high side for a simple job. I paid it making a mental note not to call them again. One day later and one of the toilets that he supposedly fixed, was running again. I called the manager , Gary, to let them know it was not fixed properly and they said they'd come back out. To my surprise, they wanted to charge an additional $300 to fix what they should have fixed the first time.

Adam was knowledgable, friendly, came when he said he would, updated by phone as a courtesy, identified the issue with our clogged shower drain and worked at it until the job was done. He was careful and respectful of the aging pipes in our older home. Appreciated his professionalism, caring clean up and even the attention he paid to our new dog to set her at ease. This is the second time we've used Pipe Doctors and we will use them again (but hopefully won't need to any time soon!)

Worst company ever! We requested service for a clogged drain (bathtub was filled with raw sewage). The technician came out and stated that the toilet was blocked and we need to replace the toilet (even though I was able to flush the toilet by pouring a five gallon bucket of water in the toilet. Three days later, the line is still blocked, and now we have raw sewage on the front lawn. The Pipe Doctor office says it will be another three days before they can come out (so much for emergency services).

I do NOT recommend this company. Avoid at all costs.

Adam was big help when my grandmother-in-law's (who isn't tech savvy) pipes started leaking. He really helped out the family when we were in a bind and was very cost effective considering the nature of the fix. He's come out before and we hope to continue using him in the future.

I called these guys to repair a clogged sewer drain and was very impressed with their work. It was a big job with the clog about 10 ft below the surface. Their estimate was fair, the service was prompt and the crew was professional from start to finish.

You hate to have to call these guys but it is nice to know they are there when you need them.

I highly recommend them.

Without any drain slow downs or other warnings our kitchen sink suddenly became clogged. We tried plunging the crap out of it to no avail so resigned ourselves to calling a plumber. Pipe Doctor responded quickly and said they could come that day. Wayne gave us an estimate to unclog the drain and redo the drain under the sink that had been installed improperly. The clog turned out to be a real challenge with issues getting the snake to go down instead of up into the vent pipe. When his snake broke Wayne called Adam to assist and eventually they had to go up on the roof to snake down through the vent pipe. After several hours of work the job was done and we paid the bill for the original reasonable estimate. Great job by the Pipe Doctor team all around.

Quality of their work seems great. In an emergency I would not hesitate to have them out again.. but will shop around in the future as they seemed over-priced. I paid $800 for 3 hours of work (and a half hour discussing their pricing).

They don't charge by the hour, which I get--a good experienced plumber can do a better job in less time than a bad plumber. They charge by the job and have a book price for standard jobs.. however they are willing to lower that price if your job is deemed easier or you have multiple jobs done, etc. I guess thats nice.. or could be nice, but in reality who knows what's going on. In the end I still felt like I overpaid despite the discounts to their normal price. They charge 50$ bucks for coming out even if you don't have them do any work--which is why I ended up going with them anyway

I discovered a clogged drain and broken garbage disposal in my new home and The Pipe Doctor sent a plumber promptly. Adam was knowledgeable, cleared the clog, and repaired the disposal. I would hire these guys again. Also, Adam's beard inspires credibility in his expertise.

I highly recommend the Pipe Doctor. I had a burst hosebib (from frozen water) in a tricky location in my basement behind drywall. They scheduled a service call that fit my schedule quickly, and sent email and sms reminders for the appointment. Wayne showed up exactly on time and fixed the problem (replaced pipe and a spigot and shut-off valve) quickly and cleanly. Wayne was courteous, professional and took the time to explain what he was going to do, how, why, and afterwards, how the new set up worked and how to avoid the problem in the future. He made the experience as stress-free and pleasant as possible. The cost was quite reasonable. I will definitely turn to Pipe Doctor next time I need plumbing help.

My recommendation: Do NOT call The Pipe Doctor. They were at my home in NVa recently to repair a small copper water pipe, broken due to the extreme freeze. I called on a Tuesday evening, but received no call back until the following morning. They arrived that Wednesday morning after 8:00 during regular business hours, and did resolve the problem, at least temporarily. First, their website states they provide free estimates, but I later discovered they actually don't - and when a company starts out lying to you, it's obviously a bad sign. Only one pipe had been damaged, but according to their plumbers, 2 pipes needed to be worked on because of their positioning; this seemed strange to me, but I accepted their assessment due to the need to get the job done and into work. The pipes were located in an odd place, and from their description of the difficulty of the job, I expected it would take several hours, require special parts, tools, etc., so I also accepted their estimate of $600. They finished in about an hour, with 45 minutes of time actually working on the repair, and did not re-fit the original copper pipes with new copper, but only applied some type of adaptor fittings and non-copper material. The water did function properly afterwards, so I paid the fee and requested an itemized invoice. I was told I'd be sent one by email, but the invoice I received did not provide any details on the parts, labor, additional charges for the service call and estimate, etc., and it was only upon receiving that invoice that I was informed there was no warranty on the job. I emailed this company 12 (twelve) times for additional information and a detailed invoice, with no response whatsoever. I later found what appear to be similar adaptor kits online for much less than $50; but even if both kits cost $50 each for a total of $100, that leaves $500 labor for a 45 minute job - over $500 an hour in labor costs alone.

A similar issue on a different pipe occurred about 10 days later, and I of course did NOT call The Pipe doctor this time. I called another local company (Kinnett), after-hours on a Saturday afternoon. They returned the call, arrived and fixed the problem only a few hours later. They replaced the original copper pipe with new copper, in an area that required outside work and access under the floor. They responded more quickly, performed a much more extensive and difficult job on an after-hours emergency basis, provided all the billing details up front, and charged less than half the price of The Pipe Doctor. Again - Do NOT call The Pipe Doctor for any type of plumbing job - you will likely be grossly overcharged for what is at best average work, and there are many, much better local alternatives.
