Several months ago we needed a toilet replaced. Since we had used The Gentleman Plumber several times in the past and were pleased with the work, we decided to use them again. As far as I know it was a straight-forward installation - out with the old and in with the new one. Ever since day one the tank refills itself multiple times during the day. I'm guessing the ring isn't sealing properly. Pretty disappointed.
Rebecca S.We have had a nagging drip from one of our faucets, and a sewer smell coming from one of our toilets since we bought our house. I got a quote from another company to fix the toilet two years ago, and they wanted in the neighborhood of $550, which seemed outrageous.
Fast forward to last week, the faucet is getting worse, my husband's home remedies are no longer cutting it, and the toilet still smells. I call the Gentleman Plumber on Friday and offer to come Monday or Tuesday. One of us was going to be home on Wednesday anyway, so we made an appointment for then.
On Sunday, water starts leaking from our bathtub through our kitchen ceiling due to an issue with the overflow pipe. I call the Gentleman Plumber ASAP to see if they can make an emergency call on Sunday. No can do, but they shift our appointment to Monday afternoon, meaning I didn't have to wait in anxiety over Sunday night to pray that they could come over on Monday.
On Monday afternoon, they arrived during their service window and they fixed our tub overflow and replaced the internal parts of our toilet and reset and caulked it, and looked at our faucet for $575 for everything. They advised us to get a new faucet rather than try to repair the old one, and gave us specs on what to order.
We had a similarly great experience over the summer, when we used their white glove service and they came to our house when we couldn't be home.
Good service at a reasonable price. I highly recommend them.
Scott B.Great experience replacing a water heater with Cesar and Diego. They showed up in the time window that was promised, gave an accurate quote, and completed high quality work. We will call again if we are ever in need of a plumber.
I was so impressed by The Gentleman Plumber. Cesar and Diego were professional, smart, and kind. They like where they work, and it shows in the work and service they provide. As much as I don't want plumbing problems, it would be a pleasure to cross paths with these gentlemen again. Regards, JMB
I had a very good experience with them, both office and technicians are very pleasant, I was given an appointment right away and they fixed the problem quickly.
Susan S.Fast, great service. My garbage disposal unit stopped working. Marcos replaced the unit in 1hr and it works great now. They came out less than 3 days after I called. Great experience and will use them again if needed.
Sadly, my experience was not what I expected. The men arrived late, outside of their 2-hour window. The repair, a fairly simple procedure on a tankless water heater, took there and a half hours - they brought two men, don't know why. Total cost was very high for what I expected because it took so long. There was an issue with billing - I had to leave the men while I went to a business meeting across town. Before I left, I asked if they wanted me to leave a credit card. They assured me they could have a bill sent to my home. I had to text back and forth with my au pair while driving back across town (voice transcription texting only, but still...) to find out that they were wrong, their business office couldn't bill me, and they needed a credit card number now. I mean, I TRIED to make things easy for them, for gosh sakes! I TRIED to leave a credit card with them!
So, that's three strikes already: 1) late; 2) billing issues; 3) more expensive than anticipated (by about 40%!) But then their manager called me. I guess he just wanted to yell at an unhappy customer? Because that's what he did.
""I'm SO SORRY you had to pull over and take a phone call, I mean it's not the end of the world."" (No, O master of sarcasm, the point was that I tried very hard to set things up so I wouldn't have that issue, because I knew I might be driving when they finished. But your men were too poorly trained to know what to do.) ""I'm sorry they told you the wrong thing, but NOBODY in the service industry bills people, everyone ALWAYS take a credit card. We never bill anyone unless they're one of our best customers."" (Thanks for NOT treating me, a new customer, like one of your best customers...it's much harder to win new customers than to keep old ones, by the way...just sayin'.) After for yelling at me for a while, and trying to justify what I felt was a very bad experience, he finally said ""this is an unproductive conversation."" and we ended the call.
Anyway, I couldn't recommend this business for anything; the manager was not a ""gentleman,"" at least not to me. Best of luck if you hire them, I hope your experience is different than mine.
My kitchen sink was leaking. I thought it was the sprayer from the faucet, but i wasn't 100% sure. I called The Gentleman Plumber and they had an appointment available. Their guy did show up on time and was professional. It turns out it was the sprayer just i thought. They had a deal to replace the faucet for $100. But since i wasn't completly sure that it was that issue, I didn't buy it. Now i'm full of regret, since it cost $215 to replace the faucet instead of $100. They did not give me a break at all even though it only took him 35 minutes to do it. He did a good job, but still, $215 for changing the faucet? Good service, but, I will not be using them again.
Jcl G.I recommend without reservation. I bought a house almost 4 years ago in Old Town. Needless to say, some of the renovations are starting to age and the occasional problem pops up. I had a home warranty but the plumbers they sent not only cost me $100 a shot, they were of uneven quality. So the next time I needed someone, I happened to see the GP truck in the neighborhood and called them. They have now done 4 jobs for me: repaired frozen outdoor spigot, fixed a leak under the sink caused by one of the warranty-sent plumbers, installed a new hot water heater and, today, fixed the hot water valve leading to the washer. Superb job in each instance with timely appearances, first rate work and reasonable cost. I've come to ask for Caesar by name. Today, he came up with a solution to the washer's hot water problem that saved time, money and a huge potential pain in the butt involving a hole in the laundry room wall. Also - you can make appointments on-line. Love these guys.
Mike H.Fast, same-day service for a leaking valve. They had to cut out some dry wall to get to it...left no mess, and cut it out very cleanly to the final repair and painting were easy to accomplish. Liked the service and attitude a lot.
