When I suddenly lost hot water and couldn't get my pilot light re-lit due to a degraded thermocoupler, I did a search on Yelp and found Shawn's Handyman Plumber business. I chose him because his reviews were so high and his specialty in hot water heater repairs. I am so happy I called him. He was able to fit me in the next day between jobs and quickly identified that I had a ""unique"" water heater. He called the manufacturer and helped me get the part I needed to do the repair. He came back when the part arrived and fixed the water heater. And then called that night to make sure everything was working correctly. And with all that extra service he still charged me his original quote on the phone. Now that is an honest and fair business man. I appreciated that he didn't try to sell me a new hot water heater, despite it being 10 years old and the manufacturer saying I should replace it, because from his assessment I didn't need a new one yet. The casing is still solid. Next time I have a plumbing issue I'm giving Shawn a call.

The water heater in my house wasn't working one early morning. I looked up Yelp and found Shawn's info (Handyman Plumber). The problem was with pilot flame not turning on. Shawn walked me through the steps over phone and luckily, the flame turned on. He stayed on phone and made sure flame doesn't go off after while. This took few minutes, but saved a lot of trouble and money for our family.

Shawn could have easily fooled me in to big repair that was not required. But he was honest and explained what could be going wrong. He gave tips on what to look out for in future.

Very impressed and will certainly call him for future plumbing needs.

I have a new plumber! After two 'no-call-backs' from plumbers that were recommended to me by co-workers I started looking on my own. I found Shawn on Yelp and I couldn't be more happy. I called Shawn after hours and had asked if he could give me a call the next morning to look at a leak. He promptly called me back and was able to come right out to take care of my problem. Not only was Shawn professional and knowledgeable, he was MORE than happy to field every question I tossed at him. He went above and beyond the job at hand when another issue surfaced. Writing this review as Shawn leaves our house. Neither my husband nor I are very handy, and we just purchased our first home. Every home has its kinks and ours is certainly no exception. We called Shawn out to take a look at why our air gap filter in our dishwasher was gushing water onto our counters, and to have him take a look at why water wasn't dispensing from our brand new fridge. Before he even got down to the work, Shawn showed us (because as new, unknowledgable homeowners, we don't know anything!) where various water shutoff valves were around our house. He really took the time to teach us and explain everything, which is something we really appreciate.

Turns out the air gap filter just needed a bit of cleaning in the hose (there was a lot of gunk in there from the previous owners); now, when our dishwasher drains, it isn't gushing out water.

The fridge water hookup was a bit trickier. Shawn didn't hesitate to put on his crawl space suit and got down and dirty, underneath our house to help us locate the water shutoff valve. The reason we weren't getting any water from our fridge was because the water valve had been turned down to a trickle. He turned the water back on, and now we're getting water from the fridge, hooray!

Bottom line, Shawn is the best; he really cares and takes the time to make sure you are educated so that you know what to do when a plumbing crisis arises! Thank you so much, we're definitely recommending you to all of our South Bay friends.

Excellent experience,,,!!! Our water heater wouldn't fire up so I called Shawn to schedule an appointment on a Monday morning. He asked me a couple of questions over the phone to get an idea what was going on and he even quoted me an estimate right then. Luckily he was able to come out that same day and quoted a time frame when he would probably be arriving. He called when he left the prior job and when he arrived he went right to work. He had it up and running in no time and the job came to exactly what he had quoted. It's good to deal with a knowledgeable professional who does what he says. He's now my 'go-to' plumber. Shawn has another customer for life. I called him after my mom got a ridiculous estimate from another plumber for a leak. That plumber advised my mom to get a hydro flush for a few thousand dollars. When Shawn came out, he found the leak and repaired it. He told us we didn't need a hydro flush and gave us advice on how to ensure that we never do.

Great customer service skills, highly responsive (even though he gets calls/texts all the time), and a straight shooter. I highly recommend.

We had Shawn replace two kitchen faucets and put in a recirculating hot water pump.
The faucets were a pretty big job and he brought another guy and they got it all done in about 4 hours. He also helped me track down a leak that was intermittent and got that taken care of.
The faucet replacement cost a bit more than I thought it should, but he did a great and through job.
He really knows his plumbing and we discussed the hot water pump so I'd know exactly what was involved.

I needed some plumbing work done and decided to call Shawn from all of the Yelp recommendations. Since all of the reviews were so glowing, I was a little concerned that the reviews might be ""stacked"" with false reviews. But I called anyway, left him a message, and he returned my call the same day. I explained the work that I needed - work on a toilet, garbage disposal, and kitchen faucet sprayer. Shawn listened, we discussed possible causes, and he gave estimates for the various solutions. We set an appointment time for him to do the work. He arrived during the time window promised, and immediately started work. The garbage disposal needed replacing, and the kit I purchased did not have all of the needed plugs. He went to his truck, and made the necessary adjustments with the materials he had on his truck. All problems were fixed, and at the prices quoted. He was professional, friendly, and even took time to provide tips to avoid having the same issues in the future. I would definitely call Shawn for any plumbing issues in the future, and would recommend him to anyone looking for help with plumbing issues.
