Contacting 3 different companies to replace our 19 year old heat pump system, Longacre's got the job hands down. Our decision was based on our meeting with Eric Bauman, HVAC manager. We liked all his answers to our questions and concerns. The price he gave us was also the best price. We also liked that Longacre's is a local company if there are any issues. The installers did a good job .There was a problem with the base. It had a large corner that broke off. I took a picture of it, emailed it to Eric and he replied quickly that it was totally unacceptable and it would get replaced and it did,the following week. When everything was finished, the work area outside and inside was left very clean. We are very happy with the final product, an American Standard Heat Pump System.
Matthew A.I would not recommend anyone use Longacre for their HVAC needs.
We had a unit that was not cooling well. Scheduled an appointment and they were booking 5-6 weeks out. Called back when the unit started making loud noise like the fan was dying and they couldn't move me to a sooner date/time.
Technician came and found nothing wrong because at that particular time the fan was not making its death noise. So paid $105 for nothing and now had to call another company for repair.
New company has a far better rating, showed up same day and only charges $79 for diagnostic which they put toward the repair anyway.
Do not use Longacre....
Bruce S.We have used them a number of times over the years because of convenience. To say the service is hit or miss would be an understatement. The techs are sometimes great and sometimes they sit there for an hour on the phone, call someone to come help and then still don't fix the issue... then Longacre's complains when you question their bill.
The last time we had them here the came to fix our heater... and got it working again, told us they didn't have the right part but got it working. They said call the office and have someone come to clean the heater and make sure they bring the right coupler - that was a Saturday. Heater went south again Sunday evening so we called Monday morning and told them... they sent someone out who said they couldn't fix it because it needed to be cleaned. I explained what the last tech said and the guy called the last guy - they fixed the problem but still didn't have the right coupler. Came back a day or so later and fixed the coupler and then billed me for three visits and every minute they were on-site.
After several months of arguing with them they finally corrected the bill - but the hassle just isn't worth the middling quality of work.
STAY AWAY FROM - Longacre. They are not professional and will take advantage of anyone not knowledgeable.
Case #1: Dryer Repair - Need to replace motor. I found belt came off dryer continued to work 2yr+ w/o issues.
Case #2: Sewer Drain Backed up - Serviceman broke plastic sewer line cleanout costing us $4.5k to repair.
Case #3: 94 (dangerously hot) deg today HVAC needs service/repair - Won't come out because I sited #1 and #2 (when #2 occurred) with no review or apology offered.
IMHO. Completely unethical. Stay away unless you watch their every step. HTH Others.
We lost hot water and heat in our home. We always relied on the for the work, We called, they could not come out unless we paid overtime rate. Had someone else come out. They got it to work, but went back out. In the morning called them again, they said they were booked and would get back to me, Called someone else they got out and we got the heat going. Their tech showed up, I told him we were working with heat. he wanted to get part numbers and be competitive on pricing. When he was leaving I noticed their was no display on the unit, had him come back in and he was working on getting the unit back online. We lost on what he was doing. Tech was not familiar with the unit and used us to learn on it. He had giving me a bill, but when I checked online the bill was additional 84.00, I called they said it was a support call fee. I NEVER heard of such a fee onto the costumer.
Kevin S.I have been using the Longacre Company for my heating and air conditioning servicing needs for years and couldn't be more delighted. Everyone from Cheryl, who takes my appointment to the Nate, one of the many great service technicians that they have working for them. When it come to repairs, their pricing quotes are always accurate and very competitive. I recommend them to all of our friends and will continue to use them every year for annual maintenance of our systems.
I am very angry at this point about The Longacre Company's heating department. This company is expecting me to pay a big price to train their technician! We were asked to pay $770 for fixing a problem as simple as the cracked insulation over electrode
Here is the story. In Nov and Dec last year, they came to my house 4 times. 1st they did an annual oil furnace tuneup/cleaning ($159 paid), then days later (warmer days didn't turn on heat), heat was not on, the first tech came, changed the TRANSFORMER, (we paid $133.34); after that we had a couple of warmer days and the heat didn't come on. 5 days later, when I tried to turn heat on, furnace didn't come on, we called and the same tech came again, and this time he changed the OIL PUMP and nozzle, still couldn't make it run, then he thought it's a problem with the ELECTRODE KIT (he spent 2 hours this time). He ordered the kit, and we waited almost 10 days to get them to come to the house again. This time, is a different tech. Once he opened the furnace and realized the part ordered was wrong and he knew right way what's wrong - cracked isolation over electrode. He went back office and picked up the part, came back and changed it. The furnace is up running ever since.
But a month later, I received a bill asking me to pay $477.42, that's on top of what I already paid $292.34 ($159 + $133.42). For a simple fix - change the part (electrode kit - only cost $25), The Longacre Company is charging me a total of $769.76 - unbelievable.
Tried talk to the man in charge a couple of times, the final result came back from his boss (company owner) is they can only give $112 discount on Labor. I was asking the owner's contact information, but he refused give it to me.
The point here is, this company is trying to get its customers to pay for training their technicians (because they are not knowledgeable enough) and paying to change parts that were still good and any associated labor for changing good parts.
Don't use this company. You may be the next one to pay a big bill.
I needed an appliance repairman to check a rattling drum on our clothes dryer. I called The Longacre Company but their appliance repairman was out on medical leave, so they referred me to Harmon Wright. I called and left a message on Mr. Wright's cell phone Monday morning around nine. By six that evening he did not call back so I left another message, this time on his landline phone. No response by Tuesday night so I called Longacre back Wednesday morning, figuring the man might be ill or something, but Longacre had heard nothing and said he might be very busy. I tried Mr. Wright one more time Wednesday morning, and explained if he was too busy to please let me know so I could call another appliance repairman. By Thursday evening, once again, no response from Mr. Wright. I've never had a repairman not call back within a day, no matter how busy they are, which is why I find Mr. Wright's lack of professionalism so disturbing.
I realize Longacre may have little control over their independent repairmen, but if they're going to refer these people to the public, Longacre does have some accountability for the actions (or lack) of these outside repairmen.
Because of the lack of professional courtesy and irresponsible behavior of Harmon Wright, I have lost faith in Longacre's judgment as a reliable and reputable firm.
Jennifer M.Thank you, thank you, thank you! A/C *had* to break in the middle of the worst heatwave. Called Longacre on a Sunday (they were closed) and they were here, on Monday, by 10am. Fast, prompt, courteous service. Would gladly do business with them again!
