Another adventure in home ownership! Hooray! I was a huge fan of Shields & Sons but they are no longer in business and merged with The Meridian Company. So when my water heater made louder and LOUDER popping noises, I knew that I needed to call professional help.

I left a voicemail after hours and called again the next morning. The receptionist mentioned that I was on the list of customers to call. There were two other HVAC companies that I called but neither one of them took my call or responded to my messages. The Meridian Company set me up with technician at my earliest convenience for a $75 evaluation fee.

Wowza, I didn't realize how close my water heater was to total failure and damaging my house through slow leaks! The technician explained that my water heater needed to be replaced ASAP (it was over 20 years old) and I agreed to going forward with a replacement. The new tank was delivered quickly and the installation was also speedy. The $75 quote fee was built into the total cost since I used this company to do the contract work.

The Meridian Company was super professional with sending out service date reminder emails, detailed invoices, calling with a heads up when a tech was on the way, and a knowledgeable service technician. I'm impressed with this business and will use them as my go-to HVAC company.

Called them out after moving in to quote us some electric work and some plumbing. Their pricing was so outrageous I sent them away and never looked back. Their quote to replace a drain cover was $325! A DRAIN COVER IN A BATHROOM SINK. Their electric quote was nearly $13,000. Got the electric work done by another company for just over $3,000. Cannot speak to the quality of their work as I never ended up hiring them, but their pricing is absolutely sickening. Who even uses them?

Today was the third time I've worked with this company and it won't be my last. Their team is excellent - very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. I highly recommend using them if you need any work done.

Have been doing business with The Madeiran company for years... Just had them install a new boiler (hydronic heat) in my house. They use ""Utica"" boilers... Get another estimate, it does what it's supposed to do but sounds like a ""JET ENGINE"" in my basement. This replaced a Lochinvar boiler which I never heard except to hear the thermostat come on and go off. Sorry I didn't follow my own advice.

I called Michigan Plumbing to come out and fix a shower that was not putting out cold water--just very hot water. They sent out a plumber the same day (good), and said the call/estimate would cost $75. The plumber looked at the shower and the pipes and said she thought she knew what the problem was and could fix it since she had the part on the truck. She estimated the cost at a total of $550. I needed the shower fixed, so I said do it. It took her about 35 minutes to change out the part, which was a new Moen cartridge, and reinstall the shower handle. When she finished, I asked why $550 for a job that took less than one hour total and I guessed the part cost maybe $50 (at most). She explained all work was at a flat rate, and the job was $475 plus the initial $75 service call. I said wasn't the $75 included in the job cost. She said no. A day later I called the Meridian office and asked to speak to the supervisor about the high cost of a one hour job. He said that was the company's cost calculation, and noted that they had overhead and a small profit percentage included. He said he would look at my project again and call me back in a couple of days. IT'S BEEN A WEEK AND HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. My view is Meridian Plumbing can do a good job--but it comes at a very high cost. My bad for not calling a couple of companies to get an estimate.

I have never had such bad customer service as I did for my kitchen remodel. The project manager was rude and unprofessional and when I complained he texted us nasty messages and refused to speak to us or listen to voicemails. We were only ""allowed"" to contact him electronically. No one else at the company cared or contacted us to see how they could help. The kitchen turned out ok but the added stress that this caused was not worth it. This was supposed to be a nice 20th wedding anniversary present for my husband and me and instead it just made us uncomfortable in our own home. I will not use them for anything again.

Contacted The Meridian Company for doing some bathroom plumbing in our basement as we finish it. Bill was professional, knowledgeable, and put up with all of the questions I had during the process. He was awesome to work with and he was able to schedule me in a timely manner. His crew came for two days and did everything we wanted and even put up with more questions from me as I like to learn what's going on as they do things. Would highly recommend this company,

Meridian company sent Joe out to our house in Mason during the third week of November to run two electric lines in the kitchen! Over the phone or in person it was a very professional experience and I was very thankful for the work they did!!! The bill first quoted was for $1,045. After getting started they were able to save me money by rewiring an outlet instead of having to run a second line? I myself am on fixed income and much appreciated the help I received in my bill which came out to $668 instead!!! Saving me hundreds of dollars!!!! 5 stars

We called for an appointment on Monday and were scheduled for the following Friday. We needed a few things looked at, but our main service was changing out the connectors to have a new dishwasher installed. We then scheduled to have the dishwasher installed the next day. About 30 minutes before our scheduled appointment, Meridian called to cancel our appointment and reschedule for later the following week. When I asked if they could at least send someone at some point today to change the connectors so our dishwasher could be installed the following day, I was told ""there are no technicians available"". I now had to scramble to get another plumber here. They are coming after hours (not even offered up by Meridian) and I now have to pay an additional ""after hours"" fee. Meridians website talks about having great customer service and going above and beyond to guarantee customer satisfaction. I did not experience any of that.

I made the mistake of hiring electricians from this company for some minor household repairs. As a senior citizen, in hindsight, this is the first time that I am absolutely sure that I was totally ripped off. Do not use this company for any reason, ever.
