If I could give these guys 1000 stars I would! After calling another plumber and being told our clogged drain could only be fixed by a $4500 pipe replacement (including tearing up walls), Kerry and Roy came to our rescue!! They took the time to REALLY investigate the problem and resolved it with no need for tearing down walls and for a FRACTION of the cost - and did all of it with smiles on their faces and an unmatched professionalism. Their price was soooo reasonable that I actually made them charge me more for it! We've been through a dozen plumbers in Philadelphia and will never again use anyone but them!

The guy who came to fix a gas leak in my basement wasn't very professional because he was constantly on the phone making personal phonr calls and even yelling at someone at one point. The job itself took a little longer than expected and priced a little on the high end personally but the job was done and the man was very friendly to me and arrived on time.

I called and set up a time for the next day after 5 p.m. No show. No call until 6 a.m. the next morning.
When we initially spoke on the phone I asked about the cost of the initial visit and was told, ""nothing.""
I had a leak in the sprayer attached to my kitchen sink. Kerry went to his truck for something, came back and proclaimed me ""leak free."" I think he may have put in a washer. Then I was charged $85.00 for the service.

Just had the House Doctor team, Kerry and Roy, come in and replace our water heater tank, and I'd recommend them to anyone who has any plumbing, electrical, carpentry problems that they need a capable team to complete it. They were personable and professional gentlemen, and really did an amazing job, complications and all.

Really had difficulty finding a plumber that I felt I could trust as I'm unfamiliar with the work that needed to be done. I had searched Yelp, Home Advisor, Home Depot, and even Amazon Home Services (AHS), but wasn't satisfied with the polarized reviews of some of the plumbers I read about. Eventually, I stumbled on the House Doctor through AHS where they had excellent reviews, but discovered that they were no longer on that platform. So, I did a quick google search and found them on Home Advisor where it reflected the same enthusiasm for their work. I finally felt somewhat comfortable moving forward with them and have not regretted that decision.

Basically, our water heater had no way of getting out of our basement closet without breaking down a wall / doing some demolition work AND it was going to be very difficult to transport both the old and the replacement water tanks. They got creative with the solution and only had to take out part of the door framing to get it out, cut some piping, cleaned up the area, brought in the new unit, and re-positioned the piping to connect to the new unit. After cleaning up the area and re-installing the door framing, they left the set-up better than it had been before, leaving everything in perfect, working condition.

Kerry and Roy were both personable and funny, but when it came to the work and costs, they didn't play any games. Kerry is not only capable in plumbing, but also electrical work, carpentry, and other areas, so I will definitely be working with him going forward and recommend him to anyone who has any related problems. They don't call him the House Doctor for nothing!

Thanks again guys!
Richard

edit: total costs around $2,000, a bargain for the great work they did. Your mileage may vary.

If it was possible to give zero stars I would. I hired Kerry to fix some plumbing in a high end rental rehab in a nice area of downtown Philadelphia. The first thing I will tell you is that we negotiated a price of $900 for plumbing and some small electrical work yet he charged my brother $1100 when he left. Part of that charge was $250.00 for travel time to go pick up shower knobs. He sent a worker out to pick something up for an hour and charged $250! He installed two sinks, one of which does not drain properly- the bowl fills up with water, so I had to get that fixed. He installed a garbage disposal and dishwasher. I had to get that fixed because he did not do the work properly- the drain line for the dishwasher did not have a high point above the garbage disposal. Neither were installed to code. He hooked up a dryer vent and even did that wrong, I had to get that fixed as well.

He incorrectly installed 3 shower knobs. They are not threaded nor are they waterproof. There are basically 3 holes in the shower wall where water can leak during a shower now. This all has to be replaced and fixed. He removed 3 chrome handles from this shower and replaced them with the cheapest clear plastic ones on the market. He did not leave the chrome ones in my apartment- he took them with him. When I asked him about this he said ""I didn't steal your chrome knobs"". Then I told him they weren't in the apartment. He admitted they were on his truck, plumbers shouldn't be taking materials from a job site. They were brand new chrome handles that could have been returned or used in one of my other buildings. There are 3 knobs on the shower and two say hot, one says cold. I have to replace them as well and buy new chrome knobs since he removed mine from the job site. It was very hard to have a conversation with Kerry as he was screaming at me, unable to have a normal adult discussion about his work. I had to pay somebody to come in and fix every single thing he did. Two licensed contractors have come in to do work in the apartment (one to fix all of the plumbing) and both explained that his work was completely sub par and none of it was done properly or to code. I cannot believe this person is licensed. The work is terrible and Kerry is a total scam artist. I gave him a chance to fix this but he wouldn't listen. He talked over me, screamed at me, then hung up. It was a truly disappointing experience ""working"" with Kerry from start to finish.

I had made an appointment for an estimate, which I took time off from work for, for Friday, June 10, between 8:30 & 9:30 am and texted Kerry my information. When no one had shown up by 9:45 I contacted Kerry and he informed me he was at another job and would come by when it was completed. When I asked when that may be he couldn't give me an answer but said he'd come by when he could, possibly later in the afternoon or maybe another day. I'm sorry but if I make an appointment with a professional I expect that person to be just that, professional and keep the appointment you made which Kerry did not. The only reason I gave one star is because I can't give less. I would recommend going with anyone but the House Doctor Plumbing.

The house doctor was my angel today. He came to repair our only toilet after it started leaking and my husband was unable to get it repaired before he had to leave for work. It ended up being a bigger job than was originally anticipated, but he was so kind, and so professional, calling me to show me every step of the way what was going on and what the problems were so I understood what the issues were and knew I wasn't being ripped off. We originally thought it was just a broken seal. Turned out it was a clog in the main line, as well as needing repair done to our flange. This guy is the real deal. I'll be calling this guy for any future plumbing needs.

Called the House Doctor and he came out the same day to give me an estimate and then did the repair the next day. He actually threw in an additional repair in my kitchen when I simply asked him a question about my sink. He replied "" I'll take care of it""
and they did. They were so professional and friendly and best of all AFFORDABLE!! Wish I could give them more stars because they deserve it. I called around everywhere even resorted to asking friends & family if they knew of any handyman that could help me. So glad I did not go that route. I highly recommend the House Doctor Plumbing.
